Chapter 21
With Chester’s surprised call, the little white cat was so startled that it leapt, its fur standing on end.
Ahhh! So scary!
The little white cat quickly jumped down from the lounge chair and ran wildly into the villa. As it ran, it looked up and saw that damn live streaming ball. It panicked even more.
After leisurely staying here for a few days, thinking it had transformed into the pet of a wealthy family and was enjoying a life of ease, it now turns out that someone is saying she’s not a pet—she’s still a corporate slave!
Being a corporate slave would be one thing, but the fluffy pets she’d been living with all this time are actually people who transformed into animals!
It seemed as though they were all supposed to be part of a live streaming variety show!
Live streaming!
If that’s the case, then everything that had seemed strange to Qing Liu before now had a perfect explanation!
Why were these fluffy animals so intelligent? Despite being different species, they got along so harmoniously. And that little ball that followed them around, flying here and there, turned out to be a piece of equipment for the live stream!
So all her actions these past few days had been watched by everyone?
Had she made a fool of herself?
Thinking about her performance over the past few days, the little cat felt suffocated.
She quickly ran upstairs, then dashed into a room and tried to slam the door shut. The little ball followed right in, and all the viewers in the live stream room watched as the little cat rushed into the room, closed the door, then climbed up to the top of a tall cabinet, slightly hunching over, staring fixedly at the spinning little ball in the air.
The audience, watching from a third-person perspective, now found themselves face-to-face with the little cat, their eyes locked.
The little cat’s green pupils were fixed intently on the live streaming ball, not moving for several seconds.
This was the first time the audience had seen the little cat look so serious, and as her eyes met theirs, everyone instantly held their breath. They even forgot to send comments, all of them just staring at the little cat, curious to see what she would do next.
Suddenly, the little cat sprang into action, leaping from the cabinet and pouncing toward the live streaming ball!
The audience: “……”
The live streaming ball was equipped with AI, and the staff had programmed it so that its distance from the guest couldn’t be less than one meter or more than five meters.
If it was too close, it couldn’t focus properly, if it was too far, the viewers couldn’t use the main perspective. The main perspective allowed viewers to switch to the guest’s viewpoint, where they couldn’t see the guest but could see what the guest was seeing.
And the little cat’s sudden pounce was aimed at grabbing the ball, with the intent to throw it into the toilet and flush it down the drain!
However!
She had underestimated the AI’s sensitivity. The moment the little cat leaped into action, the ball, sensing the distance between itself and the cat, began to retreat.
It had a firm grasp of the “safe distance”!
The little cat didn’t manage to catch the ball, and having jumped from such a high cabinet with nothing below to cushion her fall, she just watched helplessly as she landed with a “thud” on the carpet, tumbling twice due to inertia.
After rolling on the floor for two complete turns, she was completely dazed.
The audience, who witnessed the whole thing: “……”
So, what exactly was the little cat doing?
【The little cat’s daily baffling behavior—don’t try to understand cats, you can’t.】
【Emmmm… The little cat is really mischievous.】
【Ah, the little cat’s somersaults are so cute.】
【The little cat is so impressive, she jumped so high!】
【Sorry, everyone, my wife is embarrassing us. I’ll take her home and teach her not to wag her tail when she jumps next time.】
【And don’t wag your tail when doing somersaults, or your little butt will be fully exposed!】
—
The viewers in the live stream didn’t know the little cat’s true intentions. They teased her playfully and even mocked the two men who were still standing in the garden, dazed.
Chester and Eric, though they didn’t see clearly, had definitely noticed a white blur dash into the villa.
After spending a few days with her, they immediately recognized it was the little cat!
But why had the little cat come in so early? And why was she still in animal form?
What was going on?
The two men exchanged a look. While Eric remained calm, Chester was much more anxious.
He paused for a few seconds, watching as the little cat’s figure disappeared into the villa.
Suddenly, it dawned on him, and he immediately rushed to follow her.
“Where did my little cutie go?”
