Godfather of Culinary | Chapter 26 – Egg Waffle

After picking up the mold from the supply shop, Qin Feng headed straight to Sun Peng’s pastry shop.

When he walked in, the shop was already buzzing with people enjoying coffee and pastries. Some even lounged on the sofas, snoozing peacefully. The place was unusually quiet, perfect for a bit of respite.

“Brother Qin, you’re here! What do you think? I put a lot of effort into redesigning the layout like this. Now, tired folks can take a short break here. And guess what? Business has improved significantly!” Sun Peng beamed with pride, clearly delighted by the success of his simple changes.

“That’s great! Even though your shop focuses on pastries, with such a large space, it makes sense to expand horizontally.”

Qin Feng smiled as he walked to the counter with the mold in hand.

Seeing the honeycomb-shaped mold, Sun Peng’s curiosity was piqued. He followed Qin Feng and asked, “Brother Qin, what’s this thing for?”

“This is for making a new kind of pastry. Get me some eggs, sugar, flour, and milk.”

These were the basic ingredients needed to make egg waffles.

Sun Peng quickly fetched the ingredients and watched with keen interest.

Qin Feng cracked the eggs into a bowl, added the flour, milk, and sugar, and mixed them thoroughly. Then he poured the batter into the mold and began baking.

After finishing the setup, he turned to Sun Peng and said, “You saw how I made it, right? It’s actually quite simple and doesn’t take long to bake—just a few minutes.”

Soon, a delicious aroma wafted through the shop, filling the air.

“Wow, what’s that smell? It’s amazing!”

“Smells like milk… and eggs, I think.”

“Must be some new product from the shop. Let’s go check it out!”

The tempting scent caught everyone’s attention, including Sun Peng, who was now eager to try it. He looked like he couldn’t wait another second.

Qin Feng checked the time and decided it was ready. He opened the mold, carefully took out the egg waffles, and placed them on a plate.

“They look so delicate! Let me have a taste. Hmm… It’s delicious! So crispy!”

Sun Peng couldn’t stop after the first bite. He kept grabbing piece after piece, devouring them nonstop.

“Boss, what’s this? It smells so good! Can I get one too?”

A group of customers had already approached, asking eagerly.

“No problem! I’ll make some for you myself,” Sun Peng said happily, in an excellent mood.

Before long, everyone in the shop had a portion of egg waffles in hand, savoring the milky, eggy aroma that filled the room.

As Sun Peng watched the line grow longer, his face lit up with joy. It had been a long time since his business was this booming.

Seeing how busy Sun Peng was, Qin Feng knew his mission was accomplished. He got up and left, confident that with the popularity of the egg waffles, the shop’s business would thrive for a long time.

Back at his own shop, Qin Feng started preparing for the 6 PM opening, getting busy in the kitchen.

“Shifu, look at my knife skills lately. Do you think I’ve improved?”

Qiao Lu walked up to Qin Feng with a plate of freshly sliced potato strips, smiling expectantly.

“Not bad. They’re still not fine enough, but at least they’re even. Keep it up.”

Qin Feng glanced at the plate, acknowledging her effort and progress.

“Thank you, Shifu! I’ll work even harder.”

Encouraged by the praise, Qiao Lu was all smiles as she went back to practicing.

Meanwhile, Yang Qingqing arrived at the shop with a few friends. She sat at a table, staring into the kitchen, lost in thought.

A man wearing a baseball cap sitting nearby noticed her dazed expression and waved his hand in front of her face. “Qingqing, what are you looking at? You’ve been zoning out for minutes. I already reserved a spot at Crescent Moon Restaurant, but you insisted on coming to this little hole-in-the-wall place.”

“Watch your mouth! I heard the food here is amazing. You won’t regret it.”

Yang Qingqing ignored him and continued gazing at the kitchen.

At that moment, Qiao Lu came out to catch her breath and sat down to rest.

Yang Qingqing quickly leaned over and started a conversation. “Miss, can I ask you a few questions? I hope I’m not bothering you.”

“Sure, ask away.”

Without even looking up, Qiao Lu fiddled with her phone, replying casually.

“Does your boss have a girlfriend?”

Yang Qingqing asked with anticipation, eager to know more about Qin Feng.

“Nope.”

Qiao Lu shook her head.

“Really?”

Yang Qingqing’s face lit up with delight at the answer.

Then Qiao Lu looked up and added, “But he does have a wife. And a daughter.”

“What?! He has a wife and a daughter?”

Yang Qingqing was stunned. She had imagined all sorts of romantic possibilities with Qin Feng, but now it all seemed impossible.

Qiao Lu glanced at her, finding her reaction amusing, then got up and went back into the kitchen.

Hearing Qiao Lu mention a strange girl outside, Qin Feng stepped out to see what was going on. When he spotted Yang Qingqing, he asked, “Why are you here again?”

“You saved my life, so I have to thank you!”

Yang Qingqing beamed at him, her face full of sincerity.

“I get it, and I appreciate it. But you don’t have to keep dwelling on it.”

To Qin Feng, it was just a small matter, nothing worth making a fuss over.

But Yang Qingqing wasn’t about to let it go so easily. She said, “That won’t do! My family has strict rules about this. A life-saving debt must be repaid.”

Seeing her persistence, Qin Feng asked, “So, how do you plan to repay me?”

“Well, I was considering marrying you, but since you already have a wife and kid, I’ll have to think of another way to thank you,” Yang Qingqing said, half-jokingly.

“If you’re so determined to thank me, how about helping me hand out flyers? How does that sound?”

Knowing he had to give her something to do, Qin Feng decided to put her to work.

“Sure! Give me the flyers, and I’ll make sure your business booms!”

“Flyers? I don’t have any. You’d have to make them yourself. If I could just hire someone to hand them out, I wouldn’t need your help.”

“Fine, it just so happens I’m from Xue Art Academy. Making flyers is a piece of cake for me!”

Yang Qingqing thumped her chest confidently.

“Great. Then hand them out in other areas. This shop is already fairly well-known around here.”

Qin Feng was trying to send her as far away as possible so she wouldn’t bother him.

Yang Qingqing gave an OK sign, then left with her friends.

Later, Qin Feng went to the supermarket to buy a few bags of chili peppers, oil, and various seasonings. He planned to launch a breakfast menu, with hot, steaming noodles as the star item. Each day, he would introduce a different type of noodle, keeping it fresh for an entire month.
