It was now the morning of the tenth day since the rainy season began.
If this year followed the usual pattern, the rainy season should be over in just a few more days.
So far, no accidents or incidents had occurred in the city, and aside from that thing on the first day, it had been peaceful.
There were no signs of anything happening either, so it seemed likely this year’s rainy season would pass without issue.
That said, things would get busy after the rainy season ended, so the soldiers needed to rest and recover their energy while they could…
And then… and then!
“Ufufu…”
I couldn’t help but let a chuckle escape as I watched Fiora fiddling with her equipment with a kachakacha sound.
By the tenth day, this scene had become quite familiar—no longer a novelty.
But today was different!
“How is it? How is it?”
“Calm down.”
As I leaned forward from the bed to press Fiora for answers, Seriana, who was sitting beside me, gave my forehead a light flick.
“Guh…”
No good, no good.
As Seriana said, I was getting a little too impatient.
I should probably take a few deep breaths… suu—haa—suu—haa…
I could tell Elena and Teresa were quietly laughing as they watched me doing deep breathing exercises.
Today, they had the day off as well and had come to this room, but for now, I decided to ignore their reactions.
As I took two, then three deep breaths, Fiora continued adjusting the equipment.
Her expression was… the same as always, so I couldn’t tell how the results were going.
Personally, I felt the sluggishness in my body had completely faded, so I thought I was cured, but…
As I waited for her words, Fiora eventually stopped her movements and turned to face me.
“It’s good news. The symptoms of mana intoxication are gone.”
“Ooohhh!”
That’s great, that’s great!
It was my first time coming down with mana intoxication, and even though they told me it could be cured, I had been a little anxious.
So then…
If the mana intoxication was cured, that means—!
“Show me your arm. I’ll begin the treatment.”
“Okay. Please.”
I responded and held out my right arm to Fiora.
The advanced medical care in this world relies on the use of magical power.
But when you’re suffering from mana intoxication, that kind of treatment doesn’t work well.
In my case, they at least managed to set the bone with minimum necessary treatment, but most of the muscle and surrounding tissue hadn’t been properly healed.
That’s why I had to rest for so long.
When I rolled up my sleeve, the arm that was revealed no longer showed signs of internal bleeding, and had returned to its original pale, slender state.
It probably would’ve healed on its own eventually, but… there were still times when it hurt if I moved it too much or put strength into it.
Well… I hadn’t had many chances to do anything that required strength, but if it could be healed, then it should be healed.
So, assuming nothing came up during the exam, we decided to go ahead and treat it now.
Phew… it’s only been about ten days, but it felt like forever.
Fiora placed her hand on my arm and activated a healing spell to begin the treatment.
◇
The treatment for my right arm took about thirty minutes.
From what I heard during the process, if you used a lot of potions in combination with magic, the treatment could be completed much faster… but apparently, that method also consumed a lot of stamina.
For that reason, it required additional drugs and other preparations, which made things more complicated.
…Yeah.
That kind of treatment doesn’t suit someone like me who doesn’t have much stamina to begin with.
That’s why I opted for the slower but less physically demanding approach.
The result is the same—I’m healed either way.
Now we’d moved from the bedroom to the adjacent office, where tea was being prepared.
“Ooohhh…”
Even when I swung my right arm around vigorously, there was no more pain.
Perfect!
Now I could probably go hunting in the dungeon again without issue.
Come to think of it, I hadn’t been able to go to the dungeon at all for a while… Maybe it’s time I go all out again.
Even if there are only a few days left of the rainy season, it’s still not over, so there should be plenty of adventurers still taking breaks from hunting.
Just imagining a large-scale dungeon sweep makes me smile.
Sure, it was profitable—but more than that, the sense of exhilaration was unbeatable…
“…Hehehe.”
But then…
“Sera, the dungeon is off-limits for a while longer.”
Seriana said this while holding a teacup in her hand…
“What!?”
“She’s right. Your body may be healed, but you might still feel some discomfort for a while, so you should avoid hunting in the dungeon for now,”
Fiora added.
“…Guhhh.”
With both Seriana and Fiora in agreement, I was officially barred from hunting in the dungeon.
Basically, they wanted me to go through a rehabilitation period.
Well… there weren’t many people in the dungeon right now, and if something happened, it could be a serious problem.
That’s exactly why I wanted to go, but…
“…I’ll be fine, really.”
“No. Avoid the dungeon for the time being.”
Seriana repeated what she had said just moments before.
“Grrr…”
I groaned in frustration, but deep down I knew they were right, which might be why my complaint lacked any real force.
That style of hunting I used in the dungeon was a bit too intense anyway—not the sort of thing you do for rehab.
Once the rainy season ends, there would probably be some investigations outside the city.
Maybe I could tag along for one of those?
It probably wouldn’t involve any hunting, but it’d be a good opportunity to ease back into using Blessings and Blessed Items.
