Chapter 42 Prince’s Thoughts
“If Miss Shu favors me, it would be my honor!”
“Miss Shu is a noble lady from a prestigious family. Even after the separation, she remains a noble lady. Unlike some people whose behavior is improper and morals are corrupt, even if they are confined to their chambers, only those who are blind and ignorant would marry them…”
Not seeing any reaction from Shu Yuwan, Prince Shinzi quickly clarified his stance.
Zhao Qing Qing: You might as well just announce my name…
Even though the other party was Prince Shinzi, Zhao Qing Qing couldn’t help but feel angry at his words. She sarcastically remarked, “Miss Shu enthusiasm is truly beyond comprehension!”
“Third Lady An need not overthink it. Someone like Third Lady An, I would never marry. Miss Shu character is precious, and whether it’s me or any other man, we all understand that the separation is not Miss Shu fault.”
After hearing Prince Shinzi’s defense, Shu Yuwan couldn’t help but have a complete change of heart towards Prince Shinzi.
People in the capital always said that Prince Shinzi and the young master of the Chen family were the two tyrants in the capital, causing trouble everywhere. But now, rumors were ultimately unreliable.
Prince Shinzi had helped her several times already.
She respectfully bowed to Prince Shinzi to show her gratitude.
Seeing this, Prince Shinzi felt that this trip was worthwhile.
Since knowing that Shu Yuwan had moved out of the Shu Mansion, he often wandered around this area.
Today, seeing Zhao bullying Shu Yuwan at her doorstep, he couldn’t bear it and appeared to confront Zhao.
Seeing Shu Yuwan’s sharp words and Prince Shinzi’s sarcastic remarks defending her, Zhao Qing Qing couldn’t gain any advantage today!
“So Miss Shu caught the eye of Prince Shinzi, that’s why she separated from her husband!” Zhao Qing Qing covered her mouth, looking surprised, “People still blame me and my husband, it’s really unfair!”
“It’s a pity that Lady An doesn’t go to the theater!” Shu Yuwan mocked.
With a snort, Zhao Qing Qing left with her entourage.
“Miss, will this Zhao spread rumors outside and tarnish your reputation?” Although Mother Zhao was pleased that Prince Shinzi spoke up for their Miss, she was worried that Zhao might really spread rumors outside.
After all, their Miss was a separated woman!
There are many rumors in front of a widow’s door. Although their Miss was not a widow, her situation was not much better.
This Zhao had no shame.
“Don’t worry, even if Zhao spreads rumors, my mother wants a daughter-in-law from a prestigious family, she will naturally quell the rumors.”
Mother Zhao felt relieved after hearing this.
Looking at Prince Shinzi still standing in the distance, Shu Yuwan bowed from afar, “Thank you, Prince Shinzi, for helping me out today. I will ask my brother to thank you in person in another day.”
Prince Shinzi suppressed his excitement and politely said, “Miss Shu, you’re too kind. I’m just speaking the truth. Someone like you, even after the separation, is worthy of anyone.”
Shu Yuwan knew that Prince Shinzi’s words were polite, but his attitude towards her was much better than most people. Although her parents and siblings-in-law at home doted on her, she knew how people outside talked about her, just by the complaints her elder sister had when she returned.
“Thank you, Prince Shinzi, for your comfort. I live alone, so I won’t invite Prince Shinzi in for tea.”
Prince Shinzi also knew that she just wanted to look at him a little longer. Upon hearing this, he tactfully said, “Miss Shu, please, I will take my leave now.”
Seeing Prince Shinzi leave, Shu Yuwan also returned with Mother Zhao and a courtyard full of guards.
“Miss, Prince Shinzi is really nice.”
Qing He happily said, “Miss, Prince Shinzi seems to look at you…” The rest of the words are not suitable to say.
Shu Yuwan listened and chuckled. Prince Shinzi was of royal descent, the current emperor’s nephew and grandson. Despite the rumors of him being a playboy troublemaker, his royal lineage was undeniable. His attitude today was merely a show of respect for her.
She knew that dwelling on this matter would only invite ridicule.
“This kind of talk must not be mentioned again!” Shu Yuwan instructed Qing He.
Qing He understood and, knowing her place, felt happy that Prince Shinzi had defended their Miss.
“I understand!” Qing He stuck out her tongue playfully and coquettishly said to Shu Yuwan, “I’m just happy.”
Mother Zhao was also pleased. Normally, she would have spoken up for Qing He, but today she remained silent.
After the separation, although the Shu Family treated Miss well, whenever they went out, they heard people gossiping, saying that Miss had ruined her life and had become a discarded woman…
Today, Prince Shinzi’s defense truly relieved Mother Zhao.
But as Miss rightly pointed out, it was ultimately impossible. Drawing attention to it would only tarnish Miss’s reputation further…
Just when Mother Zhao felt relieved, she couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.
“Alright, let’s live our lives. No one from that family will dare to bully us again.”
…
Prince Shinzi returned home and hurriedly went to find the Queen Consort.
“Mother, did you say that as long as it’s a girl from a respectable family, I can marry her?”
Seeing her son’s excitement, the Queen realized that he finally had a girl in mind. “Yes, which girl have you set your eyes on?”
“Mother, let me make it clear to you. Besides this girl, I won’t marry anyone else. It can only be her.”
“Oh!” The Queen raised an eyebrow slightly. “Which family’s lady has caught your attention? You should tell me first!”
Prince Shinzi waved his hand, signaling everyone in the room to leave.
The Queen teased, “Oh, who is this mysterious girl? It’s rare to see you so serious.”
Prince Shinzi adjusted his expression and said, “It’s the legitimate youngest daughter of the Shu Family steward.”
The Queen’s expression immediately change. When she realized who her son was talking about, her stiff face still held traces of the excitement and anticipation from earlier.
Recalling her son’s recent actions.
From sending the hundred-year-old ginseng rewarded by the Emperor to the Shu Mansion, claiming it was to repay a favor to the Shu Family’s eldest son…
To causing a scene at the Shu Family’s doorstep with the young master of the Chen family over the Shu Family marrying a merchant’s daughter…
The Queen didn’t know how to react!
After a while, she finally found her voice, “This is absolutely impossible!”
“With so many eligible ladies in the capital, you want to marry a woman who has been married before! Moreover, the Shu Family, even having children a child from that An Shaoyu, do you want the Ning Mansion to bring that woman in?”
The Queen struggled to control her shocked voice.
“What do you mean by ‘that woman’! mother” Prince Shinzi was displeased with the Queen’s attitude.
“What’s wrong with a woman who has been married before? The separation was not her fault; it was An Shaoyu’s lack of intellect, mistaking pearls for fish eyes and vice versa!”
“If it weren’t for your fierce argument with your Father, sending me away to Qingzhou without a care, I wouldn’t have missed her, letting An Shaoyu, that spineless man, marry Shu Yuwan!”
