The surrounding suddenly lit up. Li Linlin was surprised to find small lights hanging on the trees around Chen Yiran, gently emitting orange light.
The whole thing was quite romantic.
It was totally unlike Chen Yiran’s usual style.
Li Linlin didn’t notice when the waiter had left. She was standing there alone and saw Chen Yiran’s outstretched hand. “What are you still standing there for?”
Li Linlin’s eyebrows slightly moved. She walked in the direction of Chen Yiran but she didn’t take his hand. Chen Yiran calmly retracted his hand and placed it in front of his mouth, coughing softly. “This is something I arranged this afternoon. Do you like it?”
Li Linlin looked at the surrounding scenery and nodded slightly. “Not bad, but did you set this up yourself?”
“I did it with the staff.”
Li Linlin asked, “You didn’t just provide guidance, did you?”
“……” Chen Yiran was silent for a moment, then added, “I also help with the work.”
Li Linlin examined him, as if weighing the truth of his words. “What’s up with you all of a sudden?”
Chen Yiran said, “Didn’t I tell you that I’m courting you?”
Li Linlin looked at the lights above her head. “Is this all?”
As soon as she said so, music suddenly started playing around her. Chen Yiran held out his hand to her again, inviting her for a dance. “May I have this dance?”
Li Linlin stood still and didn’t move. “Aren’t you afraid of being seen?”
The program group was still filming on the mountain this afternoon. Although the wrap up party was over, there might still be people staying on the mountain. It would be too embarrassing if someone else saw this.
Chen Yiran said, “Don’t worry, no one will come here.”
“You’re that confident?”
“There’s a gate in front. You can’t enter this garden without swiping a card.”
Li Linlin remembered that when the waiter brought her over just now, he indeed seemed to have swiped his card once.
“Is that gate the only way in?”
“Mm, unless they climb over from the side of the mountain.”
“……” No one should be able to do so. After thinking for a while, Li Linlin finally walked up and placed her hand on Chen Yiran’s palm.
The corners of Chen Yiran’s mouth rose up slightly. He held her hand in his and gently put his other hand on her waist. “Do you still remember the dance steps I taught you before?”
Li Linlin slightly averted her gaze and responded with a light, “Um”.
When she was in primary school, there was a performance organized by their grade and Li Linlin was chosen to dance. Li Linlin wasn’t actually a multitalented child. Although her father was a legend in the music industry, she had no talent for singing and had never learned how to dance. Her extracurricular classes were language and mathematics.
She had studied piano for several years and had received a certificate, but the students who would play the piano had already been decided, so Li Linlin could only be assigned to the dance group.
Everyone unanimously voted to choose Li Linlin to dance, not because she danced particularly well―― In fact, her classmates had never seen her dance at all. They chose her for only one reason―― She’s good looking.
Li Linlin was put on the spot. But she was embarrassed to say that she didn’t know how to dance. She thought that with her intelligence, she could learn the routine in just a few days.
That was probably the first time in her life that Li Linlin had suffered a setback. She didn’t expect that dancing was even harder than solving Mathematical Olympiad problems.
Li Shen and Yu Wan took turns in teaching her. Her father wished to pass on what he had learned throughout his life, but she couldn’t grasp it. Li Linlin was also deeply affected and closed herself off for several days. Chen Xi found that she was depressed and became depressed as well. Later, when Chen Yiran asked Chen Xi, he found out that Li Linlin had encountered a stumbling block in dancing.
In Chen Yiran’s mind, Li Linlin had always been a very outstanding person. She had better academic performance than Chen Xi, was smart and could learn everything quickly. To be honest, he was a little surprised when he heard Chen Xi say that she couldn’t dance.
But since the little sisters have encountered a problem, he, the big brother, had to do his best to help. At that time, every day after school, Chen Yiran, Li Linlin and Chen Xi would go to the small garden in the campus for a mini dance training class.
Li Linlin knew that study time in high school was very tight, and she felt particularly guilty when she thought of Chen Yiran wasting it every day to teach her how to dance. But being able to spend more time with Chen Yiran every day even if it was just for half an hour made her very happy.
Li Linlin repeatedly jumped between these two moods while meeting Chen Yiran in the small garden daily.
Chen Yiran would dance the female steps first every time, then switch to the male steps, pretending to be holding a dance partner. Li Linlin had a good mind and memorized the dance steps, but she was rather stiff when dancing.
Chen Yiran felt that this wouldn’t work. It would be better for two people to dance together to get a better feeling of the steps. However, Li Linlin was too short, and his height as a high school student didn’t match her at all. He couldn’t go to the primary school section to catch a little boy, so he simply picked Li Linlin up.
Even though Li Linlin’s feet couldn’t touch the ground, he still danced according to the steps, just to help Li Linlin find the feeling of dancing.
“I didn’t expect that trick to work. You danced a lot more vividly afterwards.” Chen Yiran held Li Linlin’s hand and danced to the music in the garden. For a moment, this scene overlapped with that of his childhood, except that the person he was holding had already grown up.
Li Linlin said nothing, but her ears turned slightly red. Heaven knows that when Chen Yiran picked her up, the sound of her heartbeat drowned out the music. She couldn’t hear anything at all and could only see Chen Yiran in front of her.
