Chapter 27
Hearing those words, Song Si glanced at Lu Yancheng.
Lu Yancheng stayed silent.
Song Si had to speak up. “Grandma, don’t worry, we’re trying for a baby. Maybe we’ll have good news in a few days.”
Upon hearing this, the old lady of the Lu family was overjoyed. “Good, that’s wonderful! Really wonderful! I feel so happy, full of energy, even my health feels better!”
Seeing Lu Yancheng just watching the scene like an outsider, Song Si spoke softly, “Grandma, it’s just that A-Chen got injured before, so his health isn’t great. He needs to recuperate.”
Lu Yancheng: “……”
Clearly, she was doing it on purpose!
The old lady looked at Song Si with concern.
Song Si quickly reassured her, afraid the old woman would worry too much. “He didn’t tell you before because he didn’t want you to worry. But ever since we got married, he’s been actively recovering. Uncle Chen even asked a doctor to check on him. It’s much better now, so we felt okay telling you.”
The old lady let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good, then.”
Lu Yancheng’s dark eyes locked onto Song Si.
Song Si: “……”
[What are you looking at? I’m helping you talk because you wouldn’t say a word yourself!]
[I hold grudges—I never let them carry over to the next day.]
Lu Yancheng quietly squeezed her hand.
Song Si pretended not to notice and continued chatting cheerfully with the old lady.
The old woman was delighted by her and laughed nonstop.
After a while, Song Si suddenly turned to the old lady and playfully complained, “Grandma, A-Chen has a bad temper and always scolds me. Can you say something to him?”
Lu Yancheng widened his eyes and looked at Song Si, lowering his voice in warning. “That’s enough. Don’t go too far.”
Song Si responded, “I won’t stop.”
Seeing that he clearly had no intention of divorcing her, she felt relieved.
The old lady immediately began lecturing her grandson. “A-Chen, that’s not right. Si-Si is a girl—she should be cherished. How can you scold her?”
Lu Yancheng, “Grandma, I didn’t. Don’t listen to her…”
Song Si cut in, “He did, Grandma. Look at him—he won’t even admit it! What if I get pregnant and he keeps stressing me out like this?”
Lu Yancheng: “……”
No matter how he tried to explain, Grandma refused to believe him and even picked up a book nearby to hit him a few times.
“From now on, don’t scold Si-Si anymore. Your attitude is clearly the problem.”
Song Si chimed in cheerfully, “Exactly! And you still act like this in front of Grandma.”
Lu Yancheng lowered his voice, “Song Si, just you wait.”
Song Si retorted, “Fine, I’ll wait. Who’s afraid of you?”
A moment later, she stood up. “Grandma, I’m going to the restroom.”
The old lady let go of her hand. “Alright, go on. The toilet’s outside—turn right and you’ll see it.”
Song Si, “Okay, Grandma.”
Just as she stepped outside, Lu Yancheng got up. “Grandma, I’ll go check on her. She’s timid, and it’s still dark—the hallway’s a bit dim.”
The old lady nodded, very pleased. “Go on, go.”
As soon as Song Si walked out, before she could react, someone grabbed her arm from behind.
Afraid of disturbing others, she lowered her voice. “Lu Yancheng!”
Lu Yancheng, “Weren’t you just running your mouth in front of Grandma?”
Seeing no one around, he pulled Song Si into his arms and lowered his head to bite her lips.
Song Si, “Mmm…”
Her lips were immediately sealed tight.
She struggled and pushed at him, slapping his shoulder.
But the man was as solid as a wall—he didn’t budge an inch.
[Lunatic! This man is crazy! This is a hospital corridor, for heaven’s sake! He’s not afraid of being seen?!]
[Lu Yancheng!]
[Ugh, he’s practically chewing my lips off…]
Hearing her inner thoughts only made Lu Yancheng’s blood burn hotter.
Not far away, He Yunzhen, who had been hiding and overhearing everything, stood there in a daze, completely shocked.
She had come back early because it was cold outside and she was underdressed. Old Lu told her to return first.
But just as she reached the door to the hospital room, she heard Song Si complaining to Grandma about her son, then the argument between her son and daughter-in-law.
Then, Song Si suddenly came out, and He Yunzhen, not wanting to be caught eavesdropping like an awkward elder, quickly ducked into a corner… only to witness everything that followed.
The panting sounds in the distance—wasn’t that clearly her son?
Was that really her son?
She couldn’t help but peek out—her son had pinned Song Si against the hospital’s white wall…
[Ah! Lu Yancheng, are you a dog? All you do is bite!]
[If you keep this up, I’ll scream!]
Lu Yancheng stared at her, his dark eyes growing darker.
Go ahead and scream!
She’s thinking it, but who can hear inner thoughts?
Still, he was definitely enjoying them.
On the side, He Yunzhen stood frozen.
What… what is going on?
Her face flushed bright red as she stared at the scene, Song Si’s voice echoing in her head.
They were just kissing… right?
But then, how was Song Si speaking?
Or did she mishear?
Suddenly, Lu Yancheng picked up Song Si, eyes burning. “To the restroom. It’s early—no one’s around. You provoked me.”
Hearing that, Song Si said, “No! I’m not going!”
Lu Yancheng, “Didn’t you just tell Grandma we were trying for a baby? You’re so filial. Grandma’s getting old—shouldn’t we work harder so she can hold her great-grandchild sooner?”
Not far away, He Yunzhen stood stunned, watching her son carry a clearly unwilling Song Si into the men’s restroom.
She didn’t follow—her face was so red it looked like it might start bleeding.
She stood there in a daze until Lu Yuanzheng came by with breakfast.
“Yunzhen, why are you just standing there?”
She snapped back to reality and looked at him, lips moving as if to say something—but she didn’t know how.
Some things were too embarrassing to say. She just couldn’t get the words out.
In this era, people were modest and reserved. Even at home, such things were done behind closed doors and under the covers. But what her son and Song Si just did was completely shocking—it shattered her worldview.
“Yunzhen, did you catch a cold or something? Your face is so red.”
Still dazed, she replied, “Maybe…”
Lu Yuanzheng handed her the breakfast. “You take this inside. I’ll go use the restroom, then find a nurse to get you some cold medicine.”
He Yunzhen blurted out, “Don’t go!”
She grabbed his arm.
Lu Yuanzheng looked at his wife, puzzled by her strange expression.
Flushed with embarrassment, He Yunzhen lowered her voice. “Yancheng and Song Si are… inside.”
Lu Yuanzheng paused. “I’m going to the men’s restroom. It’s not like Si-Si would be in there…”
He Yunzhen took a deep breath. “Lu Yancheng carried her in there.”
Lu Yuanzheng stared at her for a moment, trying to grasp what she meant.
At that moment, Song Si came out of the men’s restroom—her clothes slightly disheveled.