As Chester ran, he spoke to the viewers in the live stream: “You must know what’s going on! Why is the little cat still in animal form? Has something gone wrong with her mental energy?”
Chester was extremely anxious.
People possessed mental energy, but they were also constrained by it. The higher the mental energy, the more they needed a partner’s comfort. Similarly, those with lower mental energy were more prone to instability. People with low-level mental energy couldn’t transform into animal form, or couldn’t change back from animal form—this was no longer an isolated case.
Looking at the little cat in her animal form, it was clear that her mental energy wasn’t high. Had staying in animal form for so long caused her to be unable to change back to human form?
Was that why she had stayed in the villa, too self-conscious to come out and face them?
Chester had, without realizing it, come up with the perfect excuse for the little white cat.
If Qing Liu had heard this, she would have applauded and given him a thumbs up.
Even the viewers who had been laughing at the little cat’s somersaults now paused and started to think.
【Ah, honestly, I’ve been wondering about this. Wasn’t the little cat not preparing for the confession segment? Could it be that something happened with her mental energy, and she couldn’t transform back into human form?】
【I’m studying mental energy mimicry! Our professor has said that people with unstable mental energy shouldn’t casually transform into animal form, or they’ll run into problems!】
【Ahhh, no way, no way, the little cat is so cute, but what if she can’t turn back into human form? What are we going to do?!】
【But I’ve noticed a big issue! All the other guests have companies supporting them, but the little cat doesn’t! Could it be that the agency is purposely neglecting her?】
【Help! This lousy production team! They keep saying they’ll test the guests’ mental energy before the live stream starts, but what test? It’s clear that the little cat has a problem with her mental energy! How do you explain that, @Destined Match Official?】
—
The production team: “???”
The staff were collectively stunned.
Before the guests went live on the “Destined Match” show, they had indeed undergone mental energy testing!
After all, if something went wrong with any of the guests during the program, no one would be able to take responsibility, right?
Director Zhang Song asked the staff member in charge of this area, “Where’s the mental energy test report for the little cat?”
The staff member quickly printed out the report and handed it to Zhang Song.
Zhang Song had only seen the result before, not the detailed breakdown. After reading the discussions in the live stream, he felt a jolt of concern, suspecting that someone had been negligent and had set him up.
However, after carefully reviewing the report, there was no issue at all!
The little cat, whose real name was Qing Liu, was 21 years old, and her mental energy was rated at level D. She was a poor student from the wasteland star, a place lacking in resources and with backward technology, where awakening mental energy was a rare phenomenon.
So when Qing Liu awakened her mental energy, even though it was only a D rank, she had still received a special invitation from the main star empire’s schools and was granted a pass to the main star as a student.
Since awakening her mental energy, despite its low level, it had always remained stable.
So there shouldn’t be any problem.
Zhang Song furrowed his brows. So what was going on with the little cat?
He opened his smart brain and called Qing Liu’s manager, Lilith: “Hello, this is Zhang Song.”
When Lilith heard it was Zhang Song, she immediately greeted him warmly: “Hello, Director Zhang. You’re contacting me at this time—did something happen with Qing Liu?”
Was this really a rhetorical question? Didn’t she see the huge incident happening in the live stream?
Lilith was a middle-aged woman with red hair and black eyes. She wasn’t very well-known, and the few artists under her care had little to no resources. She had been looked down upon by her colleagues for years and had struggled to hold her head up at work.
But now, things are different. As she watched the little white cat on the live stream, a slightly calculating look appeared on her otherwise sharp face.
Zhang Song said to her, “Qing Liu hasn’t followed our rules, and now she still hasn’t shown any intention of turning into human form. What’s going on? You know the rules, yet you didn’t arrange a team to pick her up and left her here alone. At first, I thought you were aiming for an unstyled appearance, but now it’s clear that’s not the case. What is this, are you going to break the contract?”
