Seeing Golden Treasure’s appearance, Chen Feng was taken aback and asked, “Baby, what’s wrong? Did the space have a big explosion?”
Upon seeing Chen Feng, the Golden Swallow seemed startled once again, quickly got up, and began spinning around the Swallow Agarwood Tree at a dizzying speed, his short legs flipping so fast that they were a blur.
Chen Feng felt like she was witnessing scenes from a fast-paced movie or TV show from a previous life and couldn’t help but ask, “Is the baby acting silly? Can’t even fly properly?”
Ignoring the question, the Golden Swallow continued spinning in circles until he couldn’t go on, and collapsed on the ground, crying, “Sob, sob, if I could fly with my wings, I wouldn’t get tired even after flying for days. What should I do? I’m going to die, I don’t want to live anymore, it’s so uncomfortable.”
Sitting down beside him, Chen Feng looked at him and asked, “You’re being so dramatic. What’s really going on?”
Sobbing, the Golden Swallow said, “Mommy, didn’t you see that I’m bleeding from my nose?”
Upon close inspection, Chen Feng noticed two large, dark-red specks of blood above the Golden Swallow’s small beak. Shocked, she exclaimed, “Is the baby sick?”
The Golden Swallow choked back tears and said, “I’m not sick, I got a nosebleed from listening to a play.”
Recalling the events of the previous night, Chen Feng blushed and scolded, “You little troublemaker! Don’t you know not to eavesdrop, not to listen in on private matters, not to speak out of turn, and not to act inappropriately?”
The Golden Swallow cried, “I didn’t want to listen! I didn’t want to, but your commotion was so loud, it pierced my ears.”
After scolding the Golden Swallow, Chen Feng realized the reason for her distress. She chuckled, grabbed an empty bucket, and swiftly left the space. After filling the bucket with cool water, she re-entered the space and said, “Come on, baby, let’s give you a bath with cool water. You’ll feel better after washing up.”
The Golden Swallow hurriedly flew into the bucket and immediately jumped in. After a short while, he emerged dripping wet, shook off the water from his feathers, and exclaimed, “Wow, I feel so much better!”
Chen Feng gently held him in her palm and remarked, “Baby is growing up and starting to think about… spring.”
The Golden Swallow looked at Chen Feng in disbelief, gaping wide-mouthed.
Chen Feng gently closed his beak and explained, “It’s a natural part of growing up for animals to experience these changes and feelings…”
She then proceeded to give the Golden Swallow a brief lesson in hygiene and physiology.
The Golden Swallow finally understood – he was growing up and experiencing the effects of testosterone. After all, he was already one thousand and two years old this year. He lay down on the ground, staring into space with bright eyes, his beak tucked into his feathers.
Seeing the Golden Swallow in this state, Chen Feng decided not to ask any more questions and swiftly left the space.
After a short nap, she got up and opened the door. Autumn informed her that Chu Lingxuan had sent a servant to report that he was going to the Prince Rui’s residence and wouldn’t be back for dinner, asking Chen Feng not to wait for him.
Seems like he and the Seventh Prince were getting along quite well, their relationship had improved significantly since their last encounter.
After dinner, while Autumn was cleaning the room, Chen Feng entered the space once again.
The Golden Swallow had returned to normal, and a different fragrance filled the tranquil space.
Chen Feng inquired, “Did the baby eat green swallow nest again?”
The Golden Swallow chirped and giggled, “Yes, I’ve become an adult today, a day worth celebrating.”
Chen Feng congratulated her, saying, “Baby, I’m happy for you.” She then hinted, “Happiness should be shared, let others celebrate with you, and you’ll feel even happier.”
The Golden Swallow nodded in agreement and said, “Mommy is right.” With that, he spread his wings and flew off to the Golden house.
Chen Feng was thrilled, having the space for so long, she could finally taste the flavor of green swallow nest.
The Golden Swallow flew out and stood on Chen Feng’s palm, his beak extended. Chen Feng noticed a tiny bit of green swallow nest stuck to its beak, about the size of an eye booger. If it were a bit bigger, she would have found a way to let Chu Lingxuan taste it.
The Golden Swallow pursed his beak – she saw that coming.
Placing the green swallow nest on her tongue, a delightful fragrance spread across her taste buds. This indescribable scent overwhelmed her, filling her mouth with a delightful taste, leaving her feeling invigorated.
It’s something found in heaven but not on earth!
Those were the only words she could think of.
She savored the wonderful taste with her eyes closed, opening them only after the green swallow nest had melted. She exclaimed, “It’s truly marvelous! Thank you, baby. Congratulations once again!”
The Golden Swallow mentioned, “Eating this bit of green swallow nest not only improves Mommy’s physical condition but also makes her skin fairer and more radiant.”
Delighted by the news, Chen Feng happily kissed Golden Treasure’s beak.
The Golden Swallow seemed puzzled at first but then closed his eyes and said, “Mommy, why don’t I feel that special fluttering sensation?”
Chen Feng playfully flicked him on the head and explained, “We’re two different species, so it’s natural that you wouldn’t feel that way. You’ll only experience that when you meet your other half.”
Recalling her earlier question, she continued, “Baby, tomorrow I have to go to the princess’s residence to see that awful woman, and I really don’t want to see her. It’s just thirteen days away from your usual nesting time, can you come out early? If you can, help Mommy with that woman, just like with that old lady Chen.”
The Golden Swallow shrugged and said, “There are ways to deal with her, like pretending to be a ghost at midnight or having hundreds of birds fly over her house and poop. It’ll scare her half to death. But I can’t come out early, it’s impossible.”
Disappointed but somewhat excited about the spectacle, Chen Feng had to wait for over ten days. By then, she would have returned to Dingzhou Prefecture.
Disappointed, Chen Feng left the space. After rinsing her mouth, the lingering fragrance led her to burn a small piece of incense, filling the room with a delightful aroma. She leaned back on the bed, closed her eyes, and waited until Chu Lingxuan returned.
Chu Lingxuan kissed her and asked with a smile, “Did Feng wait for me?”
“Yes.” Chen Feng replied, opening her eyes.
