From Peasant to Overlord: Rising in Rebellion with Billions in Supplies
From Peasant to Overlord: I succeeded in Rebellion with Billions of supplies. CHAPTER 5 “Going to the city”

The Ye family’s large room had long been a source of instability, and as the eldest sister, the responsibility of reviving it rested squarely on Ye Sangwan’s shoulders. But despite the challenges ahead, she felt prepared. She had her portable space—an automatic supply of medicine and food—ensuring that sustenance would never be a problem.

Yet, she couldn’t shake off the concern about their crumbling mud house. Could it survive the rainy weather that Zhu Chaozhang had warned her about?

Her immediate plan was clear: earn money quickly and build a stronger home. The safety of her family depended on it.

That night, lying restlessly in bed, Ye Sangwan wrestled with thoughts of what to do next. After some deliberation, she decided to take a chance. She would take the hundred-year-old ginseng tree she had carefully stored in her infirmary to the market and exchange it for silver. This ginseng, a gift from her adopted grandfather in her past life, held great value. Alongside it were a pine lingzhi tree and several traditional Chinese medicine herbs .

Ye Sangwan had a deep foundation in traditional Chinese medicine. Coupled with her years of study and knowledge assistance from Western medicine, she had cured ailments that even the best Western doctors had given up on and made great achievements in medicine. Though she ran a small infirmary at the factory, people sought her help from far and wide. It was a modest but steady income. Just like that Ye Sangwan slept that night preparing for the future ahead with renewed hope….

The morning light barely pierced the sky when Ye Sangwan was woken up by a persistent voice. Last night, worried about Xu Dani’s body, Ye Sangwan had moved her bedding to the room next to Xu Dani which was room of Ye Chuan to sleep for one night.

Ye Chuan is used to getting up early on weekdays. At this moment, he is rubbing his stomach and pleading to her with his big eyes, “Eldest sister… I’m hungry.”

(awwww poor baby 🥺, being a foodie myself I feel uncomfortable 😣 for kids who go hungry)

Her eyes fluttered open, and she saw her little brother, Ye Chu’an, standing by the bed, rubbing his stomach with pleading eyes. In her space, she had everything she could possibly need—breakfast options aplenty—but taking them out of the space wasn’t always practical. Still, she was happy to help.

“Are you hungry, Chu’an?” she asked, sitting up. “The eldest sister will cook something delicious for you.”

Ye Sangwan smiled as she quickly got out of bed. But she had a favor to ask. “I need your help. Can you go ask Grandpa Zhu if he can take us to town today?”

Chu’an’s face brightened. “Okay!” He ran out to do as she asked.

While Chu’an went on his errand, Ye Sangwan got to work in her space. She quickly cooked rice, porridge, and some stir-fried pickled cabbage. As an extra treat and also to supplement nutrition , she made a large pot of soy milk using her wall-breaking machine and steamed a bowl of hibiscus eggs.

But as she worked, the clock seemed to slow. She wondered, “Is the time in the space different from outside?” She had been working for more than half an hour, yet it was still dark outside.By the time everything was done, Ye Chuan still hadn’t come back.

Sipping her tea, she heard footsteps. Chu’an burst in with excitement. “Eldest sister, Grandpa Zhu said Brother Yunheng has borrowed an ox cart to go to town today. He said we can ride with him!”

Ye Sangwan’s heart lifted at the news. But before she could speak, Chu’an’s gaze landed on the food. “It smells so good! Can I eat some hibiscus eggs?” while salivating profusely.

“Of course!” Ye Sangwan replied. “But remember, we need to leave some for second sister, eldest sister-in-law and the baby in Sister-in-law’s belly.”

Chu’an’s face softened full of emotion and he nodded with understanding. “I’ll leave mine for the baby.”

Ye Sangwan’s heart swelled as she pinched his shrunken cheeks. “Good boy. From now on, I’ll cook eggs for you and everyone else every day.”

After breakfast, she sent Chu’an to wash the dishes and packed up supplies while refilling two carries of rice in rice jar. She took half of the local chicken from the fridge, chopped it up, and prepared a nourishing chicken soup with ginseng and Angelica for Xu Dani. She told Ye Chuan to wait for her and to smoke the pot and let him watch the chicken soup shimmer for Xu Dani to drink. She also made him promise to not around and instead accompany Xu Dani.

Her next task was to find a suitable basket. She wrapped up the hundred-year-old ginseng in an old but clean cloth and headed out, asking Chuan to take good care of Xu Dani in her absence. Thus, leaving home under Ye Chuan’s eager gaze when she promised to come back early and bring him candy Ye Sangwan walked forward.

When Ye Sangwan stepped outside towards the road leading to city, she saw Yunheng with a cow grazing by the roadside. The ox cart was nearby, covered with straw and a bunch to wild animals were either placed or tied to it. It was a modest setup, but it would get them to town.

“Yunheng,” she called out as she approached.

He turned toward her, his awkward smile betraying the tension. “Grandpa Zhu said you needed to go to town. I’ll take you.”

Ye Sangwan hesitated, but didn’t press him on why he hadn’t told her earlier also her home is at the end of the village completely opposite of the village entrance. But she choose not to Yun Heng’s lies, let alone feel good that he came to pick her up. She was more concerned about the girl standing nearby who face was changing colour as fast as a chameleon.

