Chapter 12
As the little cat was about to jump again, the snow eagle, unable to watch any longer, suddenly flapped his wings and flew over. With his sharp claws, he swiftly broke the branch with a loud “crack.”
The snow eagle placed the broken branch on the ground, then returned to his perch on the large tree, watching the stunned little cat. He let out a sheepish ‘gurgling’ sound.
The snow eagle’s intention was too obvious, and the little cat felt a little embarrassed.
After all, she had previously avoided the snow eagle, thinking he was fierce and frightening.
But now, it seemed that only his sharp eagle eyes were intimidating. In reality, he was quite kind-hearted!
The little cat happily ran to the base of the tree and began nibbling on the fruit.
The fruit was only about the size of her thumb, bright red, juicy, and sweet. The little cat devoured five or six in one go, feeling very satisfied.
At this moment, the sky suddenly started to rain.
She had noticed earlier that the sky was overcast, and she had guessed it would rain. However, she didn’t expect it to come so suddenly. Large raindrops began to fall heavily in the jungle, instantly creating the ‘splash-splash’ sound of rain hitting the leaves.
After finishing the fruit and feeling full, Qing Liu saw the rain and immediately became anxious. Based on her experience in the survival game, staying in the primitive jungle during a heavy rain was not a good idea.
There was a high chance of encountering unexpected dangers.
The best course of action at this point was to return to the tree hole she had been in earlier. After all, the tree was large and unlikely to break or collapse easily, and it was high enough to avoid flooding. All she needed to do was quickly cover the hole with some leaves.
With this in mind, the little cat hurriedly ate two more fruits. After all, food would be hard to find in this downpour, and she didn’t want to waste any. She picked a few fruits, wrapped them in a large leaf, and used her little paws to bundle it up before holding it in her mouth, ready to leave.
But just as she was about to leave, she hesitated and glanced at the snow eagle. The heavy rain was about to start, but the snow eagle didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving. He remained quietly perched on the tree branch, staring at the little cat.
The snow eagle was actually hesitating, wondering if he should bring the little cat under his wings to shield her from the rain.
After all, he wasn’t afraid of the downpour, and he wouldn’t easily find a suitable place to rest.
However, the little cat clearly didn’t need his help. She kept looking back at him as she walked, and in the end, she ran off.
The snow eagle: “……”
Qing Liu wasn’t worried about the snow eagle, but she was more worried about herself. Compared to the snow eagle, she was much smaller and more vulnerable.
Moreover, her tree hole was too small, and the snow eagle was too large to fit inside.
“Meow meow…”
“You’re a mature snow eagle now, you should learn to find your own place to stay.”
Without a second thought, Qing Liu grabbed the fruits that the snow eagle had picked for her and ran off.
The tree hole wasn’t far away. The little cat quickly returned to the hole, and her live streaming drone followed closely behind, squeezing in with her.
The audience was extremely curious, eager to see what she would do inside the cave.
Then they saw her shake out her fur, put down the leaf bundle she had been holding in her mouth, and carefully unpack the fruits, placing them neatly.
After that, she shook the leaves to get rid of the water droplets. Just as the snow eagle was flying to the entrance of the tree hole, she quickly used both her paws and mouth to “smack!” the leaves, covering the entrance of the hole.
The snow eagle, left outside the hole: “……”
Although he hadn’t planned to squeeze inside, he really just wanted to check on the little cat’s safety—nothing more.
He wasn’t sure if the little cat would believe that if he told her.
The little cat naturally didn’t believe it. She lowered the leaves with her back and meowed several times at the small round ball emitting a faint warm light.
“Good thing I closed the door quickly, otherwise, what would I have done if the snow eagle had forced his way in? He’s so big, he would definitely get stuck at the entrance!”
The little white cat imagined herself talking to the other side of the live stream with her “litter box cleaner” in mind.
“Meow meow meow, meow, meow…”
“I really didn’t mean to not take him in, but you see, my cave entrance is so small, he can’t fit in!”
The audience in the live stream, listening to the cat’s guilty explanation through the translator, was practically in stitches.
【Emmmm, though, there’s a difference between men and women, I can understand.】
【The little tree hole is too small. If the snow eagle had squeezed in, the cat would have to sleep on his back.】
【I bet the snow eagle would be very willing, but unfortunately, the tree hole is too small.】
【The rain is getting heavier outside, oh my god, the snow eagle is still out in the rain, while the golden-haired tiger is still hunting!】
【The brown bear is still on the way, the only lucky ones are the panda and the fire fox—they’re already on their return flight!】
—
Since today’s mission was to hunt in the jungle, according to the rules, as long as they caught enough prey, they could return.
