From Cradle to Courtroom Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Birth

Yuwan put aside her doubts.

Since she couldn’t figure it out for the time being, she would explore it slowly in the future.

Days passed leisurely, and it was finally approaching the month of childbirth.

On this day, after breakfast, Qing Dai and Qing He accompanied Yuwan for a walk in the garden.

Yuwan was puzzled, wondering why several days had passed since the time she gave birth in her previous life, yet there was still no sign of the child…

“Miss, the osmanthus cake this morning was delicious!” Qing He exclaimed cheerfully.

“You, always thinking about food!” Qing Dai teased.

Yuwan was willing to indulge Qing He’s little hobby and was about to defend her when she suddenly stopped, frozen in place!

“Qing He, quickly, go call for help! I’m going into labor!”

After hearing this, Qing He shouted to Qing Dai, “Qing Dai, watch over the Miss!”

And she ran off…

Madam Shu had already prepared a midwife and a nurse, who were staying near the Green Bamboo Garden. She also invited a skilled obstetrician to be present in the residence.

Upon returning to the Green Bamboo Garden, the midwife had already started preparing.

Shortly after, Madam Shu and two sisters-in-law also arrived at the Green Bamboo Garden.

“My child, don’t be afraid, Mother is here with you!” Madam Shu quickly stepped forward and held Yuwan’s hand.

Yuwan nodded, feeling the beginning of labor pains.

“Madam, don’t worry, the position of the baby is correct!” the midwife reassured.

“The young lady should endure the pain for now, don’t shout, save some energy.”

“Quickly, go bring a bowl of chicken soup for the young lady to drink,” the midwife instructed.

Qing Dai hurried to the kitchen.

Enduring the waves of pain in her abdomen, Yuwan drank a bowl of chicken soup.

“Madam, Miss, both of you go out and wait. It’s not good to have too many people in the delivery room!” the midwife advised.

“Alright, Yuwan, Mother will be at the door, no need to be afraid!”

Yuwan calmed down. She had given birth once before and was not inexperienced.

In the previous life, Qing Dai was born safely. This life, she had made thorough preparations, focusing on nurturing the baby. As long as there were no mistakes, there shouldn’t be any major issues.

However, the ensuing waves of intense pain quickly engulfed her, leaving her with no room to think about anything else.

“Listen to me, when I tell you to push, then push with all your strength.”

Yuwan was in too much pain to speak, so she nodded.

“Alright, start pushing, push! Push! Push!”

“Take a break…”

“The head is out, it’s almost there…”

“Push, push…”

Outside the room, hearing her daughter’s agonizing cries, despite having given birth to four children, Madam Shu couldn’t hide her anxiety.

Thinking about her daughter giving birth while the child’s father showed no concern and was worried about marrying another daughter, Madam Shu’s heart ached even more.

When Tang and Zhou gave birth, Shu Yuwan and Shu Yucheng, the two brothers, both waited outside until the child was born. Especially during Tang’s difficult birth, Shu Yucheng couldn’t help but enter the delivery room and stayed by his wife’s side.

Seeing this scene, the two sisters-in-law couldn’t help but feel sorry for their younger sister.

After three or four hours, finally, a loud cry of a newborn baby echoed.

“Congratulations, it’s a girl!” The midwife handed the baby to Yuwan to see. The maid supporting Yuwan lifted her head to take a look at the baby, who looked healthy!

When Madam Shu and the two sisters-in-law entered the room, Yuwan was still awake.

Madam Shu took the baby from the midwife’s hands, brought her to Yuwan’s side, and joyfully said, “My child, you’ve been through a lot!”

“The girl is well taken care of!”

Finally giving birth, Yuwan breathed a sigh of relief and felt very happy.

“Congratulations, little sister! From now on, we’ll have two little misses in our family!” Tang stepped forward happily.

“Yes, now our eldest daughter has a little sister too,” Zhou said to Madam Shu while looking at the child in her arms.

Madam Shu joyfully rewarded the midwife and others, then had the baby taken to the nurse for feeding.

Watching her eldest and youngest daughters, who had endured for three or four hours, Madam Shu also felt content and silently decided to treat her daughters-in-law better in the future.

“You must be tired, go back first,” Madam Shu said softly.

“Yes, Mother.”

“Sister, you rest first, we’ll come to see you later.”

Tang and Zhou left first.

Madam Shu looked at her exhausted daughter and said with concern, “Rest for a while, everything is fine with Mother here!”

Yuwan listened, her eyes slightly warm, nodded, and fell asleep peacefully.

She slept until dark and then woke up. Yuwan habitually touched her belly and then realized that Qing Dai had already been born.

“Qing Dai!”

“Miss, you’re awake!”

Qing Dai quickly approached.

“Miss, are you hungry? The kitchen is simmering pigeon soup. Shall I bring it for you to drink?”

“And the child?”

“The Madam was afraid that the little miss would disturb your sleep, so she had the nurse take her to the next room.”

“After the two young masters came back, they heard that you had given birth to a little miss. They came to see you and the little miss, but since both of you were asleep, they went to see the little miss and then left, saying they would come back later to see you.”

Qing Dai explained everything that happened after Yuwan fell asleep.

“Additionally, the Anding Marquis’s Mansion also sent someone. It was the mother of the Marquis’s wife, who brought a set of red gold bracelets and a necklace for the little miss. She also brought a message saying that you have given birth to the little miss of the Anding Marquis’s Mansion, and if you need anything, you can send a message to the Anding Marquis’s Mansion.”

Yuwan didn’t mind.

“If the Anding Marquis’s Mansion sends something, then accept it, my little Wenyue deserves it.”

“Yes, okay misss!”

“Did you name the child Wenyue?” Qing Dai curiously asked.

The Miss fell asleep right after giving birth, and she had already decided on the name for the little miss before sleeping!

Yuwan blushed slightly and habitually called her Wenyue.

“Yes!” she answered calmly.

“Bring the child for me to see.”

When the nurse brought the child over, the baby was sleeping soundly. The child looked much healthier now, chubby and rosy, with a little mouth moving as if babbling.

Yuwan took the baby, held her in her arms, and felt her heart swell with love!

Her Wenyue had come back to her!

No matter how much she disliked An Shaoyu, her baby was a presence she would never give up.

If she were reborn without being pregnant, she would definitely not want to be with An Shaoyu again, but then her baby wouldn’t exist anymore.

Reborn during pregnancy, although the situation would be much more difficult, she could be a mother to Wenyue again. She was truly grateful for this opportunity!

After holding the baby for a while, Yuwan handed her to the nurse to take her away.

She asked Qing Dai to bring a bowl of chicken soup noodles.

It was still morning when she had her last meal, and after drinking a bowl of chicken soup before giving birth, she was really hungry now…

Yuwan’s delivery went smoothly, and by the third day, she was feeling quite energetic.

As the month approached, she had recovered about seventy to eighty percent.

Madam Shu was very pleased with her progress.

She asked, “I noticed you’ve been calling her Wenyue all along. Have you named the child Wenyue?”

“Yes,” Yuwan replied, puzzled.

“Your father is asking, are you planning to have the child take the Shu or An surname?”
