Chapter 64 Danger

Days passed by.

Soon, the Dragon Boat Festival was approaching.

The palace was going to hold a dragon boat race on the moat.

The  Palace sent someone to invite Shu Yuwan to watch the dragon boat race together.

Madam Shu hesitated, “Should I let Yuyang accompany you?”

Shu Yuwan shook her head, “Eldest sister-in-law is about to give birth, it could happen any day now, it’s better to let my eldest brother stay at home with her.”

“Then let Yucheng accompany you, your second sister-in-law hasn’t reached her due date yet.”

Shu Yuwan smiled, “I dare not ask my second brother to accompany me. Second sister-in-law has been pregnant for so long, my second brother spends most of his time in the study. After finally staying at home for a few days, I can’t take him away. Second sister-in-law would blame me.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll bring Zhang Yi and Caiyu with me, everything will be fine.”

Caiyu was the little maid who Shu Yuwan sent to Shu Yuwang after she fought An Shaoyu and Zhao Qing Qing. Caiyu practiced diligently by Shu Yuwan’s side every day, and now her skills were comparable to Zhang Yi’s.

“Alright then, there will be many people during the Dragon Boat Festival, bring Qing Dai and Qing He with you too.”

Madam Shu had been busy these days.

Both daughters-in-law were pregnant, and her daughter was about to get married, everything had to be taken care of.

On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, the streets were crowded.

Both of Shu Yuwan’s sisters-in-law were in their late stages of pregnancy and hadn’t returned to their maternal homes. Both brothers were at home with their wives and children.

Zhong Kui’s portrait was hung in the mansion, and noon leaves talismans were pasted. Mugwort and calamus were hung on each door.

Madam Shu made sachets for each courtyard, and Shu Yuwan personally made one for Wenyue, and also prepared one to give to the Crown Prince.

The Crown Prince sent someone early to pick up Shu Yuwan, which reassured Madam Shu.

The gatekeeper prepared the carriage, and Shu Yuwan took Wenyue and hurried to the restaurant near the moat.

As the carriage approached the moat, it became crowded.

Wenyue rarely went out, she peeked out from the corner of the carriage curtain and wanted to continue watching outside. Shu Yuwan was coaxing her when she suddenly felt the carriage stop.

Qing Dai poked her head out and asked, “What’s happening?”

The coachman replied, “Miss, there’s a girl ahead who got her leg injured by a passing carriage and fell in the middle of the road, blocking the way.”

Qing Dai looked and then reported to Shu Yuwan inside the carriage.

“Have two people take this girl to the clinic.”

Qing Dai put on her veil, got off the carriage, and made arrangements.

The injured woman was very grateful and said to Qing Dai, “I’m truly thankful young lady. I have nothing to offer, I will give my respect to the young lady.”

Qing Dai became alert, blocked the woman, and said with a smile, “My young lady has always been kind-hearted, there’s no need for you to worry. Hurry and go to the clinic to have your injury treated.”

The woman nodded, “Alright, then accept my respect for you.”

As she spoke, she knelt down and bowed towards the direction of the carriage.

When she stood up, she suddenly pushed Qing Dai away, rushed to the front of the carriage, took out a dagger from her bosom, and stabbed towards the carriage!

Qing Dai exclaimed, “Miss!”

She hurriedly ran towards the carriage.

Shu Yuwan sat in the carriage, saw the dagger coming towards her, subconsciously protected Wenyue in her arms, and turned her back to the dagger.

On the other hand, Caiyu reacted quickly, grabbed the woman’s wrist, and pushed her aside!

The dagger stabbed to the side, narrowly missing Shu Yuwan!

Caiyu tightened her grip on the woman’s wrist, opened the carriage curtain with her other hand, and kicked the woman!

The woman flew out, narrowly missing Qing Dai.

Qing Dai shouted, “Quick, catch her!”

The woman tried to run but was stopped by Zhang Yi, who came from behind the carriage.

The woman wanted to fight Zhang Yi, and the guards behind also rushed over. Together with Zhang Yi, they quickly captured the woman.

Seeing the situation under control, Qing Dai quickly entered the carriage and saw Wenyue hiding in Shu Yuwan’s arms, crying loudly. Shu Yuwan patted Wenyue’s back, comforting her, “Don’t be afraid, Wenyue, don’t be afraid, mother is here.”

“Miss, the woman has been captured.”

“Are you okay?”

Then she instructed everyone to hasten their pace and head to the Qingfeng Pavilion by the moat, where they were supposed to meet the Crown Prince today.

In the crowd, a young woman, unsuccessful in her attempt and caught by the Shu family’s people, quickly hid behind the crowd.

As Shu Yuwan’s carriage sped away, the young woman hurriedly ran towards a nearby alley.

An inconspicuous carriage was waiting there.

The young woman lifted the carriage curtain and went in. A beautiful woman dressed in a chest-high jacket and skirt was sitting inside, waiting, “What happened?”

The young woman knelt down and said, “Miss, it’s bad news, Liu Erniang has been caught!”

“What?”

“Then, is Shu Yuwan dead?”

The young woman shook her head in disappointment, “It should be fine. Liu Erniang rushed into the carriage with a dagger and was immediately caught. The Shu family’s carriage is still heading towards the Qingfeng Pavilion. If something happened, they would have gone to the clinic.”

Then she anxiously added, “Miss, Liu Erniang has been caught. If it leads back to you, what should we do?”