It was important to note that their contract had clearly outlined the rules: minor issues could be overlooked, but the [1]“Major milestones” refers to significant or important events or achievements that need to be completed as part of a process or project. In this context, it refers to the key rules or … Continue readingmajor milestones had to be followed. Otherwise, how could the show proceed?
Lilith, upon hearing this, turned to look at the girl sitting across from her in the office.
This girl was two years younger than Qing Liu, and her animal form was also a cat—white hair and green eyes, much like Qing Liu. However, Qing Liu’s pupils were emerald green, looking like two pure gemstones up close.
This girl’s pupils were a lighter shade of green, with a hint of amber near the edges. Those familiar with her would immediately recognize the difference, but someone who didn’t know her might not notice. With some contact lenses and by dyeing the tips of her hair white, she could easily pass as Qing Liu.
The girl’s animal form wasn’t as white as Qing Liu’s—it wasn’t like a fluffy cloud. Her fur on her ears and limbs was gray, and though they were both cats, a careful comparison revealed many differences.
In fact, this girl’s animal form was twice the size of Qing Liu’s. Qing Liu was a small bundle, able to nest on the head of a brown bear.
But this girl’s animal form could probably lay on a brown bear’s head, with her limbs hanging down.
After all, cats come in all sizes—one head can’t hold them all!
But these weren’t the real problems.
Because the part of the show that required the animal forms had already passed.
From here on out, they were supposed to appear in human form.
With an apologetic tone, Lilith said to Zhang Song, “I’m really sorry, Director Zhang, but Qing Liu has encountered some problems and might not be able to continue with the live broadcast.”
Zhang Song furrowed his brows. “What do you mean? Are you pulling out?”
Lilith quickly replied, “No, Director Zhang, let me come over and discuss it with you in person.”
Zhang Song glanced at the time, there was still more than an hour before the confession segment officially began, as they needed to wait for all the guests to arrive.
He agreed, saying, “Then hurry up!”
After hanging up, Lilith turned to the girl, who was already dressed, and said, “Let’s go.”
The girl’s hair had been dyed white, flowing down to her waist. Her pupils were now emerald green, her skin pale, and her features delicate.
She looked at Lilith with some worry and said, “Sister Lilith, are you sure this won’t be a problem? I’m a little worried.”
Lilith shot her a glance and sternly said, “You’ve already signed the contract. Are you backing out now?”
The girl immediately shook her head. “No! I’m just worried about being found out.”
Lilith patted her on the back reassuringly. “How could it be? As long as you act well, no one will notice.”
The girl nodded vigorously, still a bit agitated.
Qing Liu’s rise to fame was so sudden, or rather, the little cat became a sensation overnight.
Even Lilith hadn’t expected the person she was about to give up on to have such potential.
However, the plan for Qing Liu had originally been to follow a “[2]“black and red” path (黑红路线) is a publicity strategy used in entertainment and social media, particularly in China. It involves intentionally generating controversy, often by … Continue readingblack and red” path, forcefully tying her to too many people to stir up publicity. This resulted in collective attacks from those people’s fans, even to the point of her being completely blacklisted online.
With this, once Qing Liu’s true identity was exposed, the backlash would be even stronger, and the little cat’s popularity would be wasted.
But if they switched to someone with less baggage…
Lilith glanced at the girl beside her. She was the substitute Lilith had just found. A newcomer, still a student, with some rumors surrounding her. The gossip was that she had been “kept” by a sugar daddy, and some even claimed she had multiple sugar daddies—two or three, in fact.
However, what celebrity hasn’t been the subject of such rumors? Without concrete evidence, they’re nothing more than baseless gossip—not worth considering at all.
Having her replace Qing Liu was practically perfect!
At this moment, Qing Liu was still hiding in her room, unaware that her manager had found a substitute for her.
She couldn’t handle the live stream ball, so she thought for a moment and then rushed into the bathroom. The bathroom was a no-go zone for the live stream ball, and sure enough, it didn’t follow her inside.
After closing the door, Qing Liu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
It was terrifying!
She had been living under the live stream cameras all these days—it was simply absurd!
