The room makeover… it was probably Fiora who took the lead.
It’s tastefully done, stylish yet refined, and there’s nothing to complain about when it comes to functionality either.
Even so, it’s not overly decorated or cluttered—it’s a simple, clean room.
“Mm-hmm…”
I can’t say anything but that it’s impressive…
“Oh? Is there something you’re not satisfied with? I like it.”
Seriana, who had gone to check the back, seemed concerned about my thoughtful hum.
When I looked up at her words, I saw the others were also paying attention.
And… their expressions looked a little uneasy.
Did I make them worry unnecessarily?
“Ah, no, no. It’s not that I’m dissatisfied, okay…? It seems really convenient too. It’s just…”
“Just?”
Right. It’s not dissatisfaction.
I can change clothes in this room, and when I’m away, I can have the servants retrieve my equipment.
This makeover isn’t just a perfect score—it’s more like a 120 out of 100.
It’s just that…
“Isn’t it… maybe a bit too stylish?”
It feels like I’m out of place in this room.
Honestly, I might have to put a giant monster plush or something in here just to neutralize this whole stylish atmosphere…
“Then why not put your cushion on that chair? It hasn’t arrived yet, but you did order it, didn’t you?”
“Huh?”
The chair by the table looks like something from a bar or café—one of those sleek, shallow-backed designer seats.
…Can I really just throw a cushion on that?
Not sure what to do, I glanced over at Fiora, who met my gaze with a wry smile.
“It’s your room, after all. You should make it comfortable for yourself.”
Despite going to all the effort of collecting things, Fiora seems quite open to customizing the room to my preferences.
If that’s the case, then I’ll take her up on it and tweak it a little.
“I see… Alright, I’ll do that. It should be arriving soon anyway. Now, which one should I put over here…?”
I made several, but maybe a sleek-looking wolf would be best?
That way, it wouldn’t disrupt the room’s overall vibe too much…
However, before I could say that aloud, Seriana spoke first.
“There’s already a cat in the other room, so if you’re going to place one, that’s probably best. But more importantly, Fiora, are rooms like this popular in town lately?”
Well… I’m fine with the cat cushion, but it seems Seriana is more interested in the interior design itself.
Now that I think about it, she was curiously checking out various spots ever since we entered.
She’s not the kind of person who usually wanders around like that.
So maybe, from her perspective, this was quite novel.
◇
“Come to think of it, everything we bought today was made in this town, right?”
“Yes. Since we had the chance, I tried to match the furniture accordingly.”
Now that we had finished showing off the new layout of my room, we moved to Seriana’s room to have tea and chat.
There’s enough space for everyone to sit in my room, but the kitchen is missing.
We could use the 【Hideout】, but it’s not worth going that far.
While Elena and Teresa prepared the tea, Seriana and Fiora were talking about my room.
That was the original reason for moving here, but perhaps because they were waiting for the other two to finish, they avoided diving into the room’s concept just yet.
Still, they seemed to have no shortage of things to talk about.
“Thank you for waiting.”
As I absentmindedly watched Seriana and Fiora chat, Elena and Teresa arrived with the pleasant scent of tea in the air.
“Oh, thank you. Fiora was just explaining the criteria she used to choose the furniture.”
Seriana thanked the two as they placed the cups, then motioned for them to sit.
Once she took a sip of tea and caught her breath, she finally got to the main topic—my room’s design concept.
I mean, I suppose it’s rare in this world… but honestly, I wouldn’t think it’s something Seriana would be that interested in…
“Fiora, could you tell me more about it now?”
“Sure. Although, I’m not exactly an expert on it…”
And so, Fiora began her explanation.
Apparently, there’s been a growing trend among the relatively well-off commoners in the capital: decorating themselves and their homes according to their own tastes.
Originally, this was a remote, rural area, but after people began interacting with those from other regions and countries, they absorbed all kinds of new information. Combined with the extra cash flow from the new territory boom, they began trying new things on their own.
Fiora picked up on this from talking with her subordinates and from her own outings into town, but because it originated among commoners, it hasn’t caught on among the nobility yet.
Unlike in my previous life, information doesn’t spread as quickly here, and in this world, trends typically flow top-down.
To go further, trends usually begin in the western continent, take about a season to reach the east, and then several years to be accepted among the upper classes. Only after that do they reach the commoners.
So for something unknown to her to suddenly appear, it must have really caught Seriana off guard.
She seemed genuinely impressed, eyes wide as she listened to Fiora.
From my point of view, it’s still a little too fancy and could use a bit of loosening up… but enriching the culture is a good thing for the territory, right?
