Chapter 48: A Little Calculation for You
Ning Qiutang felt someone following her again, so she took off running.
But she was immediately caught by the collar, and she tumbled into his arms because of the momentum.
She looked up and saw his unruly face: “Jiang Sheng, don’t you think you’ve been a little too persistent lately?”
Jiang Sheng sneered, “I’m a ghost, am I?”
Ning Qiutang pouted. She had no way to deal with his persistent entanglement. She just had to endure it for now. Once everything was arranged, she would run away.
“You’re scarier than a ghost,” she sincerely commented.
They walked out together.
Jiang Sheng grabbed her wrist, preventing her from resisting: “If I were a ghost, you really wouldn’t be able to escape.”
Ning Qiutang disagreed. Anything was possible. How could he be so certain?
She suddenly asked, “Do you really have no feelings for Shen Wanwan?”
“You really won’t be with her?”
She asked this because she remembered how Shen Wanwan went crazy in the previous life. It wasn’t unreasonable for her to target Shen Wanwan. This woman was truly idiotic and brainless.
If Jiang Sheng was still going to be with her, she would fight these fools.
No one would survive.
Jiang Sheng looked at her inexplicably. “Why would you think I’d want her? Is she even worthy?”
Ning Qiutang agreed. This Crown Prince had a heart higher than the sky and looked down on everyone equally. It was truly magical that he was with Shen Wanwan in the previous life.
This world must have gone mad.
“Then I can do whatever I want to her, and you won’t interfere?”
“Let me just say, I’ve reached my limit. This woman really thinks I’m a fool. Does she think she’s very clever?”
Jiang Sheng saw her resentment and said, “She’s been trying to provoke you, aiming to make you fight her to the death. Did you consider the consequences of letting her succeed?”
Although power could crush an elephant and make people despair, some people were clearly not human. He even believed in aliens.
“I don’t care about the consequences. How can anyone be so arrogant?”
Ning Qiutang was completely forced into this. She was a pampered young lady who had never been wronged. The events of her previous life weighed on her heart like a heavy stone. She couldn’t remain indifferent.
She couldn’t take revenge on Jiang Sheng, and she couldn’t let Shen Wanwan get away with it.
Jiang Sheng said calmly, “I don’t mean you can’t fight back. Let me handle it.”
“Maybe I’m more effective than you.”
He had a gut feeling that Shen Wanwan wouldn’t dare to touch him, so she resorted to using beauty tricks and seduction on him, while she didn’t care about attacking Ning Qiutang. This proved that he didn’t care about Ningning at all. Since she was afraid of him, his intervention would be more effective.
Ning Qiutang couldn’t deny that she seemed to be a lot worse than in her previous life. Her words were indeed intended to test him or see if he would intervene.
If they fought, she’d be happy to watch.
“Forget it, I’ll take care of my own business.” She walked forward, not wanting him to interfere, or perhaps not wanting to have too much to do with him.
Jiang Sheng’s cold gaze fell on her face: “Ning Qiutang, I said I’ll handle it.”
“Wait for the video tonight.”
Ning Qiutang was excited inside, but she pretended to be angry: “Why are you meddling? You’re so annoying.”
Jiang Sheng pinched her face and sneered: “I’ve caught your little tail, Ningning. Lying and acting, are you not familiar enough with these tricks?”
Ning Qiutang wasn’t annoyed by being exposed. She looked at him calmly and confidently: “I’ll get better at it.”
Jiang Sheng’s eyes were dark and gloomy as he looked at her. It wasn’t anger. His emotions always remained on a straight line, and nothing could make him fluctuate.
The girl who was usually dull and clumsy was suddenly making trouble for herself, and he was a little puzzled.
What did Ning Qiutang need to scheme for that she couldn’t get?
And this scheme wasn’t to win him over.
The boy’s heart was cold and hard like a stone in an iceberg, devoid of emotion, yet amidst the fiery passion, he felt a rare warmth, and he couldn’t wait to melt.
“This Ningning is really likeable.”
Ning Qiutang looked up at him. Likeable? Why? In her previous life, she had also schemed relentlessly, but he said he hated her for being so manipulative.
What went wrong this time?
“I’m going home.” She didn’t want to think about it anymore, because recalling her past life brought her only painful memories.
Jiang Sheng couldn’t stop her, but he promised her one thing he had to do: let her go. His gaze followed her as she left, and then he took out his phone and instructed some people.
After returning home, Ning Qiutang waited for Jiang Sheng’s message and asked the housekeeper to prepare a milk bath and some snacks for her.
When she was soaking in the bathtub, Yu Jiaojiao sent her a message.
“Isn’t it the weekend tomorrow? Come with me to a variety show.”
Ning Qiutang guessed: “Is Pei Tingxu going to be there?”
Yu Jiaojiao: “Yeah, you’re not saying you’re giving both sides a chance to choose.”
“Okay.” Ning Qiutang agreed, after all, she would be there to keep an eye on things.
She put on a movie on her tablet.
A movie about how to commit the perfect crime.
The opening scene was, “Friends who often kill know…”
Ning Qiutang: “Can the person who was killed know too?”
Just as she was about to fall asleep, Jiang Sheng opened a video call.
Ning Qiutang’s hand trembled, and she accidentally answered. As soon as she saw Jiang Sheng’s face, her brain froze for a few seconds.
Until he said with a smile: “Is this a bedtime treat?”
Ning Qiutang was so startled that her phone fell into the water.
She quickly fished her phone out. Well, the phone gloriously sacrificed itself.
She put her phone aside first and chatted with Jiang Sheng on her tablet.
“Why are you video calling out of the blue!”
Jiang Sheng: “You didn’t say I couldn’t, did you? Besides, you can just not answer.”
“You answered, doesn’t that mean you’re actively trying to show me something?”
Ning Qiutang: “No, I didn’t, don’t talk nonsense, I just accidentally answered!”
Jiang Sheng: “Okay, I believe you.”
“But next time, you should wear some clothes, after all, I’m a man, I won’t think too much.”
Ning Qiutang was confused and simply pretended to be dead.
Jiang Sheng sent her a half-minute video.
Ning Qiutang dazedly clicked on it.
In the video, Shen Wanwan was covered with a blanket, and several people surrounded her and beat her mercilessly. They threatened her to drop out of school or transfer.
Otherwise, they would beat her every day.
Jiang Sheng: “Satisfied?”
After watching it, Ning Qiutang didn’t feel anything. She thought she would feel happy to get revenge, but she didn’t.
After all, this couldn’t erase the wounds of her previous life.
“Are you with her?”
Jiang Sheng replied quickly: “Where would I have the time to go in person, I’m at home.”
Ning Qiutang: “Thank you, good night.”
She didn’t want to chat anymore, put down her tablet and got out of the bathtub, intending to go back to rest.
Jiang Sheng was sitting in front of his custom-built supercomputer in the Jiang family, playing games with his friends.
In the gaps between replying to messages, he got several headshots.
Chen Jinshi: “Lying down and winning! This is the best feeling!”
