Chapter 004: System

When she opened her eyes again, Yun Xi was already in an unfamiliar environment.

Shrouded in a dark mist, a campfire nearby cast a warm glow.

Yun Xi glanced around. As expected, she had been randomly “born” into a beginner village.

Near the campfire stood a few scattered, simple wooden huts.

This so-called beginner village couldn’t even be called a “village.” It was pitifully small.

She looked down at her outfit—just plain, coarse linen clothing. Her starter gear included ten copper coins and an identity badge.

Yun Xi took out the identity badge and examined it. The front bore a complex circular symbol, and the back displayed her personal information.

“Who are you?” A wary voice suddenly came from behind her.

Yun Xi wasn’t alarmed. Newcomers had a three-day protection period—whether human or monster, no one could harm her during this time.

She turned to see a middle-aged man holding a torch. Dressed in black coarse cloth, his face was unshaven, and his eyes were sharp.

The moment he saw Yun Xi’s face, the tension in his gaze eased slightly. He seemed to recognize her status.

“You’re a newly arrived adventurer? Please show your identity.”

Yun Xi handed him her badge.

The man accepted it, and his expression visibly softened.

Yun Xi sighed with relief. Finally, she wasn’t starting the game as a vagrant this time.

The man arranged for Yun Xi to stay in one of the small wooden huts.

“It’s a bit late now. You can stay in this hut for the time being. Rest for the night—we’ll talk in the morning.”

Yun Xi understood. No one knew better than her how dangerous nights on Divine Fall Continent could be.

The man likely needed to keep watch, so she didn’t say more.

As he closed the door behind him, Yun Xi locked it and turned to inspect her shelter for the night.

A wooden bed, a small cabinet, and a basic table with chairs.

The bed had no bedding—just a layer of dry straw.

But Yun Xi didn’t complain. In this world where resources were incredibly scarce, even having a place to stay at the start was already a huge privilege.

From what she remembered, this housing was only free for the first three days.

She plopped down on the edge of the bed and mentally called out: “System.”

[Divine Fall System Activated]
[Personal Interface] [Shop Interface] [Chat Interface] [Quest Interface]

Yun Xi opened the Personal Interface, which was divided into three main panels:

[Basic Panel]

  • Name: Yun Xi
  • System ID: ******826927
  • Race: Human
  • Age: 20
  • Level: 0
  • HP: 60/60 (Max determined by Constitution)
  • Mana: 0/290 (Max determined by Spirit)

[Profession Panel]

  • Main Profession: None
  • Sub Profession: None
  • Free Skill Points: 0

[Attribute Panel]

  • Spirit: 29
  • Constitution: 6
  • Luck: 92 (Max 100) [Not assignable]
  • Charm: 96 (Max 100) [Not assignable]
  • Free Attribute Points: 0

Yun Xi was slightly surprised. Her Spirit stat was already 29?

She remembered her Spirit being only 9 in her previous life. Now it was 29—which must be due to her soul carrying over from before. Since the soul remained unchanged after reincarnation, her Spirit stat naturally returned as well.

But she had 59 Spirit before her death. That meant… she had lost almost half?

So, the Rebirth Divine Stone did have side effects. Each reincarnation came at the cost of her soul’s strength.

With that realization, Yun Xi quietly abandoned all those risky plans for rapid power leveling. It was better not to use the rebirth stone lightly.

Setting those thoughts aside, she closed the attributes panel and moved on to the next interface.

The Shop Interface was divided into:

  • [System Shop]
  • [Local Shop]
  • [Top-Up Services]

The System Shop generally sold only basic survival supplies—rare items were extremely unlikely to appear.

Just a glance showed her options like coarse oatcakes, black bread, and edible gnarled fruits…

Yun Xi felt a headache coming on. She had eaten most of these during her previous life—and “eaten” was a stretch. They were barely chewable.

The Local Shop, as the name implied, was operated by local merchants, selling a range of survival goods.

But this “village” was so tiny, there wasn’t even a local shop open. Not a single item was listed.

Finally, she tapped on Top-Up Services.

Sure enough, just like before—during the beta phase, every player could only top-up 648 yuan per day.

1 yuan = 1 copper coin. So she could only get 648 copper coins a day.

Thinking of how Gu Shi’an had gone on a selling spree with his assets, Yun Xi couldn’t help wondering: Was that guy’s cheat unlimited top-ups?

It was known that Gu Shi’an had around 10 billion yuan in assets. If he converted it all…

10 billion copper coins = 100 million silver coins = 1 million gold coins.

Gold coins were equivalent to white crystal stones, which meant…
1 million white = 10,000 green = 100 blue = 1 purple crystal

So basically, Gu Shi’an’s ten billion could only get him 1% of a red crystal?

At the same time, Yun Xi’s mind flashed to her mountain of red crystals, and she felt a bit smug.

So this is the joy of being a rich person, huh?
Hahaha.

Of course, while Gu Shi’an’s ten billion copper coins might be nothing to her, let’s not forget—other players could only top-up 648 a day, and with a ten-day beta limit, the total cap was just 6,480.

In Divine Fall Continent, 10 billion copper coins was still an enormous fortune.

As a startup fund, it was more than enough for Gu Shi’an to go wild.

With that thought, Yun Xi didn’t waste time. She completed today’s top-up—648 yuan was deducted from her bank account, and 648 copper coins appeared in front of her.

[Ding! You currently have more than 100 copper coins. Would you like to deposit them into your system account?]
Note: A 1% fee applies when depositing. No fee when withdrawing.

[Deposit]

Stingy game system—even without a starter storage bag, it charges you to deposit coins.

But there was an upside: stored coins couldn’t be lost or stolen.

Most importantly, only coins in your system account could be used to buy from the System Shop.

Out of the 658 copper coins she had (648 from the top-up and 10 from the starter pack), the system deducted 6.58 coins for the fee, leaving her with 651.42 copper coins stored in her account—clearly displayed at the top of the shop interface.

After handling all that, Yun Xi skimmed the System Shop again, just to be sure no rare goods had refreshed, before opening the next interface.