Among the six fluffy creatures, only the panda and the fire fox were seriously carrying out the mission. They teamed up, caught their prey, and immediately returned.
Meanwhile, the other four fluffy creatures unfortunately encountered the rainstorm in the jungle.
Qing Liu hid in the tree hole, listening to the sound of the rain pattering outside. She thought about the snow eagle, who had been left outside the hole earlier, and felt a bit melancholy.
The tree hole was really small. She looked around, and the snow eagle was enormous, much larger than her. There was no way he could fit into such a tiny hole, but it wasn’t a solution for him to keep standing out in the rain either.
Just as the little white cat was hesitating, she suddenly heard the sharp cry of the snow eagle outside. Her body tensed, and she quickly moved the leaves blocking the hole and poked her head out to look.
A gust of wind carrying rainwater hit her face, and Qing Liu was instantly stunned by the downpour.
Outside, the storm raged, with the sound of howling wind and the rustling of rain filling her ears.
She wiped her eyes with her paw, and when she opened them, she saw the huge golden-haired tiger dragging a large wild boar behind him, soaked to the bone.
The snow eagle perched on a high branch, using leaves to shield himself from the rain, silently watching the golden-haired tiger return with his spoils.
The golden-haired tiger dropped the wild boar, and blood from the hunt still stained his sharp teeth.
He looked up at the little white cat in the tree hole and gave a low growl in the midst of the wind and rain.
Qing Liu lowered her head and looked at the golden-haired tiger, completely stunned.
She didn’t expect the golden-haired tiger to go hunting, and that the prey was the wild boar they had just encountered together.
So, not all animals had human-like intelligence, the wild beasts of the primal jungle were just ordinary animals, weren’t they?
After hunting and getting caught in the heavy rain, why didn’t the golden-haired tiger find a place to shelter and eat his meal, and instead come back to find her?
With such heavy rain! She had already prepared to meet the golden-haired tiger after the rain stopped.
The golden-haired tiger seemed to have some strong opinions about the snow eagle crouching nearby. He glanced at the snow eagle, even baring his teeth at him.
The snow eagle’s expression was serious, his eyes cold and piercing.
Qing Liu looked from the golden-haired tiger to the snow eagle, completely unaware of the tense undercurrent between them.
When she locked eyes with the golden-haired tiger, Qing Liu surprisingly understood his intentions—he wanted to take her away from here.
As for where they were going, she wasn’t sure. But at this moment, she trusted the golden-haired tiger completely. After all, he was the one who went through the trouble of hunting, only to return and not eat his catch, instead coming straight to find her!
Looking at the heavy downpour outside and seeing the water level on the ground rise, Qing Liu didn’t hesitate. The longer she waited, the higher the water would rise, and soon it would be difficult to even leave the jungle.
She quickly grabbed a couple more fruits from the corner where they had been placed. The ones she couldn’t finish, she reluctantly left behind. Then, wrapping some leaves around her back, she moved to the entrance of the hole and meowed twice at the golden-haired tiger.
“Hey, hey, don’t get distracted.”
Qing Liu called anxiously, “I’m going to jump now!”
Hearing the little cat’s voice, the golden-haired tiger stopped glaring at the snow eagle. He turned his head and looked at the little white cat.
The little white cat, with the large leaves draped over her, jumped down and landed steadily on the golden-haired tiger’s broad back.
His fur was thick and dense, and though it was wet on the outside from the rain, the inside was dry and warm.
Once the little white cat landed, she burrowed into the back of the golden-haired tiger’s neck, curling herself up into a ball in the warm, fluffy fur. With the leaves still draped over her back, she gripped the leaves tightly with her paws.
In order to avoid feeling uncomfortable, the little cat really could think of any way to manage.
Noticing that the little cat was settled, the golden-haired tiger picked up the wild boar again and, holding it in his mouth, began to carry it off.
The snow eagle stood in place, hesitating. Given the severe weather, the program’s aircraft would definitely be unable to reach them. It seemed they would have to wait in the jungle until the storm passed.
Rather than being alone, staying close to others of his kind would be safer.
So, the snow eagle decided to follow the golden-haired tiger, watching where he was going.
When the golden-haired tiger returned from hunting, he had already sensed that a heavy rainstorm was approaching. After all, he was a survival expert in the wild, highly sensitive to bad weather, and had plenty of outdoor survival experience.
Therefore, he quickly found a cave that could shelter them from the wind and rain. The cave wasn’t large, but it was more than enough to accommodate both him and the cat.
Once he found the cave, he confirmed there were no other wild beasts inside. Of course, if there had been any, he could have chased them away.
Without even dropping the prey, he ran back to find the little cat.
