Godfather of Culinary | Chapter 19 – Mung Bean Cake

“Hand me the tissues from my bag.”

Xu Fei turned around and pointed to the bag hanging around Qin Feng’s neck.

Qin Feng reached into the bag, took out the tissues, and handed them to her.

At this moment, Yang Tai caught sight of Xu Fei and immediately leaned over excitedly. “You’re that celebrity, Xu Fei, right? Yes, it’s you! I’m your fan!”

“Thank you,” Xu Fei responded with a faint smile and a slight nod. She hadn’t expected to run into a fan here.

“I heard you’re rivals with that other celebrity. Is that true? And there were rumors about you being close with some director. Is that real?”

After confirming her identity, Yang Tai continued to pry, firing off one question after another. Xu Fei could only respond with polite smiles.

Seeing this, Qin Feng reached out and patted Yang Tai on the shoulder. “Hey, buddy, my wife needs some rest.”

“She’s your wife?”

Yang Tai’s face showed a hint of disdain. Looking at Qin Feng’s simple, modest outfit, he couldn’t believe someone like him could be married to such a beautiful woman.

“She’s indeed my wife—legally married,” Qin Feng said with a proud smile, silently thinking, ‘You think you can look down on me? Not a chance.’

Hearing this, Yang Tai internally muttered ‘What a kept man!’ but then asked aloud, “So, what do you do for a living? You must be someone impressive to have married her.”

Qin Feng smiled lightly and replied, “Oh, I’m just stay home and take care of the kids. Nothing much.”

Yang Tai smirked dismissively. “So you’re a stay-at-home husband, huh?”

Qin Feng wasn’t bothered. Instead, he smiled knowingly. “Being a stay-at-home husband is great—spending all day taking care of my wife, isn’t that wonderful?”

Yang Tai, of course, understood the implication behind Qin Feng’s words. Just the thought of someone as stunning as Xu Fei being with a man like Qin Feng every night drove him mad. The phrase “good cabbages getting eaten by pigs” popped into his mind, making him seethe.

Qin Feng, noticing Yang Tai’s silence, closed his eyes and resumed listening to music. Having read countless novels in his past life, he was all too familiar with these “face-slapping” scenarios. Letting Yang Tai show off? Not on his watch.

Two hours later, the school buses stopped by a picturesque grassland near a creek. The scenery was stunningly beautiful.

“Class One kids, come here! Let’s go explore the grassland!”

Teacher Xu Ru called out to Nannan and her classmates, leading them off to wander around.

Meanwhile, the parents gathered to chat—this was a prime opportunity to expand their social networks, after all.

Qin Feng, however, stayed on the bus catching up on sleep. He’d woken up early that morning and was still a bit tired.

Xu Fei mingled with the other parents, mostly chatting about their kids.

Of course, Yang Tai found an opportunity to strike up a conversation with her. He handed her a business card and introduced himself, “Ms. Xu, I’m Yang Tai, General Manager of Ding Sheng Construction. A pleasure to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Yang,” Xu Fei replied with a professional smile.

“Ms. Xu, I find you very intriguing. Would you be interested in getting to know me better? Price is negotiable…”

Yang Tai glanced around to ensure no one was paying attention, then leaned in to whisper. In his mind, there wasn’t a celebrity money couldn’t buy. He’d already spent a fortune for a night with another star before.

Hearing his words, Xu Fei’s expression darkened instantly. Without a word, she turned and walked away.

From afar, Qin Feng noticed her unhappy expression. He immediately guessed that Yang Tai must’ve said something inappropriate and decided to teach him a lesson.

Moments later, he saw Yang Tai heading toward the restroom and quickly followed.

Inside, Qin Feng watched Yang Tai enter a stall, close the door, and start playing music on his phone. He was clearly browsing leisurely.

BANG!

Qin Feng kicked the stall door, producing a loud noise. From inside came the sound of a phone falling into the toilet, followed by a panicked shout.

Before Yang Tai could react, Qin Feng quickly walked outside, pretending to have just arrived at the restroom.

“Damn it! Which bastard kicked the door? My phone fell in the toilet!” Yang Tai came out, cursing furiously. Spotting Qin Feng, he asked, “Did you see anyone run out just now?”

Qin Feng glanced back, feigning seriousness. “Yeah, I saw a kid running out. Why?”

“Never mind. Just my bad luck. If I catch that little brat…”

Fuming, Yang Tai stormed off.

Watching him leave, Qin Feng chuckled to himself. Mess with my wife, will you? This is just a minor warning.

He then rejoined Xu Fei, chatting with her while watching Nannan play happily in the distance. Looking at his beautiful wife and adorable daughter, Qin Feng felt truly content. This, he thought, was the life of a real winner.

“Daddy, I‘m hungry!”

By noon, Nannan ran over to Qin Feng, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She knew her dad’s cooking was always amazing.

“Alright, alright, I’ll get it. Hang on a second,” Qin Feng said, patting her head before heading to fetch the Mung Bean Cakes and Cola Chicken Wings. Meanwhile, Xu Fei spread a mat on the grass.

Other parents also began taking out the food they’d prepared, and the air quickly filled with a medley of delicious aromas.

Suddenly, a crowd of kids gathered around a table nearby. Yang Tai had taken out several exquisite dishes from a thermal container, instantly drawing their attention.

Holding his chubby son, Yang Tai declared loudly, “Son, these dishes are specially ordered from Yang Ming Restaurant, a five-star establishment. Dig in!”

The plump boy started eating, while the other kids could only look on enviously.

Yang Tai’s face lit up with pride as he relished the attention.

Xu Fei noticed Qin Feng carrying over a box and a container. “What on earth did you bring? It’s way too much for the three of us. Do you think we’re bottomless pits?”

“You’ll see,” Qin Feng replied with a sly grin.

He placed several large boxes on the mat and began opening them. Inside were beautifully crafted Mung Bean Cakes that immediately caught everyone’s attention.

As soon as the boxes were opened, kids and adults alike gathered around.

“Mommy, that looks so good! I want some too!”

“What is that? Can we eat it?”

“Of course, it’s food! I can already smell it.”

“It looks so delicious!”

Nannan wasted no time grabbing a green bean cake. She took a big bite, her face lighting up with joy as her eyes curved into crescents. This sight only made the other kids drool even more.

Seeing the growing crowd, Qin Feng quickly said, “Alright, kids, don’t rush! There’s plenty for everyone. Line up, and I’ll hand them out one by one.”

He then began distributing the cakes, and the kids eagerly dug in, munching away happily.