That instant, Li Linlin wanted to grow up quickly, because when she grew up, she would be able to really dance with Chen Yiran, instead of just being held by him like she was at that moment.
“Why is your face all red?” With a light smile, Chen Yiran’s voice sounded, drawing a fierce glare from Li Linlin.
“You’re seeing wrong.”
“Oh.” Chen Yiran responded, but the laughter in his voice was even thicker. “This can be considered as our first dance in the real sense, right? Not bad, you’ve improved over the years.”
Li Linlin glanced at him. “President Chen is so skilled. I don’t know how many people you have danced with over the years.”
Chen Yiran laughed and looked at Li Linlin with slightly downcast eyes. “There aren’t many people who can dance with me.”
“……” Was this his latest humblebrag? As expected of its founder.
“Then shouldn’t I feel honored?” Li Linlin looked at him with a fake smile.
Chen Yiran immediately said, “No, it’s my honor to dance with you.”
Li Linlin snorted and said nothing. After the music stopped, the two of them also stopped dancing, except Chen Yiran hadn’t let go of Li Linlin’s hand.
Li Linlin glanced at him, signalling him to let go. Chen Yiran’s hand, which was resting on her waist, exerted a slight force and instead brought her into his arms.
Li Linlin heard heartbeat again, unsure if it was her own or Chen Yiran’s.
“Linlin.” Chen Yiran’s voice fell from the top of her head, so gentle that it didn’t seem like he was speaking. Li Linlin raised her head, and Chen Yiran, as if waiting for her to look up, lowered his head and kissed her lips.
Li Linlin was stunned, then suddenly remembered what Chen Yiran told her last time in the car―― You should close your eyes when kissing.
She subconsciously closed her eyes. Chen Yiran’s kiss was much gentler than last time, not trying to swallow her in one gulp, but slowly savouring her taste, softly and carefully.
Chen Yiran only did it briefly and let her go without making any excessive moves. Li Linlin opened her eyes, still somewhat immersed in the kiss they just shared. Chen Yiran lowered his eyes and looked at her, a hint of a loving smile hidden in his deep black eyes. “How is it this time? You can regard this as our first kiss.”
Half of Li Linlin’s girlish feelings just now disappeared, feeling both embarrassed and annoyed in her heart. Last time, she did blame him for not making their first kiss more romantic, but she was just complaining inwardly! Was Chen Yiran a mind reader?
She let go of Chen Yiran and turned around to leave. Chen Yiran followed behind and called out to her, “Where are you going?”
Li Linlin said without looking back, “Going down the mountain.”
“I’ll drive you back.”
“No need.”
Chen Yiran caught up to her in three steps and grabbed her wrist. “I specifically came to pick you up.”
Li Linlin tried to pull her hand back but found that she couldn’t, so she gave him a glare and just let it be. When they left, they took another route. Li Linlin had been recording the show on the mountain and had little time to wander around. After walking like this with Chen Yiran, she discovered that there were quite a few claw machines on the roadside.
“What’s with all the claw machines? Did you have someone put them here?” Li Linlin asked Chen Yiran.
Chen Yiran nodded and told her, “If a male visitor makes his girlfriend angry, he can come get a plush toy to coax her. Isn’t it very handy?”
“……” Li Linlin fell silent for a moment, then suggested to him, “How about you arrange for a human sand bag? If a male visitor angers a female visitor, let the female visitor used him as a punching bag. It might relieve their anger more.”
Chen Yiran: “……”
Was this hinting at him?
The two walked to the parking lot and Li Linlin saw the waiter who brought her the flowers again. Still holding the bouquet in his hand, he walked towards their direction. “President Chen, Miss Li. This bouquet was left by Miss Li’s assistants. They had already gone down first and specially left this for Miss Li.”
Li Linlin: “……”
Just as she said, the assistants who accepted Chen Yiran’s money were still Chen Yiran’s person in the final analysis.
“Give it to me.” Li Linlin took the bouquet of flowers. The two assistants must have gone directly back to their residence so they left it there.
It was so big that Li Linlin couldn’t get into the car with the flowers in her arms, so she placed the flowers alone in the back seat and fastened her seat belt. Chen Yiran drove her back to her family’s villa without anything in particular happening on the way.
When Li Linlin got home, she went into the house with flowers in her arms. Yu Wan and Li Shen were still awake. When they saw her coming back with such a big bouquet of flowers, they gathered around her.
“Linlin, who gave it to you? Chen Yiran?” Just now they saw Chen Yiran’s car arrived.
Li Linlin denied, “No, isn’t the variety show wrapping up today? The program group gave this to me.”
“Then your program group is quite generous. This bouquet of flowers isn’t cheap.” Yu Wan was in the wedding business and she was quite knowledgeable about flowers. She took the bouquet from Li Linlin’s hand while muttering that she had to find several vases to put them in.
Li Shen didn’t bother with the flowers, but pulled Li Linlin on the side and asked, “Linlin, I was just discussing with your mother what kind of pet to raise. Do you have any opinions?”
Li Linlin thought for a while and then told him, “How about a goldfish? I think those uncles all raise goldfish in their homes.”
Li Shen: “……” 🙂
