He Can Hear My Thoughts: A Tease Like Me, Loved by a 70s Soldier Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Song Si quietly stepped back a little.

Li Li swung and missed, both annoyed and furious. “What are you hiding for? You’ve done something so shameless and disgraced both your father and me, and you still have the nerve to hide!”

She reached out with one hand to grab Song Si, while the other hand raised high, aiming a slap at her face.

Song Dalong reacted quickly, rushing to stop her. “Honey, don’t do this. What are you doing? Let’s not hit the child—let’s talk it out calmly.”

Li Li was fuming with rage, and after years of good living, she was now quite sturdy. Song Dalong, on the other hand, had always been skinny and couldn’t hold her back.

He wrapped his arms around her waist.

Li Li kept struggling and bouncing in his arms, like she was trying to leap up and tear Song Si apart.

Song Si stepped into a safe spot, keeping a distance from them to avoid getting caught in the chaos. Her calm, watery eyes looked at Li Li and Song Dalong without a ripple of emotion.

[So fierce. Is it because they just found out I’m not their biological daughter? Or have they always hit their daughter like this?]

Hearing Song Si’s voice suddenly, both Li Li and Song Dalong froze.

One couldn’t hold on anymore, the other couldn’t handle the pressure, and with a loud “thud!”, Li Li knocked Song Dalong over.

“Ow—!”

Song Dalong’s back slammed onto the concrete floor.

Li Li’s hefty body landed right on top of him, and for a moment, Song Dalong couldn’t make a sound.

Li Li scrambled to get up and turned to look at him. “Old Song, are you okay?”

Song Dalong’s face was pale, sweat beading on his forehead. “My back…”

Li Li said, “Let me help you up.”

She had strength and grabbed Song Dalong in one pull.

“Ow—ow ow ow—don’t move!”

Crack!

Li Li quickly let go in fear, not daring to touch him again, looking at him nervously. “Is your back broken?”

Song Dalong couldn’t even speak anymore—it was clearly a fracture!

He lay on the ground, his body twitching in pain.

Li Li turned back to glare at Song Si. “This is all your fault! Not only have you humiliated us and ruined our relationship with your Uncle Song’s family, now your father’s hurt too. It’s all because of you!”

Song Si calmly reminded her, “Mom, I think Dad was hurt because you crashed into him. What’s your weight now?”

Li Li exploded with rage. “What did you say? Are you calling me fat?”

Song Si replied softly, “I didn’t say that. You said it yourself.”

She glanced over Li Li’s figure.

Li Li was seething, her whole body trembling with anger. “Let’s see if I don’t teach you a lesson today!”

She hadn’t even lunged when they all heard Song Dalong roar—

“Enough, stop it! I’m still lying on the ground here!”

Li Li realized she’d gotten too carried away and suppressed her anger, crouching down next to Song Dalong. “What should we do? I’ll help you onto the bed.”

Song Dalong groaned, “Don’t worry about me, let me just lie here for now.”

He lay flat on the ground, enduring the pain, his expression complicated as he looked at Song Si. “Si Si, did you find out something?”

Hearing this, Li Li also recalled what Song Si had said earlier, her heart sinking.

Back then, since they didn’t know Song Si wasn’t their biological daughter—even if they didn’t get along after marrying her off—they turned a blind eye. After all, such a great match, they wouldn’t have found it even if they prayed for it!

Minister Lu had taken good care of their family, even helped both Li Li and Song Dalong find jobs.

They had lived well these past years!

Just look—such good in-laws were hard to come by, even with a lantern search.

But that was then. Now that they knew Song Si wasn’t their biological daughter, naturally they wanted to give this good marriage to their real daughter, Nian Nian.

Song Si watched the two of them with strange expressions. “Found out what?”

Song Dalong groaned as he asked, “Si Si, who told you?”

Before Song Si could answer, Lu Yancheng returned.

Not only did he bring cigarettes, but he’d also bought some bread. Walking in and seeing Song Dalong lying on the floor, he froze. “Uncle Song, what happened?”

Before Li Li could respond, the three of them all heard Song Si’s inner voice—

[What do you think happened? My mom tried to hit me, jumped three feet in the air, and my dad tried to stop her—she knocked him flying and landed right on him. Pretty sure she broke his back.]

Li Li was so embarrassed she flushed red. She had always been very careful about her image in front of this son-in-law—now it was completely ruined!

She glared at Song Si. “If you hadn’t been caught having an affair with Gu Chen in a temple in broad daylight, making Xiaochen lose face, we wouldn’t have come all this way, and your father wouldn’t be hurt! This is all your fault.”

Song Si calmly said, “I didn’t. I don’t even like that pretty boy Gu Chen. Standing next to me, I’m still taller than him even in heels—how could I possibly like him or sneak around with him?”

As she spoke, her watery eyes looked at Lu Yancheng. She walked over and gently tugged his sleeve. “Hubby, isn’t that right?”

Lu Yancheng looked at Li Li and Song Dalong. “Uncle Song, Auntie Li, this must be a misunderstanding.”

Li Li: “……”

Song Dalong: “……”

The couple fell silent at the same time.

What now?

It looked like they’d have to tear off all pretense!

Their Song family had done the Lu family a favor. If the Lu family refused to let Lu Yancheng and Song Si divorce, then they’d be ungrateful.

Li Li tried to restrain her temper and looked at Lu Yancheng. “Xiaochen, you’re kind enough not to hold grudges. But we know very well what she’s done over the past year.”

Lu Yancheng looked at Song Si.

Song Si remembered what the deputy commander’s wife had said the night before and felt a little guilty.

She looked at Lu Yancheng.

Lu Yancheng spoke quietly. “Uncle Song, Auntie Li, did you come this time because of Si Si’s background?”

He looked at both of them.

Song Dalong and Li Li’s eyes flickered.

Looks like Minister Lu had already told Xiaochen that Song Si wasn’t their biological daughter?

But Xiaochen’s reaction…

Suddenly they felt nervous and stared closely at his expression.

Lu Yancheng said, “Let’s send Uncle Song to the village clinic first. We’ll talk about everything else when my father gets here, okay?”

“Xiaochen…”

Li Li had just opened her mouth when her husband cut her off—

“Alright, let’s do that first.”

Song Dalong was in so much pain he could barely take it.

Besides, unless absolutely necessary, he didn’t want to offend the Lu family and ruin their relationship. Afraid his wife might get too aggressive, he quickly stepped in.

Li Li swallowed her words.

Lu Yancheng squatted down and lightly pressed a few spots on Song Dalong’s back. “Uncle Song, does this hurt?”

“No.”

“What about here?”

“Aah—!”

Lu Yancheng said grimly, “Looks like your spine’s fractured. The village clinic might not be able to handle it. I’ll take you to the city.”

Song Dalong was terrified that he’d end up paralyzed and never walk again. He quickly agreed, “Okay.”

Lu Yancheng added, “Uncle Song, Auntie Li, wait here. I’ll borrow a car from the army base. Uncle Song’s seriously hurt—he can’t sit up, he’ll have to lie down.”

Li Li nodded and suddenly got nervous. “Alright, hurry.”

Once Lu Yancheng was gone, she’d settle the score with that little b*tch Song Si!
