Chapter 15 Seeking an Oracle, Hard to Bear Children
Qin Mohuai’s cold, fierce gaze gradually softened. “Baby, sometimes I really don’t know what’s going on in that little head of yours.”
Xia Yuan silently thought: I’m thinking about your impotence.
The tall and handsome man stood up, gently pulling the girl who was sitting alone on the stone bench into his arms. Her little bottom had become a bit chubby, but her waist seemed even thinner, easily enveloped by one of his hands.
Qin Mohuai and Xia Yuan had set some ground rules: they would only try for a baby during her ovulation period, and the rest of the time, he wanted her to rest well.
Having over half a month of rest time was fantastic!
Xia Yuan playfully wrapped her delicate white wrist around his neck and gave him a kiss. Leaning against Qin Mohuai’s embrace, the fitted cheongsam accentuated her alluring curves.
Her beautifully colored face was nestled in her dark hair, her breath sweet and thick, and her lips tempting and bright.
Qin Mohuai narrowed his eyes; he couldn’t kiss her, or he wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight after teasing the little enchantress.
“I won’t touch you tonight, but can you at least touch me? You know I have a thing for physical affection. Just holding you without doing anything will be tough for me tonight.”
“No way! We just made our agreement,” Xia Yuan exclaimed, alarm bells ringing in her head as she shook off Qin Mohuai’s hand and strode ahead.
Late at night.
After taking a shower, Qin Mohuai casually dried his wet blue hair and walked over to Xia Yuan, showing off his muscles.
After spending so much time together, how could he not know how much his body attracted Xia Yuan?
Sure enough, her gaze shifted from the computer to him.
Ha.
Was the computer more entertaining than him?
He had intentionally pulled down his gray pajama pants a bit, revealing the edges of his underwear. His pale skin showcased prominent veins, and the deep, sexy V-line disappearing into his waistband invited all kinds of imagination.
“Baby, even though it’s not the right time to conceive tonight, can’t we at least have some couple’s bedtime interaction?” His voice was deep and assertive.
“I’m not denying you anything.”
Xia Yuan closed her laptop and hesitantly sat down on Qin Mohuai’s lap, her cheek brushing against his muscular chest.
Mmm… so bouncy.
The wild male lead had the potential of a nurturing partner.
Although Xia Yuan had several years of dating experience, her previous relationship with a scumbag had been sparse, and she still had her first kiss; she didn’t really understand how real couples interacted.
Qin Mohuai was foolishly explaining the importance of intimacy between couples at bedtime. Xia Yuan, feeling dizzy and confused, believed him. When he kissed her and made her feel weak in the knees, she thought to herself that dating was not easy.
No wonder people often said that a romance could take half your life away.
The next morning, Qin Mohuai and Xia Yuan woke up early to go to Qingyun Temple to pray for a child.
Xia Yuan felt refreshed, though her delicate white wrists were a bit sore.
The steps of Qingyun Temple were numerous, and the two ascended hand in hand.
After a while, Xia Yuan began to slow down.
—
Qin Mohuai was dressed in a white shirt and black dress pants, tall and elegant, his gaze full of indulgence as he looked at her. “Do you want me to carry you?”
When her grandmother was ill, Xia Yuan had stayed at the hospital for a month without feeling fatigued. She used to be very resilient, but after just half a year with Qin Mohuai, she had become so pampered—truly…
Xia Yuan replied, “To pray for a child, we need sincerity. I can walk by myself.”
Qin Mohuai swallowed hard, his voice low and emotional. “It’s tough, baby. We just need this one child. I won’t let you suffer a second time.”
Xia Yuan playfully pouted, “I’m doing this willingly; how can you say I’m suffering?”
After the two of them bowed to the Goddess of Childbirth, they went to seek an oracle.
On their way, they encountered a middle-aged couple who clearly knew Qin Mohuai and approached him to greet him.
“Mr. Gu, Mrs. Gu,” Qin Mohuai acknowledged.
Seeing that the couple had no intention of talking to her, Xia Yuan stood beside Qin Mohuai, acting as an accessory.
The Gu couple exchanged a few words with Qin Mohuai before moving on.
Mrs. Gu remarked, “That girl next to Qin Mohuai doesn’t seem to be the eldest daughter of the Ouyang family.”
Mr. Gu replied, “I heard he was dating; I didn’t expect the rumors to be true.”
Mrs. Gu thought to herself, “Clearly, they are here to pray for a child. The Qin family is powerful, and it’s only natural for someone like Qin Mohuai, at his age, to want a child to secure his position as the heir. But why not choose someone closer? Old Master Qin picked Ouyang Jing as a granddaughter-in-law precisely because she has a high fertility rate.”
—
Xia Yuan handed the oracle she received to the temple priest for interpretation.
Knowing the esteemed identity of his guest, the priest hesitated and said, “From the oracle, it seems… you are not destined to have children. However, if you are sincere, there may still be a slight chance!”
He felt torn inside QAQ.
If he lied, he would be sorry to the Buddha and his own conscience. If he told the truth, Qingyun Temple might lose the donations of a super-rich benefactor.
Xia Yuan believed this was fate; the system had already informed her that this body had died and could not bear children. Now, hearing the priest say she was not destined for children, even the gods of this world could not grant her a child.
Qin Mohuai’s jaw tightened, his thin lips pressed into a straight line. When he saw Xia Yuan on the verge of tears, he quickly wrapped his arms around her and left the main hall, disregarding the priest and the oracle.
The quiet and beautiful girl leaned in his embrace, silently shedding tears, making Qin Mohuai’s heart ache unbearably.
“Sweetheart, why are you crying? Does what the priest say really matter? Are the best oracles guaranteed to be true? As long as you don’t believe it, it’s not real. We are healthy; if we prepare well, we will have a child sooner or later.”
—
“Even if we are not destined to have children, I won’t leave you. If such a sweet girl like you were to disappear because of me, heaven would strike me down with lightning. Why are you crying? I should be the one crying. What if you go and have a child with some other wild man?”
Xia Yuan broke into a smile, amused that he was still making jokes at such a serious moment.
Qin Mohuai took out a handkerchief to wipe her tears. “It’s alright, baby. I’m here for everything.”
Xia Yuan’s enchanting eyes dimmed as she said, “But I want to have a mini version of you, my husband. I only want to have babies with you.”
This statement hit Qin Mohuai like a slam dunk on the basketball court, igniting his blood and making his emotions run wild.
**System:** Love points increased by 88%!
Qin Mohuai had another purpose for bringing Xia Yuan to the temple.
He received a set of jade Buddhist beads blessed by a high monk and put them around Xia Yuan’s neck.
The beauty wore a delicate pink qipao, her skin fair and delicate, with the glowing green beads wrapped twice around her neck, highlighting her unique aura, as if she were the cherished ancestor of some family.
Xia Yuan was taken aback. “You didn’t say you were going to buy me Buddhist beads. This is too precious.”
Qin Mohuai replied, “I didn’t buy them; these are part of my grandmother’s dowry, kept for many years. If she were still alive, she would have given them to you herself.”
He smiled gently, but a dark and twisted feeling stirred in his heart. The desire for a child was not just to solidify his position as the heir, but also to bind her to him.
Xia Yuan was like a lazy mushroom, drifting outside the rules of this world. Sometimes he felt he deeply possessed her; other times, he felt he could lose her at any moment, unable to step into the world she inhabited.