Qing Liu paced around the bathroom, then grew tired and changed back into human form, sitting despondently on the toilet.
However, this time, she suddenly realized that other memories had started to surface in her mind!
The last time she turned into human form, it was probably because saving the brown bear had drained so much of her mental energy. This time, she was fine, so the original owner’s memories began to merge with hers.
She spent more than half an hour in the bathroom, fully integrating the original owner’s memories. Though her head was still a bit dizzy, at this moment, having the original owner’s memories was like a lifeline for her!
With a heavy heart, she opened her terminal and took out the clothes inside—just ordinary clothes, since the original owner was very poor and her agency had treated her harshly, constantly cutting her pay.
The terminal also contained other things belonging to the original owner, but Qing Liu didn’t have the time to go through them now.
After getting dressed, she sat back down on the toilet, feeling troubled.
Thinking about the live broadcast show and recalling her actions over the past few days…
Qing Liu: “…”
This is really ridiculous!
The main point is! Not only was she embarrassed about her actions as a cat, but now she also realized that she seemed to be the “blacklisted guest”!
And the three male guests… seemed, maybe, possibly… had shown some interest in her.
Yet she had acted like a master of “[3]“Just being there” refers to someone who is present or involved in a situation but is not actively participating or contributing in a meaningful way. It’s often used to describe … Continue readingjust being there,” a player casting out bait for fish, and a heartbreaker flitting from flower to flower!
Qing Liu: “…”
‘Cat breathing heavily jpg.’
And at this moment—
She heard a knock on the door. A man was anxiously calling from outside, “Little cutie, are you in there? Do you need help?”
Qing Liu: “…”
Little cutie, was he calling her?
How embarrassing! If he found out she was the “blacklisted guest,” imagining the grand spectacle of being attacked by dozens of fan groups online, she wasn’t sure he could still call her “little cutie.”
At this point, he’d probably start calling her “[4](大黑料, dà hēi liào) in english is “Big scandal”: “大” (dà) means “big,” and “黑料” (hēi liào) refers to “scandal” or … Continue reading)Da Heiliao” instead!
Thinking about how she’d named the brown bear “[5](大黑, dà hēi) in english “Big Black”: “大” (dà) also means “big,” and “黑” (hēi) means “black.” “Big scandal” (大黑料, dà … Continue readingDa Hei” made her heart ache a little.
“Little cutie? Are you calling the little cat?”
It was another man’s voice.
“Of course, what else would I call her? I don’t even know her name.”
Chester’s tone was filled with worry, tinged with a hint of grievance.
Eric, standing outside the door, glanced at the closed door and said, “She might need some time to prepare. Maybe we should wait upstairs.”
At the same time, the other guests had started to arrive.
Chester thought for a moment and agreed, “You’re right. The little cat hasn’t turned into her human form yet. Maybe she’s just not ready?”
He then shouted loudly at the door, “Little cutie, should we go upstairs now?”
Qing Liu was curled up in the bathroom, completely not prepared to go out.
After all, she had no idea how to face these fluffy creatures.
Since they said they were going upstairs, that was even better!
She thought they would leave after finishing their sentence, but she had forgotten that the Bear was no ordinary person—he was a bit stubborn.
Chester didn’t hear any response from the little cat, so he grew worried. He still stood at the door, saying, “Little cutie, little cat? Did you hear me?”
A moment passed.
“Little cat? You didn’t faint, did you? Are you alright? If you’re okay, can you answer me?”
Another moment passed.
“Little cutie, if you don’t answer me, I’m going to break the door down!”
It was clear that Chester’s tone was filled with genuine concern.
He was really worried something had happened to the little cat, especially since she hadn’t said a word since entering the bathroom.
Even a meow would’ve been fine.
Meanwhile, the viewers in the live stream, watching the bathroom door, seemed to understand Qing Liu’s embarrassment.
