Chapter 65 : I’ll Take You Home
These were Jiang Yu’s last few days in the city, as her introduction letter was about to expire and she had to return to the countryside.
Fortunately, she had already sorted out her relationship, so it wasn’t a total loss.
“I really don’t want you to go after staying for so long.”
Jiang Yu smiled brightly, “Auntie, I’ll come to visit you often.”
Yao Xiangling nodded. “You’re getting married soon anyway, so when I want to see you, I can just come by every day.”
He Tingyue had brought back quite a few things recently, but Jiang Yu didn’t want to take them.
“Just leave them for Auntie.”
Yao Xiangling teased, “Do you think Auntie needs these little things? After being in the city for so long, how can you go home empty-handed? He Tingyue is your support, his reputation is useful. You need to return home in style so your parents think twice about trying to sell you off.”
Especially that Jiang Hao, he definitely had bad intentions.
Jiang Yu felt warmth in her heart. During her time in the city, she had gained a lot,not just from He Tingyue.
She had made friends and grown closer to her aunt.
“Auntie, thank you.”
Yao Xiangling waved her hand. “Don’t mention it, hurry down. Little He is probably waiting anxiously.”
Jiang Yu’s cheeks flushed as she carried her luggage down the stairs.
When she arrived, her luggage was light, with barely a couple of clothes.
By the time she left, her bags were bulging and barely manageable.
“Auntie, I’m heading back now. I’ll come to see you tomorrow.”
“Go on, go on. If you don’t leave soon, Little He will turn into a stone waiting for you.”
Old Lady Zhao poked her head out to take a look. “Old Yao, does Jiang Yu have a boyfriend now?”
Yao Xiangling, who had never gotten along with her, responded curtly.
“Yes, she does. Stop lingering around my house.”
Old Lady Zhao had a nephew in the countryside who had come by multiple times, a lazy man in his thirties who couldn’t find a wife.
Since Jiang Yu arrived, Old Lady Zhao had been watching, hoping to match her with her nephew.
After being rebuffed by Yao, Old Lady Zhao felt embarrassed.
“Who’s lingering? I was just asking.”
With that, she unhappily shut the door.
At that moment, Jiang Yu had already walked down the stairs.
He Tingyue took her luggage, securing it in the back seat of his bike.
Jiang Yu was surprised. Where would she sit?
He Tingyue maintained his composure, patting the front bar.
“I prepared something for you to sit on, you can sit here.”
Jiang Yu widened her eyes slightly. It wasn’t that she found it uncomfortable.
It just felt like sitting in his lap.
He Tingyue got on the bike first, his eyes glimmering slightly.
“Xiaoyu, hop on.”
Jiang Yu felt a bit shy. “Is that really okay?”
He Tingyue replied, “We’re a couple and will be getting married soon. What’s the problem?”
Many people were seated like this on the street.
Had he not seen others do it, he wouldn’t have thought of it.
Sitting behind wasn’t ideal, he wouldn’t even be able to see Jiang Yu’s face.
Seeing he was insistent, Jiang Yu finally climbed on.
The bar was quite high, and she needed He Tingyue to help her sit, her feet dangling.
It wasn’t too uncomfortable since there was something under her, but it lacked a sense of security.
“If you can’t sit steadily, you can hold onto me.”
Jiang Yu was already sitting sideways, so hugging his waist would mean burying her face in his embrace.
She glared at him playfully. “I’m fine, just hurry up.”
A flicker of disappointment passed through He Tingyue’s eyes, but being this close to her already made him quite content.
In the time they spent together, their feelings had quickly heated up, but they had remained proper, not crossing any lines.
They had only held hands and hadn’t done anything out of the ordinary.
When Jiang Yu mentioned this to Xie Fei fei, Xie Fei fei shook her head, saying He Tingyue was indeed very serious.
She and Lin Changan had already kissed long ago.
Jiang Yu couldn’t help but glance up, noticing the sharp line of He Tingyue’s jaw.
Beyond that strong jawline were his lips.
His lips were somewhat thin, with a natural color, she wondered what it would feel like to kiss him.
Realizing what she was thinking, Jiang Yu quickly looked down, embarrassed by such shameless thoughts.
Before they knew it, they had arrived at the bus station.
He Tingyue pulled out money to buy tickets, and Jiang Yu hurriedly said, “I’ll do it myself.”
But he couldn’t be stopped, he had already bought two tickets.
Jiang Yu frowned. “I have money.”
He Tingyue replied, “If we get married, will you still be so concerned about this?”
“But we’re not married yet.” Yao Xiangling had given her twenty yuan and specifically warned her not to always spend a man’s money before marriage.
He Tingyue said seriously, “In my eyes, you’re already my wife. It’s only natural for me to spend money on you.”
Jiang Yu blushed again, feeling hot and glaring at him without any intimidation.
“Stop talking nonsense.”
“Alright, let’s get on the bus and grab a good seat.”
Jiang Yu finally realized he had indeed bought two tickets.
“You’re going too?”
He Tingyue placed the luggage securely, took her hand, and helped her onto the bus, letting her sit by the window and opening it.
These days, the buses not only carried people but also various livestock, filled with all sorts of smells that were quite overwhelming.
“I can take you home, if that’s alright?”
He had intended to do this from the start.
Jiang Yu didn’t answer immediately but instead asked, “Why?”
She found it a bit troublesome.
It took just over an hour to get from the city to Funan Commune, and then another half hour to walk home.
Too much hassle.
He Tingyue whispered, “There are many reasons.”
Jiang Yu bit her lip, tilting her head. “Then tell me the first one.”
“I’ll miss you, I want to spend more time with you.”
His words were not just straightforward, but his gaze was also very direct, filled with intensity.
Jiang Yu nervously looked away, her red lips slightly pouting.
“You’re always talking nonsense, you’ve learned to be bad.”
He Tingyue chuckled softly, leaning closer, his warm breath brushing against her ear.
Jiang Yu was perfection in his eyes.
Even her ears were delicately small, like seashells.
“I never talk nonsense.”
Jiang Yu glared at him. “What’s the second reason?”
He Tingyue’s expression darkened slightly. “I’m worried about your family. I need to tell them that you’re my future wife, so they won’t dare to mess with you.”
This was a declaration of ownership and also a way to protect Jiang Yu.
After all, Jiang Hao had set a bad precedent, and He Tingyue couldn’t be at ease.
He Tingyue wished he could marry Jiang Yu right away and cherish her properly.
“But if you come home with me, there will be no turning back,” Jiang Yu said softly.
Her words displeased He Tingyue. “Do you still leave yourself room for regret?”
His retort left Jiang Yu stunned.
Had he learned to turn the tables?
“No, I didn’t. When it comes to dating, lesbians are at a disadvantage. I’ve told many people about this.”
Even if He Tingyue didn’t go, she would still openly tell the villagers she had a boyfriend.
He Tingyue felt a sense of satisfaction. “I’ve never considered backing out. On National Day, I’ll go to your house to propose, alright?”