Miao Miao, the village beauty, was glaring at Yunheng with an unmistakable intensity. Ye Sangwan recognised her instantly. Miao Miao was known for being Yunheng’s ardent admirer, and she never hid her jealousy. Also according to the memory of the original owner, before Yunheng was recruited and left,Miao’s mother asked the matchmaker to go to Yun’s house with marriage proposal only to learn that Yun Heng already had an engagement with her. For this reason, Miao Miao who lost face, always made trouble for the original owner. The original owner was cowardly and naturally did not dare resist, so whenever she saw Miao Miao she would run as if a mouse spotting a cat.

“Brother Yunheng,” Miao Miao cooed as she approached, her voice dripping with sweetness. “I heard you’re going to town. Can you take me with you? I have some embroidery to sell.”

Her voice sent a chill down Ye Sangwan’s spine. The flirtation was too obvious. But Ye Sangwan still enjoyed the good thing of eating melons on the spot.

Yunheng didn’t even spare Miao Miao a glance as he prepared the cart. “It’s not a good way, the road is bumpy and besides we are already full. And don’t call me brother in future I don’t know you well.” he said curtly.

Miao Miao’s smile faltered, and her eyes narrowed fiercely at Ye Sangwan. But she didn’t have the chance to say anything further.

Ye Sangwan who was planning to enjoy the show lying down but was now innocently shot had a question mark on her face. She hurriedly replied, “Brother, I don’t mind.” She was about to continue but was threatened to become quiet when being stared by Yun Heng’s cold eyes. Mama Mia why as I getting dragged in between these two she thought.

“You heard him,” Ye Sangwan said, stepping forward with a knowing look. “The way is rough. You won’t want to be jostling on that cart.”

Miao Miao glared at her but said nothing. The next moment Yunheng cracked his whip, the ox started moving, brushing past Miao Miao with such force that it sent dust flying into her face.

Ye Sangwan couldn’t help but stifle a laugh when looking at miaomaio’s embarrassment . “Yunheng, you’re ruthless.”

He glanced at her, his expression still cold but with a hint of amusement.
“I don’t like being used as a shield.”Ye Sangwan raised an eyebrow while speaking “Don’t think I’m going to be your excuse every time someone tries to get close.”

Yunheng just gave her a brief nod before directing the cart forward. The awkwardness was palpable, but Ye Sangwan couldn’t help but enjoy the moment. When she got off the ox cart Yun Heng stuffed a hare and a pheasant in her arms quickly clarifying her objections saying this the fee for your help before. Whit everything settled he turned around and left swiftly leaving her no chance to chase or call him.

Looking at the two fat game in her hand, Ye Sangwan imagined a hundreds of ways to cook hare and pheasant never thinking of returning the thing after all it was the appearance fee and was given voluntarily by Yun heng she felt no psychological burden. She walked to an isolated place and put the excess things into the space. Then went on to carry out her objective of selling medical supplies. As she reached the door of the most famous medical center in town, Ye Sangwan was surprised to see a commotion outside the prestigious Jingshan Medical Center. A noble lady in fine clothing was arguing with the doorman.

“Madam, we told you, we cannot save him and it’s not about money.”the doorman said, holding a broom and blocking the entrance. “If he’s not cured, he’s beyond our help.”

The noblewoman’s eyes filled with tears as she clutched her young son. “Please, you must help him! My Xuan’er still has breath. How can you say he is going to die ? I think your do in Jingshan Medical Center are simply quacks and murderers.”The boy’s face was pale, lips tinged with purple, and his breathing ragged looking as if he was living on borrowed time.

The doorman was furious with the words of the noble lady. He quickly picked up the broom next to the door and attacked the noble lady and others, beating their masters and servants to retreat until they retreated to the main road.

“Get out of here! We, Jingshan Medical Center, are not living immortals. If we can’t cure it, nobody other can do it! If you ruin the reputation of our medical center, even if you are a lady, I won’t miss you!”

“You!” The noble lady was angry and anxious. Seeing that her little son in her arms was getting more and more unresponsive, she had to kneel on the ground and cry. “Little brother, I was wrong, I am the villain. Please help me. Xuaner can’t die…”. The door man snorted in disgust and stood aside indifferently with a broom, ignoring them as air.

Ye Sangwan frowned and couldn’t help walking towards the lady while examining the child in her arm she noticed he was a five-six year old boy with milky smooth skin and chubby arms and legs just that his face was ashen instead of usual rosy colour, his quivering lips were purple and he was panting with discomfort and his throat made a strange sound of‘clicking’.

“Madam, please allow me to try. I’ve been trained in medicine since I was young. I may be able to help.” Ye Sangwan was a little anxious hoping to save his asap.

The noblewoman looked at her tattered clothes, her dry yellow hair making her look like a beggar and hesitated, but then, seeing the desperation in Ye Sangwan’s eyes, she nodded especially after seeing her big black eyes were bright and deep like a pool of soft and a clear lake, full of convincing confidence.

“Please, help my son. I don’t know what else to do.” The lady pleaded while handing her son tho Ye Sangwan ignoring her maidks who still wanted to stop her and glared at them instead.

Ye Sangwan took the boy in her arms, she found he was not big but very heavy her mind raced as she assessed his symptoms. “Did he eat anything hard? Fruit, peanuts, or melon seeds?”

“Yes, yes,” the lady said. “He was eating fruit when the carriage hit a stone.”

Ye Sangwan acted quickly, her hands steady as she worked, the world around her fading into the background. She had done this before—many times. She could save him.
