Chapter 013: Point Allocation

“Take this too. This potion has no side effects—it can restore 50 HP in a short time. Keep it for later use. Get a good rest tonight, and come find me tomorrow when you’re free.”

The village chief handed the potion to Yun Xi firmly, leaving no room for refusal. Clearly, he was aware that Yun Xi had saved his two grandsons.

Having her come to him tomorrow was his way of offering formal thanks.

Yun Xi didn’t decline further. She knew the chief’s heart was still with his injured grandsons.

Just then, the middle-aged man arrived.

Yun Xi could tell at a glance that his injuries were mostly superficial. Since he’d managed to kill a level 2 phantom rat on his own, his martial level must not be low either.

He happened to hear the tail end of the conversation between his father and Yun Xi. Realizing she was the one who saved his sons, the coldness he had shown her since the beginning finally faded, replaced by a faint gratitude.

After bringing the two wounded boys back to the bonfire, Yun Xi didn’t disturb their family moment. She returned quietly to her small wooden hut.

Tonight’s crisis had passed. There probably wouldn’t be more phantoms coming. The earlier anomaly at the bonfire was likely caused by the rat leader’s phantom skill, attempting to bring its spawn to try their luck.

Too bad it hadn’t expected the village chief to be a level 10+ powerhouse. A complete miscalculation on its part.

Yun Xi sat cross-legged on her straw-covered bed and opened her personal panel.

From the earlier battle, she had gained 10 free attribute points and 3 free skill points. She had split the attribute points evenly between her two main stats.

Before:

  • [Spirit: 29]
  • [Physique: 6]
    Now:
  • [Spirit: 34]
  • [Physique: 11]

She chose to increase Physique not just for the low HP—Physique also affects agility and strength. With enough points available, Yun Xi wouldn’t hesitate to invest in survivability.

In addition to that, she had killed 9 Level 1 phantom rats and 2 Level 2 rats, earning a total of 90 + 40 = 130 EXP.

On the Fallen Gods Continent, leveling from 1 to 10 doesn’t require much EXP. Each level needs:
(current level × 10) EXP
From 10 to 20:
(current level × 100)
and so on.

With 130 EXP, Yun Xi jumped straight to Level 4, earning 8 free attribute points and 4 free skill points.

[Basic Panel]

  • Name: Yun Xi
  • System ID: ******826927
  • Race: Human
  • Age: 20
  • Level: 4
  • EXP: 30/50
  • HP: 110/110 (Beginner Spellcaster HP = Physique × 10)
  • Spirit Energy: 24/340 (Beginner Spellcaster Energy = Spirit × 10)

[Profession Panel]

  • Main Class: Spellcaster
  • Secondary Class: Chef
  • Free Skill Points: 7

[Attribute Panel]

  • Spirit: 34
  • Physique: 11
  • Luck: 92 (Max 100, cannot be manually allocated)
  • Charm: 96 (Max 100, cannot be manually allocated)
  • Free Attribute Points: 8

After a moment of thought, Yun Xi once again split the 8 free attribute points evenly between Spirit and Physique:

  • [Spirit: 38]
  • [Physique: 15]

As for the 7 free skill points, she distributed them into spellcaster skills:

  • [Spirit Control Lv4]:
Exclusive spellcaster skill. Allows full control of Spirit Energy; effectiveness scales with Spirit stat.
  • [Basic Water Ball Lv3]:
Consumes 10–300 Spirit Energy to form a water ball. Can deal 124–414 water-element damage (Formula: Spirit × skill level + energy consumed).
  • [Basic Water Arrow Lv3]:
Consumes 10–300 Spirit Energy to form a water arrow. Can deal 124–414 water-element damage (same formula).

Spirit Control is the core spellcaster skill—other spell levels can’t exceed its current level.

Now that Water Ball and Water Arrow were at Lv3, their maximum energy capacity and damage potential had significantly increased.

A single spell from Yun Xi could now deal up to 414 damage, enough to instantly kill a Level 2 phantom rat.

This was thanks to her high Spirit stat. A typical Level 4 spellcaster, even with the maximum starting Spirit of 10 and full level-up allocation (+8), would only reach 18 Spirit.

With that, their max energy would be 180, and the best they could do with a Lv3 skill would be:
18 × 3 + 180 = 234 damage

But in truth, spellcasting is more efficient with minimal energy cost.

For instance, Yun Xi could deal 124 damage for just 10 energy. That meant using four 10-energy attacks (40 energy total) would outdamage a single 300-energy burst.
High-cost bursts are only suitable for one-shot kills, not for sustained combat—they’re not efficient.

Coming back to her senses, Yun Xi looked at the potion the chief gave her.

Without the Appraisal skill, she couldn’t verify its exact effects—but based on the condition of the wounded, it clearly worked. Their injuries were healing slowly after consuming it.

She glanced around the small hut and chose to store the potion in the bedside drawer.

Unfortunately, her starter village was too small. There was no proper shop to buy decent items—if there had been, she could’ve bought a storage item to carry potions.

Her Soul-Bound Space was also crammed full of red spirit crystals. Even though she had already extracted 10,200 red crystals, the space was still limited—best to save it for other important things.

After all that, Yun Xi closed her eyes and began to absorb Spirit Energy from the air.

Once she reached her max limit of 380 Spirit Energy, she stopped.

It was still midnight. Several hours remained until dawn, so Yun Xi opened the system and chose to log out.

This time, she returned to Blue Star (the real world)—to prepare for her secondary class advancement: Pharmacist.

After changing out of her coarse starter robes, she went straight to the city’s largest bookstore, buying up all the books related to medicine, especially anything on traditional Chinese remedies. Yun Xi didn’t leave a single one behind.

Western medicine was a bit too complicated for her current level. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), on the other hand, was simpler. At the very least, she could look up preparation methods online.

To become a Pharmacist, Yun Xi had to craft one effective potion herself, then infuse it with Spirit Energy to qualify for the class.

She chose the simplest recipe: Danggui Blood-Tonic Soup, made with 20g Astragalus, 6g Angelica, etc.

Just like food recipes from Blue Star could be recognized by the system, as long as a medical recipe worked, it would be valid for the class change.
