Chapter 52: Don’t Be Afraid, I Won’t Hurt You
Jiang Sheng’s handsome face gradually darkened, his cold eyes narrowed as he looked at her with a half-smile.
“If you’re adrift, I’ll be your driftwood. If you turn back, I’ll be your endless harbor. You’ve always had the choice, it’s always been me.”
Ning Qiutang couldn’t help but take a step back, his unrestrained, domineering attitude made her heart tremble. “Jiang Sheng, do you have to be like this?”
For her, she never wanted to be forced to choose again, she just wanted the outcome she desired.
Jiang Sheng pressed closer, one hand in his pocket, his eyebrows raised with a hint of danger in his eyes. “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you.”
“But don’t even think about running away, or I don’t know what I might do.”
This was definitely a threat.
Ning Qiutang felt like a trapped animal, surrounded by danger, she was lost and helpless, hoping someone would come down from the heavens and save her from this fire. She didn’t trust anyone.
Her tears fell like pearls, moving anyone who saw them.
“No one can stop me, not even you at 19. I was moved by you, and because of that, I fell into the abyss. I don’t blame you, because no one has the right to force someone to love them.”
“Jiang Sheng, if you force me, I won’t give you a chance.”
Sick people are prone to extremes.
Jiang Sheng frowned slightly, seeing the resolute and decisive look in her eyes, a subtle crack appeared in his heart, as if something was struggling to break free.
He grabbed her arm, suddenly hugging her, his voice calm and without a ripple, “How could I ever force you? I’ll make you love me again.”
Ning Qiutang only felt his embrace was cold and ruthless, his persistence seemed to lack any sincerity in her eyes. He was playing with her heart, mocking her weakness.
“Jiang Sheng, you have no heart.”
“I do, I’ll dig it out and show you.” Jiang Sheng held her tighter, the little girl, fresh out of the shower, smelled so good it made him lose himself.
Ning Qiutang heard a noise from the other side, she pulled her head out of his embrace to shift her attention. “I believe in Jiaojiao’s fighting ability, after all, she can knock the heads of several big boys open. I’m worried about the safety of others.”
Jiang Sheng slowly let go of her, giving her freedom. “Can’t we have a less serious conversation in the future? You know I’m not a serious person.”
“If you were just a little more serious, I wouldn’t have to keep saying these nagging things.” Ning Qiutang walked past him and hurried to find Yu Jiaojiao.
Jiang Sheng got into the driver’s seat, watching the girl run away.
His phone lit up next to him.
“Everyone’s waiting for you.”
Jiang Sheng replied, “I’m not going.”
The guests suddenly started fighting, all because a male guest said something offensive about Pei Tingxu’s wife, and then they just started brawling.
Yao Zhi was pushed away from the scene by her assistant.
Yu Jiaojiao rushed forward and subdued the male guest who was cursing.
The young lady, with her bad temper, said directly, “Can we film this or not? If not, then scram.”
Everyone looked at her in surprise.
The director immediately came over to smooth things over. “Ahem, let me introduce you, this is our program’s investor.”
The male guest who was making trouble immediately became quiet upon hearing this.
This was the boss, they wouldn’t want to lose their jobs.
Pei Tingxu looked at the young investor unexpectedly.
Yao Zhi looked thoughtfully at the girl who had rushed out to protect Pei Tingxu, as if she had an epiphany.
Finally, the crew reorganized the scene.
The male guest apologized to Yao Zhi.
Yao Zhi didn’t mind, after all, it wasn’t just him who said she was disabled.
Pei Tingxu thanked Yu Jiaojiao.
“I didn’t expect you to have such an identity. Thank you for your help.”
Yu Jiaojiao smiled slightly at him, her eyes sparkling with stars that couldn’t be hidden. “People like that, who are rude and ill-mannered, deserve to be taught a lesson.”
Pei Tingxu smiled back, immediately returning to take care of his wife.
Yu Jiaojiao suppressed the urge to follow his gaze and turned to leave.
Ning Qiutang bumped into her, grabbing her best friend’s hand and saying, “You’re exposing yourself like that?”
“Well, he knows me now, I can’t hide my identity.” Yu Jiaojiao had a plan. The two went aside to watch the recording.
Because they had to decide where to sleep that night, the guests needed to play a game to determine their choices.
Of course, the games were all for two people. On Pei Tingxu’s side, due to his wife’s situation, he had to do the task alone.
The game task they drew was for couples to face each other, squeeze balloons, and transport them from the starting point to the finish line, a total of twenty meters. Within a set time, the number of balloons transported would determine their choice.
Everyone was confident.
Yao Zhi suddenly said, “I can’t do the task with Pei Tingxu, can someone else take my place?”
“What are you talking about, Yao Zhi!” Pei Tingxu’s face wasn’t looking good. How could she say such a thing?
Yao Zhi ignored him, looking at Yu Jiaojiao outside and asking, “Are you willing to take my place and participate in the game with him?”
Ning Qiutang was surprised. What was Yao Zhi trying to do? What kind of newlywed wife pushes her husband away like that?
Yu Jiaojiao frowned. She liked to fight for herself, she didn’t need anyone’s sympathy or concessions.
Just as she was about to refuse, Pei Tingxu walked back and said to her seriously, “Don’t be silly, I can do it myself.”
Yao Zhi calmly looked at him, “It’s fine, everyone else is in pairs, it’s bad for you to do the task alone. Miss Yu is just taking your place, what are you afraid of?”
“Yao Zhi…” Pei Tingxu wanted to say something.
Yao Zhi interrupted him, “That’s it, or I won’t record.”
Pei Tingxu fell silent.
Yu Jiaojiao found it strange.
“Miss Jiaojiao, please help, otherwise he’ll be too pitiful.”
Yao Zhi practically begged her.
Yu Jiaojiao went up.
She just wanted to know what this rival was up to.
So she said to the man with a complex expression and silence, “Let’s do this, we’ll transport the balloons back-to-back.”
Pei Tingxu looked at Yao Zhi’s indifferent face and nodded.
Then the camera was in place.
The other three real couples were all excited, facing each other, holding balloons, ready for action.
Yu Jiaojiao and Pei Tingxu were completely strangers, even back-to-back holding balloons, it felt like there was a galaxy between them.
With the director’s command.
The game officially began.
The other couples immediately took action, transporting the balloons with great teamwork, only they, the newly acquainted pair, were awkward and stiff, not knowing what to do.
Yu Jiaojiao turned around and wanted to tell him to go first.
Pei Tingxu took the initiative to say, “Let’s take it slow, winning or losing doesn’t matter.”
Due to his strong professional ethics, even though things were awkward now, he had to do his best in the recording.
Yu Jiaojiao hummed in response, and they tried to move. At first, it was slow, gradually getting used to each other’s movements, and then gradually speeding up.
They both seemed to be strong-willed people, and once they got used to working together, their transportation efficiency increased significantly.
The other couples were joking around, while they worked hard to complete the task, their eyes full of determination, as if they were about to join the party.
Ning Qiutang watched with amusement, these two, you know, actually had a kind of disregard for everyone else’s death, a sense of being a good match.
She immediately thought of the man’s wife, and she condemned her own immorality.
