Chapter 12 Returning Home
The carriage slowly drove and finally arrived at the Shu Mansion.
The steward had already returned early to inform the mansion, and Shu Yuwans’ eldest and second sister-in-law were waiting for them in the main hall.
Madam Shu supported Shu Yuwans as they entered the main hall, and the eldest sister-in-law Tang and the second sister-in-law Zhou greeted them.
“Greetings, Mother.”
The two paid their respects to Madam Shu, then greeted Shu Yuwans. Tang stepped forward and held Shu Yuwans’ hand, “Sister, you’ve suffered enough, it’s time to let go!”
“It’s good to be back now,” Zhou sighed.
“Sisters, I apologize for the trouble.”
Shu Yuwans bowed to the two sisters-in-law.
“Now that I have returned, I will inevitably involve the nieces in their marriage affairs in the future.”
Tang comforted, “Sister, don’t worry. The girls are still young. They won’t discuss marriage for another ten years. Who knows what changes will happen by then.”
Zhou added, “Sister, settle down and don’t overthink.”
“Yes, you are pregnant now, so you mustn’t worry too much. If you have nothing to do, come and talk to your sisters.” Tang’s expression was gentle.
“Thank you for your understanding, sisters.” Shu Yuwans felt grateful. Not every sister-in-law could accept a sister-in-law who had left and returned. Although she did it to avoid a bleak ending for the Shu family in the future, the two sisters-in-law were unaware.
“Alright, you sisters will have plenty of time to sit down and chat in the future. For now, Yuwans, go back to the courtyard and rest.” Madam Shu felt sorry for her daughter, who had just experienced her first period and had been sitting in the carriage for so long. Although the doctor said there was nothing wrong, seeing the period, how could there be nothing wrong? It’s better to go back to her own courtyard and lie down, and then let the trusted doctor from the Shu Mansion come and take a look.
“We neglected you by just chatting with you.” Tang smiled, “Your courtyard has always been cleaned. Just now, Lu Yi came back to get the dowry list, and I had the urgent items added. Sister, go rest.”
Madam Shu was relieved. Her eldest daughter-in-law was considerate and kind, and she trusted her.
Although she would never let her beloved daughter suffer, having a daughter-in-law who could accept Yuwans would prevent many troubles.
“Thank you, sister.” Shu Yuwans thanked the eldest sister-in-law Tang and then, accompanied by Madam Shu, returned to the backyard.
In her Green Bamboo Garden, everything was the same as when she was unmarried. Her mother had always kept the courtyard for her.
She touched the wind chimes hanging in the corridor, and they made a tinkling sound. These were bought when she was a child, shopping with her two brothers. They had been kept until now. Since she had come back to this life, she must protect her family and not let them suffer the same fate again!
“Yuwans, don’t stand there. Go rest for a while and regain your strength. When Doctor Liu comes later, let him check your pulse.” Madam Shu’s voice interrupted Shu Yuwans’ thoughts.
“Mother, I’m really fine.”
“If you’re fine, let the doctor check your pulse for peace of mind. You’re pregnant now, so have Doctor Liu come every three days to check on you.” Madam Shu pressed her daughter onto the bed.
“Okay, I’ll listen to you!” Shu Yuwans coquettishly said.
Madam Shu lovingly held her daughter’s hand and said gently, “Rest well. I’ll go out first.”
“Okay, don’t worry, Mother.”
Shu Yuwans wanted to get up to see her off, but Madam Shu stopped her, instructed Qing He to take good care of Miss, and then left.
Now the Shu Mansion was still managed by Madam Shu, and she had to deal with the follow-up matters of Shu Yuwans’ return and departure. Naturally, Madam Shu was busy.
Although Shu Yuwans didn’t want her mother to worry, she didn’t dare tell her the truth. The period she saw was actually chicken blood.
If her mother knew she had orchestrated it all, it would be a disaster! She could only wait for Doctor Liu to confirm it so her mother would be reassured.
“Miss, we’re really back!” Qing He was still a bit dazed at the moment.
But since the decision to return and leave had been made, the people around her had started calling her Miss again.
“Yes, where else would you be?” Shu Yuwans joked.
“Anywhere is fine, as long as you’re there, I’ll be there.”
Shu Yuwans smiled contentedly, “Qing Dai and Mother Zhao probably won’t be back until tomorrow. Qing He, you take care and be alert outside. When the letter arrives, inform me immediately.”
“Miss, rest assured, I will take good care of you!” Qing He was full of determination, almost patting her chest to guarantee.
“Then we’ll rely on you, Qing He. I’ll take a nap first.”
Although she didn’t really see her period, after all the commotion, she was really tired.
On the other side.
Zhou watched her husband return to the room and asked in confusion, “Husband, didn’t you say today wasn’t really about letting Sister and their baby leave, but just taking this opportunity to stabilize Sister’s position in the Anding Marquis Mansion? Why suddenly send Sister back home?”
“When the steward came back and said Sister was coming back with shaoyu’s child, it really startled me. What’s going on?” Shu Yucheng explained the events of the day to Zhou in detail.
“Shaoyu actually doesn’t even want his legitimate children!” Zhou exclaimed.
“This scoundrel, I won’t let him off if I ever see him! I’ll beat him up every time I see him.” Shu Yucheng’s anger was still hard to dissipate.
Seeing her husband’s angry appearance, Zhou comforted him and couldn’t help but say, “Husband, this time it’s really not Sister’s fault. But, now that Sister have returned, I’m afraid it will affect shu family marriage in the future.”
