Chapter 50: Don’t you think something’s weird?
This scoundrel, how dare he be so brazen.
Ning Qiutang struggled to get off him, “Do you think I’m stupid? You want to kiss me again!”
Jiang Sheng clicked his tongue and said nonchalantly, “Why are there so many bugs on the ground?”
Ning Qiutang immediately quieted down, not daring to move, “M-many… many?”
She was terrified of bugs and didn’t dare to look back.
Jiang Sheng watched her cling to him, not getting off. He grabbed her thighs and waist, teasingly raising an eyebrow, “Many, they’re everywhere, you can look back and see for yourself.”
Ning Qiutang closed her eyes and refused to turn back, patting the boy’s sturdy shoulder and pleading, “Wuwuwu~Go away, go away, don’t stand here.”
In reality, there was only one small fuzzy caterpillar, its soft body inching forward.
Jiang Sheng chuckled and carried her out.
The cool breeze outside blew on her, Ning Qiutang opened her eyes and looked outside, relieved, “You bad guy, why did you scare me!”
Jiang Sheng felt her acting cute with him, the boy smirked, looking down at her angry expression and slowly explained, “There are bugs everywhere in the wild, didn’t you go looking for them yourself?”
Ning Qiutang realized their posture was too intimate, her legs swinging in the air, she whispered, “Put me down, how long are you going to hold me?”
She was petite, being held by him created a significant height difference, like a little sister.
Jiang Sheng put her down, not wanting to make her truly angry and make her impossible to appease. He even helped her fix her skirt, “It’s windy at night, your skirt is too light.”
Ning Qiutang slapped away his mischievous hand, coldly snorted, “That’s not a reason for you to touch a girl’s skirt.”
“If I want to touch you, do I need a reason? What are you kidding?” Jiang Sheng forcefully grabbed her wrist, preventing her from moving.
He felt it was unsafe and directly pulled her to his car, taking his jacket to put on her.
Ning Qiutang frowned, what was his identity in doing all this?
“Jiang Sheng, don’t you think you’re too nonchalant about this? Our previous relationship could be described as a cold war, you were indifferent to me, even disliked me, now you’re so casual and flirtatious with me?”
If it was simply because she stopped chasing him, and Jiang Sheng had a sudden change of heart, it was too ironic.
Hearing her words, Jiang Sheng forcefully pulled her into his arms, putting the jacket on her, then looked at her and said, “Ning Qiutang, was your liking for me truly genuine?”
“You pursued me crazily, don’t you think about what you did? In my eyes, you were more like a pre-programmed program, just liking me for the sake of liking me. But it’s true that after you stopped liking me, I became interested in you, because you were finally not a fixed program, you were a living Ning Qiutang, a swaying little rose.”
Ning Qiutang was stunned, carefully savoring his words, her mind flashed with her past self, as if she was truly just chasing him for the sake of liking him, everything she did was like acting in a drama, following the script.
Even as he said, what she did to chase him, she followed him everywhere from childhood to adulthood, as if she had no life of her own. Although her heart and eyes were filled with him, it was like achieving a goal, not allowing anyone to get close to him, doing all sorts of self-destructive things, being brainless and infatuated, her words were like having a stroke, crazy.
Her pursuit, even her present self couldn’t empathize with, she frowned, how could she do so many stupid things.
“I feel something is weird, did my condition worsen?” Ning Qiutang felt a sense of dread, the more she recalled, the more blurred her memories became, as if some force made her forget the stupid things she did, pretending to be normal.
Jiang Sheng said with a calm expression, “Have you ever thought that you’re not actually sick?”
“Ningning, I used to think I was the crazy one in this world, and now you’re the same as me.”
Ning Qiutang took a deep breath, not daring to think about the meaning of his words. Her gaze flickered slightly as she saw the crew working over there. Yu Jiaojiao needed help, so she said, “I’ll go help first. Don’t change the subject. My question is still how you think I can just pretend nothing happened. Your belated attention and affection are already too late.”
With that, she insisted on leaving.
Jiang Sheng couldn’t hold anything back, watching as something slipped away from his grasp. His dark eyes flickered with a faint light, his expression unclear.
My little rose, there’s plenty of time. How could it be too late?
When Ning Qiutang went to find Yu Jiaojiao, she was staring wistfully at Pei Tingxu over there, chatting with his wife and having a lively conversation with other newly married couples.
Yu Jiaojiao’s brush was stuck on the hot grill, already starting to smoke.
“Jiaojiao, take the brush off.” Ning Qiutang reminded her, placing the items from the menu on the grill.
Yu Jiaojiao snapped out of her daze, seemingly a little confused.
Ning Qiutang asked, “Pei Tingxu came over just now?”
“Yeah, he’s so gentle.” Yu Jiaojiao was even more infatuated with this almost perfect man, as if she would turn into a yandere the next second.
Ning Qiutang’s eyelids twitched, and she quickly said, “Jiaojiao, don’t you think they’re really happy?”
Yu Jiaojiao didn’t think much of it: “So what? That woman is just holding Pei Tingxu back. If it weren’t for my silent support, Pei Tingxu wouldn’t have become successful so quickly. He was almost taken advantage of by the entertainment industry’s unspoken rules because of his lack of resources.”
In her opinion, Pei Tingxu’s wife was just a burden.
Ning Qiutang felt that her thoughts were very dangerous and unethical: “But for people who love each other, there are no flaws in their partner. And regardless of poverty or wealth, health or sickness, they should stay together forever.”
“You think Pei Tingxu is good because he doesn’t leave his wife, because he didn’t give up his former love for various benefits or a better choice.”
Yu Jiaojiao looked at her best friend with resentment: “Which side are you on?”
“I’m on your side, but don’t hurt yourself or others. After all, that woman didn’t do anything wrong. Forcing them apart will only make their relationship stronger.”
Ning Qiutang tried to stop her from directly trying to steal someone from another angle.
Yu Jiaojiao hummed in response: “Oh, don’t worry. I won’t force him.”
“I won’t do anything that would make him dislike me, but I won’t give up either.”
Ning Qiutang didn’t know what she meant by not giving up.
But seeing that there was no obsession in her eyes, she felt a little relieved.
Over there, the guests were asked questions.
They were asked a question.
If you were to separate in the future, would you regret getting married?
Everyone had their own answers, most of them looking forward to a future filled with mutual respect and understanding, with their love growing stronger.
Pei Tingxu’s answer was: “We will always be together. We were, we are, and we will be.”
