Chapter 20 Texting My Wife, and Getting Scolded

“Kick me out? Are you trying to take my life?!” Xia Yuan blurted out.

Qin Mohuai was amused, raising an eyebrow and curling his lips into a smirk as he pulled her from the sofa to the carpet.

With him cushioning her fall, Xia Yuan didn’t get hurt.

Even if she had, she wouldn’t care about the pain. Unrefined and unrestrained, she sat on Qin Mohuai’s waist, glaring at him with her pure, clean black eyes. “Unless I’m dead, you’d better not think about dumping me!”

“Baby, you’re like a lioness defending her territory right now.”

Qin Mohuai’s exposed collarbone and fingers were pale, and his unruly blue hair lay lazily on the floor, like a mischievous spirit. Suddenly, he exerted force, flipping their positions, making Xia Yuan the one at his mercy.

The atmosphere turned overly ambiguous, and realizing the danger, she quickly scrambled away. Though her escape was less than graceful, survival was the priority!

But he gripped her ankle effortlessly, pulling her back into his embrace, an overwhelming barrage of kisses falling on her.

Xia Yuan’s mind went blank; her body went soft in his arms. Seizing a moment to catch her breath, she exclaimed, “I just finished my period, and I’m not feeling well!”

Qin Mohuai snapped back to reality, helping her adjust her underwear and skirt, as well as fixing her disheveled long hair. He looked gentle and attentive, like the ideal husband, as if he hadn’t just devoured her like a ravenous wolf moments before.

“Such a cultured scoundrel.”

Qin Mohuai paused as he was tying her shoelaces. “What did you say?”

Xia Yuan replied honestly, “I said you’re very cultured, and I like men like you!”

She acted coy, making him want to shower her with affection and coax her into a smile.

Even knowing she was pretending, Qin Mohuai willingly fell for her act.

Xia Yuan patted her forehead. “I almost got tricked by you. What do you mean by wanting to kick me out?”

Qin Mohuai patiently explained, “It’s not about kicking you out. My parents’ death anniversary is approaching, and I tend to be emotionally unstable around this time. I might do some violent and crazy things… For your safety, you should stay outside for a couple of days. Once the anniversary is over, I’ll bring you back home.”

Xia Yuan nodded, wrapping her arms around his neck in a sulky manner, not wanting to leave him.

This was a great opportunity to boost her affection value. She had read plenty of novels and comics about redeeming the madman protagonist. During their weakest moments, a few words could penetrate their psychological defenses, and her affection value would surely skyrocket!

Qin Mohuai led her to the floor-to-ceiling window and, not being gentle at all, pressed her against the glass wall, his indifferent gaze scrutinizing her panicked little face.

“Is this too much? Baby, you’re shaking like a leaf. If you’re scared of this, you’ll probably die of fright when I go crazy. When that happens, I won’t recognize anyone. If I mess you up, it won’t help even if you call me a mad dog.”

Xia Yuan sniffled, holding onto one of Qin Mohuai’s fingers.

This man was really wicked.

Xia Yuan spent the night at Yunxiang Guifu, accompanied by a bodyguard.

Qin Mohuai went to the old residence to help out since this year marked the tenth anniversary of the Qin couple’s passing, and there were many people and arrangements to handle.

Before leaving, the bodyguard gave her a stern warning: “It’s best to go to bed early on the anniversary day, and avoid answering any calls from Mr. Qin. If he comes over, absolutely do not open the door. Although Mr. Qin has practiced Taekwondo and Sanda, he shouldn’t have the strength to break down the door.”

Xia Yuan felt a shiver run down her spine; the warning sounded more like a threat the more she heard it.

Qin Mohuai had been taking medication to stabilize himself. She had never seen him truly lose control; was it really that serious?

“He knows the code for the front door.”

“Then just change it.”

“…Alright.” Xia Yuan changed the code to her birthday.

