Chapter 5
The system forced a reboot with its last bit of power, and the voice cut off automatically.
Song Si: “!!!”
She seemed to understand something!
So, whether or not she heard the rest didn’t matter as much anymore.
Her watery eyes looked toward Lu Yancheng, and after a moment, she finally spoke, “Um… I may have been a little overboard before…”
She trailed off, not knowing how to continue.
She just quietly looked at Lu Yancheng.
Lu Yancheng was still thinking about the voices he’d heard earlier. What was the system? Who was the original host? What did it mean to cling to his thigh?
Was he hallucinating?
Maybe she really had spoken, and he just missed seeing it?
Hearing Song Si’s voice, he asked in a low voice, “Do you really like Gu Chen?”
Song Si quickly responded, “No way! He’s short and frail—what could I possibly like about him?”
Lu Yancheng couldn’t help but recall the indecent things she’d said earlier:
[“Holy crap, my heart! What a top-tier rugged hottie!”]
[“That face, that build, that body, those long legs… I can’t take it. Totally my type. Just one look and my kinks are skyrocketing!”]
Surprisingly, he didn’t feel entirely repulsed by her comments.
But still…
After a few seconds of silence, he said in a low tone, “Don’t use vulgar language anymore.”
Song Si looked innocent, “I didn’t! When did I say anything vulgar?”
Lu Yancheng sneered and exposed her, “Like ‘holy crap’ and ‘my damn heart,’ those kinds of words.”
Song Si awkwardly turned to look out the car window, and only then did she realize they had already arrived at the military compound.
Lu Yancheng’s face looked a little unnatural. His deeply tanned skin even flushed a bit red.
He never expected her to suddenly have… thoughts about his body!
Kinks!
She’d actually said his figure, build, and legs matched her kinks, and that they made her… kinks skyrocket.
Wasn’t this straight-up lewd behavior?
He prided himself on being upright, but after all, he was a man—and it stirred a bit of a physiological reaction.
Two years ago, when he met Song Si for the first time, it was to fulfill the engagement arranged by their parents. Naturally, he had taken a liking to her.
Her looks perfectly matched his ideal of a wife.
Plus, the gratitude he owed to Uncle Song’s family gave him extra feelings toward her.
At the time, she hadn’t objected, and they got married, but after marriage, her behavior changed drastically and she became cold to him.
So even after a year of marriage, they had yet to consummate their relationship.
Thinking about this, his face warmed up. He rolled down the window a bit to cool himself down.
The jeep entered the military compound and stopped right in front of the commander’s home.
It was Saturday, and the military district was off duty, while work was still ongoing back in Baiyang Village.
Hearing the car horn, Commander Chen and his wife came out together. Seeing Song Si return with Lu Yancheng surprised them.
Since Xiao Lu got married, Song Si had never visited the compound.
He’d only seen her once—on the day of their wedding. The girl was fair-skinned and had a scholarly aura. He never would’ve expected her to behave the way rumors described.
But then again, she was a well-educated woman, while military men tended to be rough around the edges—more aggressive and less romantic or affectionate. It kind of made sense.
As for that Gu fellow—he had looked into him. Indeed, the man had a refined, scholarly air. Probably the type young women were drawn to.
Though he didn’t really like Song Si, he and Lu Yancheng’s parents had been comrades in life-and-death situations. He knew a bit about the two families’ arrangements, and Lu Yancheng’s father had personally asked him to look after the girl.
So even if he didn’t like her much, he reluctantly looked out for her.
Commander Chen smiled kindly at Song Si. “Xiao Song, have you eaten?”
Song Si paused—she was indeed a little hungry.
She looked at Lu Yancheng.
Lu Yancheng quickly said, “Commander, I’ll cook for us at home.”
Commander Chen chuckled, “I know for a fact you haven’t had lunch yet, Xiao Lu.”
He exchanged a look with his wife, Qin Hua.
Qin Hua naturally linked arms with Song Si and said warmly, “Sisi, perfect timing—the food’s ready. Come eat with us. No need to be formal with Aunt Qin and Uncle Chen. We’re all family.”
Song Si was whisked away.
Commander Chen glanced at Lu Yancheng. After his wife and Song Si went inside, he glared at Lu Yancheng. “You’ve got all these skills, and you still can’t win over your wife?”
Lu Yancheng didn’t know how to respond.
Commander Chen turned and walked toward the courtyard. “Come on, what are you standing there for? We’ll talk in my study later. I want a full report.”
Lu Yancheng had no choice but to follow.
When they entered the living room, he saw Song Si chatting happily with Aunt Qin. He couldn’t help but glance at her a few times.
Commander Chen barked, “Why are you just standing there? Go get the food from the kitchen. Or are you planning to let Aunt Qin and your wife serve themselves?”
Lu Yancheng stood straight and gave a standard military salute. “Yes, sir!”
He went to the kitchen.
Commander Chen walked over, sat beside Qin Hua, and listened to their conversation for a bit before saying gently, “Sisi, that Lu Yancheng is like a block of wood. Doesn’t know how to pamper his wife. Be patient with him.”
Song Si smiled a little shyly, her large eyes looking especially clear. “It’s not like that. He’s actually a pretty good guy.”
Commander Chen grew interested. “Oh? How is he good? I haven’t noticed. Tell Uncle Chen.”
Qin Hua gave her husband a look. “Look at you! Their marital matters aren’t your business.”
Commander Chen laughed, “You’re right. I’m just a nosy old man. Don’t mind me, Sisi.”
Song Si spoke sweetly, “Not at all. Uncle Chen, you and Aunt Qin have been really kind to Lu Yancheng in the military district. I should be thanking you.”
Commander Chen and Qin Hua exchanged a glance.
How come this girl didn’t match the rumors from Baiyang Village?
She seemed well-mannered and considerate—and genuinely cared about Lu Yancheng?
Just then, Lu Yancheng walked out of the kitchen with dishes in hand.
Actually, he had overheard their conversation earlier in the kitchen. He wanted to know what she thought of him, so he’d deliberately waited before coming out.
Commander Chen glanced at Lu Yancheng’s back.
So the kid did have feelings for her, huh?
Waiting around like that—just to eavesdrop? This boy was more reserved than he looked.
Looks like there was hope!
He saw an opportunity and chimed in, “Sisi, have you considered joining the military family? Lu Yancheng will be thirty after the new year—he’s not young anymore—and still no kids.”
Qin Hua followed up, “That’s right, Sisi. It’s best to have kids while you’re still young. Easier recovery, and better for your health.”
Song Si: “……”
Whoa!
Did not expect to get hit with the “baby talk” this soon!
She lowered her head and pretended to be shy, saying softly, “Um… Uncle Chen, Aunt Qin, having a child is something two people have to agree on—it’s not just up to me alone.”
The moment she said that, Commander Chen and Qin Hua’s alarms went off.
Especially Commander Chen—his eyes widened as realization dawned.
Could it be that, despite Lu Yancheng’s tall and sturdy build… he was ahem… not very capable?
He said seriously, “Don’t worry, Sisi. I’ll take this matter seriously. Our unit has excellent traditional medicine doctors—I’ll arrange for them to check Lu Yancheng.”
Song Si: “……”
What!
They were at the commander’s house—she didn’t dare think wildly. Afraid they’d hear her inner voice, she instinctively glanced toward the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Lu Yancheng’s face was black as the bottom of a pot, his eyes glaring daggers at Song Si.
Just earlier she’d said his body matched her kink perfectly—now she was telling people he wasn’t “capable”?
Was there a single honest word in this woman’s mouth?!