【Hahahahaha, sorry, it’s a bit ridiculous but I really want to laugh.】
【The little cat just wanted to go to the bathroom, why is it so hard?】
【But, but! I can understand Chester’s worry! I’m really worried something happened to the little cat now!】
【Chester is so worried about the little cat, why isn’t she talking? She didn’t really faint, did she?】
—
As the viewers in the live stream were discussing among themselves and Chester was increasingly worried outside the door, Qing Liu, feeling helpless, could only lie behind the bathroom door and respond softly, “I’m fine, you guys can go upstairs first.”
Qing Liu’s voice was soft, filled with embarrassment and helplessness, but it was loud enough for both the live stream audience and the two gentlemen outside the door to hear!
Chester’s face instantly turned red.
He nervously gripped his clothes and said to the door, “Ah, okay, I’ll go upstairs now.”
Blushing, Chester turned around, thinking to himself that the little cutie’s voice sounded so nice—gentle and soft, just like her beast form, so adorable!
The live stream chat began to stir:
【The little cat’s voice is really nice too! You can tell she’s a cute soft girl just by her voice!】
【No way, no way, Chester turned red just from hearing her voice? This is just the beginning!】
【Eric is truly a big shot! Look at his calm and composed expression, it really makes Chester look inexperienced!】
【I really like the little cat’s voice. If she were an actress or singer, she’d definitely be famous! Her voice is so beautiful.】
—
Eric, who had been silent outside the door, slightly pursed his lips. Though he didn’t say anything, after hearing the little cat speak, he did feel relieved. Moreover, her voice was indeed very pleasant—soft and sweet, it seemed to curl around his ears, like a cat’s paw gently scratching at his heart, tickling it.
As the two men headed upstairs, two ladies, dressed in elegant outfits, entered the room, arm in arm.
Both ladies were very beautiful. The one with black hair had a slightly fuller figure, and her round face was quite cute. The red-haired lady had an extremely curvy figure. She wore a spaghetti strap dress, and her chest was so full it made the men blush when they looked at her.
“Wow, you’re here really early.”
The lady with black hair said, “Mr. Eric, long time no see!”
Eric gave a gentlemanly nod, “Long time no see, Ms. Luo Yun.”
Luo Yun is the panda, a very talented singer who was once invited to perform at a family banquet hosted by Eric. The red-haired lady is Miss Xiao Ling, a beauty influencer with over a billion intergalactic followers. Her popularity rivals that of the stars.
The four of them walked together upstairs, while the golden-haired tiger’s aircraft just arrived at the villa’s entrance.
Han Luofeng actually lives in the Sky City, and his studio team is located there as well. However, his mother placed great importance on the confession segment of the show. Regardless of the little cat’s spiritual power level, what mattered was that her son liked her!
It’s not easy to get their son to find someone, so mother Han enthusiastically prepared a suit and gifts for him.
This delay was what caused Han Luofeng to be the last guest to arrive at the villa.
Wearing a black formal suit, as he stepped off the aircraft, he turned around and noticed another aircraft behind him. At first, he thought it was one of the show’s guests, so out of courtesy, he decided to wait a moment for them.
He even secretly thought to himself, “If it’s the little cat, that would be great. Then I could go in with her.”
However, as the other aircraft got closer and parked outside the villa’s garden, Han Luofeng realized it wasn’t the show’s standard-issue aircraft.
For a popular variety show like “Destined Match,” everything, including the guests’ meals, accommodations, and transportation, was sponsored by brands—this included the aircraft.
Since it wasn’t the show’s aircraft, the person disembarking couldn’t be a guest.
Feeling a bit disappointed, Han Luofeng didn’t intend to wait any longer and, with his assistant, began walking toward the villa’s garden.
However, just a few steps in, from the corner of his eye, he suddenly saw two women exiting the aircraft. One was a middle-aged woman in a business suit, while the other was a young lady dressed in an extravagant pink gown. She had long white hair that cascaded down her back, and under the sunlight, her pair of emerald-green eyes looked like gemstones—pure and radiant.
Han Luofeng paused, his steps stopped.