Her mind was racing with thoughts, making it hard to fall asleep. It was only after she sent a text to Qin Mohuai around one in the morning that she finally drifted off.

At the Qin family’s old residence.

Qin Mohuai stood on the balcony, smoking. His gray-blue hair danced in the wind, and he looked strikingly handsome, but his thoughts were twisted and dirty. He should have taken her right in front of the floor-to-ceiling window this afternoon.

Ouyang Jing spotted him, mustering her courage but still hesitating to approach.

During her recent close dealings with the Qin family, she had heard a lot, which made her uneasy around Qin Mohuai. She felt he was a potential high-IQ serial killer.

There had once been a young and beautiful female psychologist assigned to give him regular therapy. Perhaps because Qin Mohuai had restrained his temper in front of her, the psychologist thought she was special. But once a person gets an idea in their head, they act on it. So instead of helping him, she began to give him subtle hints, even wearing revealing lingerie to entice him.

The psychologist ended up being choked by Qin Mohuai and thrown out of the window. Fortunately, her clinic was on the second floor, so she didn’t die, but after her discharge, she was unlikely to be a whole person again.

After all, she had been his psychologist for three years, and he tossed her aside without a second thought. Ouyang Jing hadn’t even known him for three months; how could she dare to entice him? Speaking of which, how did Xia Yuan and Qin Mohuai end up together?

Old Master Qin, leaning on his cane, looked around and saw his lonely grandson smoking. With a furrowed brow, he walked over.

“Bingbing came today, and you didn’t even say a word to her. I know you don’t like her, but she is your fiancée now; don’t lose your gentlemanly demeanor.”

“Tomorrow is my parents’ death anniversary. I have no mood for debauchery before the anniversary,” Qin Mohuai flicked the ash from his cigarette, his eyes revealing an indifferent and rebellious attitude.

As the two main figures spoke on the balcony, the servants didn’t dare approach, fearing their ears might be chopped off by the stern bodyguard.

But they could clearly hear the sound of the cane—

The sound of knocking grew urgent and angry.

After Qin Mohuai returned to his room, he opened his phone and saw a message from Xia Yuan.

[Make sure to rest, take your medicine, and I’ll wait for you to pick me up the day after tomorrow.]

The coldness in Qin Mohuai’s eyes gradually gave way to emotion as his long, lazy frame sank into the sofa, exuding an air of elegance mixed with recklessness.

[Wife, let me see **]

Xia Yuan got up in the middle of the night for a glass of water, felt for her phone, and glanced at it. Furious, she quickly typed out a barrage of insults, heavily loaded with the words “mad dog” and “pervert.”

The Qin family has a hundred-year legacy and their own family cemetery, where the Qin couple is buried.

The sky was overcast, with rumbling thunder.

Qin Mohuai, dressed in a black suit, had a handsome and cold face that revealed no emotions, resembling the photo of his father on the gravestone.

He gazed at his mother’s tombstone.

“Mom, I’ve found someone to spend my life with. I’ll bring her to see you during the New Year; you’ll definitely like her.”

During the reunion dinner that night, Old Master Qin casually suggested that Ouyang Jing move to Shenghai Manor to cultivate her relationship with Qin Mohuai.

Ouyang Jing quickly looked at Qin Mohuai, shaking her head slightly; that wasn’t her intention.

Qin Mohuai slowly stood up, his smile elegant, his voice gentle and approachable, “Could someone take off the thing around my neck?”

The black electric shock collar, an inch wide, thinly pressed against his pale skin.

The room fell silent, even Old Master Qin dared not say much.

During the day, Qin Mohuai had calmly put on the electric collar to prevent himself from losing control. Now, he was using a beguiling, pleading tone, asking everyone to help him take it off, but who could know if Qin Mohuai was really sane? There was no way anyone would remove it for him! Moreover, he hadn’t even told them how to take it off! So everyone concluded that Qin Mohuai had indeed lost it; he was pretending and wanted to remove the collar to go completely insane.
