“Yummy, yummy!”
Qin Feng watched the kids munching happily, his face lighting up with a smile. This was the magic of good food—bringing joy and happiness to people.
Just then, a man with a crew cut, dressed in casual clothes, walked over holding a half-eaten Mung Bean Cakes. He said to Qin Feng, “This is made with mung beans, right? There’s powdered sugar, sesame oil, flour, and red bean paste in it, isn’t there? It’s really good—sweet and refreshing, quite a treat!”
Qin Feng nodded in agreement and replied, “Yes, it’s made from mung beans. If you can tell all that just by tasting, you must be an expert.”
“I’m Sun Peng. I run a pastry shop.”
Sun Peng grinned as he extended his hand to Qin Feng.
After shaking hands, Qin Feng divided the remaining pastries among the crowd.
“Daddy, I want cola chicken wings!”
At that moment, Nan Nan dashed over, grabbing his hand and shaking it vigorously.
“Alright, alright, wait a second. Daddy will get them for you.”
Since Nan Nan kept chanting about the cola chicken wings, Qin Feng walked over to a giant insulated container. As soon as he opened it, an irresistible aroma wafted out, and rows of golden, juicy chicken wings came into view.
“Wow, chicken wings! Uncle, I want some!”
The nearby kids, seeing the chicken wings in the container, came running over, surrounding Qin Feng like a tidal wave. They craned their necks, their eyes glued to the wings.
Meanwhile, Nan Nan was already standing beside the container, stuffing one chicken wing into her mouth while holding another in her hand, thoroughly enjoying herself.
“Alright, everyone, one pair each—don’t rush!”
Qin Feng grabbed some bags and started handing out chicken wings to the kids.
The children, eager to taste them, dug in immediately after receiving their share.
“Waaaah!”
Suddenly, the sound of a child crying echoed from a distance. A nearby adult, holding a chicken wing in his mouth, shouted at the wailing child, “You little rascal, what’s the big deal if your dad takes one bite? Stop crying. Here, take it back.”
As he spoke, the adult couldn’t help but take another big bite, leaving only half of the chicken wing. Seeing the kids enjoying the wings so much, he couldn’t resist trying one himself.
But the child, staring at the half-eaten wing, still looked utterly displeased.
“Dad, I want chicken wings too! I want them!”
Not far away, a chubby boy was tugging on Yang Tai’s arm, whining loudly. Looking at the mob around the chicken wings, the boy was nearly in tears, showing zero interest in the fancy dishes packed from a five-star hotel.
“Alright, alright, Daddy will go get them for you.”
Yang Tai sighed and began squeezing his way through the crowd.
Fifteen minutes later, the insulated container’s 100 pairs of chicken wings were down to a third. But every kid had gotten their share, and the lawn was now filled with people gnawing on chicken wings—a spectacular scene.
“Give me a pair of wings!”
After waiting in line for over ten minutes, Yang Tai, drenched in sweat, finally got his turn.
Initially, Qin Feng didn’t want to give him any, but seeing the hopeful look on the child beside him, he relented and handed over a pair.
After taking the wings, Yang Tai glanced into the container and saw there were still plenty left. “Give me a few more pairs! One pair isn’t enough. There’s still so much left!”
“These are for me to eat,” Qin Feng said, unimpressed. He grabbed a wing from the container and began munching on it.
“Can you really eat that many? Name a price, and I’ll buy them.”
Yang Tai, sensing Qin Feng’s deliberate attitude, put on a smug expression as he made his offer.
Hearing this, Qin Feng smirked and said, “I’m not running a chicken wing business. Do you think you can just buy whatever I cook? My food isn’t something money can always buy—it depends on my mood.”
Yang Tai snorted disdainfully. “It’s just chicken wings. I can eat them anywhere.”
“Then go eat somewhere else!”
Qin Feng, finishing one wing, grabbed another and started eating, his expression practically shouting, “I can eat as many as I want.”
With that, Yang Tai huffed and stormed off.
“Mommy, you have one.”
Nan Nan held a chicken wing out to Xu Fei.
“My sweet girl, Mommy already ate some. You enjoy it!”
Xu Fei had eaten a few wings earlier and found them incredibly delicious. But to maintain her figure, she refrained from eating more.
Surrounded by many kids, Nan Nan gleefully handed out the remaining wings, looking every bit like a popular queen among her peers.
Sun Peng walked over to Qin Feng, took out a cigarette, and offered it to him. “Mr. Qin, do you smoke?”
“Sorry, I don’t smoke,” Qin Feng replied with a smile. As a chef, maintaining his sense of taste was crucial, so he avoided stimulants like cigarettes altogether.
Sun Peng tucked the cigarette back and sat down. “Mr. Qin, you must be great at making pastries. I own a pastry shop, but business has been pretty mediocre for the past six months. I was hoping you might have some advice.”
Qin Feng thought for a moment before replying, “There are two main aspects to focus on: introducing new products and marketing.”
“We update our menu weekly and spend a lot on advertising, but it doesn’t seem to help.”
Sun Peng sighed deeply, looking genuinely distressed. He had poured all his savings into this shop.
“I’m not sure about the specifics, but I can stop by sometime to check it out.”
Qin Feng didn’t mind lending a hand—it wasn’t a big deal to him.
Hearing this, Sun Peng’s face lit up with joy. He quickly handed over a business card. “Mr. Qin, this is my card. Please keep it, and just contact me when you’re free.”
Qin Feng pocketed the card and then carried Nan Nan off to play.
“Daddy, I want to ride a horse!”
Nan Nan’s eyes sparkled as she spotted some horses grazing in the distance.
“Let’s go check it out.”
Seeing a ticket booth nearby, Qin Feng figured the horses must be available for riding. He bought two tickets and said to Xu Fei, “Take our daughter for a ride.”
Xu Fei nodded and carried Nan Nan onto a horse. They began to trot slowly into the distance.
“Mommy, why haven’t you been staying at home these days? I miss you so much!”
Nan Nan looked around as she spoke, her voice tinged with longing.
“Mommy’s been busy with work, so I couldn’t come home,” Xu Fei explained, using an excuse to brush off the question. Seeing her daughter’s pitiful expression made her heart ache.
“Then can you stay with me tonight? I miss you so much,” Nan Nan pleaded, her big, watery eyes staring up at Xu Fei.
“Alright, alright, Mommy will stay with you tonight.”
Xu Fei nodded and hugged her tightly.
