Chapter 4
Xie Fuyi noticed that Ye Baixiao’s expression was cold and impatient, reminiscent of the oppressive feeling he had brought in the morning.
“Baixiao, what’s wrong with you?” Xie Fuyi hesitated to speak.
In the next moment, the red light faded from his eyes, Ye Baixiao paused, then regained his calm and composed demeanor, obediently releasing Xie Fuyi’s hand. He explained in a low voice, “Master, he wanted to bully you.”
“What?” Xie Fuyi seemed to have not quite grasped the situation before him, with some confusion on his face, his eyes concealed his thoughts the male lead was acting strange!
On the other hand, once the man was released, the pressure he had felt vanished. It took him a moment to realize that he had been intimidated by a demon with little spiritual power. He became angry and ashamed.
“You, you lowly demon, dare to boast?” The man endured the pain, his other hand slightly raised, forming a decisive spell, swiftly aiming towards Ye Baixiao.
“Be careful!” Xie Fuyi, remembering that Ye Baixiao’s spiritual power fluctuated, quickly raised his hand to cast a spell, attempting to block the attack flying towards him. However, since the man dared to strike, he must have some ability to rely on. Seeing that he couldn’t resist, without hesitation, Xie Fuyi instinctively moved to shield Ye Baixiao behind him.
“Master!” Ye Baixiao’s pupils contracted, his previously indifferent expression instantly tense, he tightened his grip on the person, and a faint gleam flashed at his fingertips. The middle-aged man instantly spat out a mouthful of blood and retreated several steps.
Ye Baixiao breathed a sigh of relief, looking down at the person in his arms. Thinking of how the other had just shielded him, his heart softened instantly. “Master, are you hurt?”
His tense nerves relaxed, and only then did he realize the warm and strong waist in his palm, separated by clothes. He couldn’t tell if his hands were too long or if his master’s waist was too slender; he could actually encircle it with one hand.
Xie Fuyi shook his head to indicate he was fine, gently patting the arm tightly around him, urging him to let go.
Ye Baixiao was distracted for a moment, only returning to his senses when Xie Fuyi patted his hand. He pursed his lips and released his grip.
Xie Fuyi’s expression was unusually serious. He turned to the middle-aged man who was barely standing against the wall and said, “Shopkeeper, we don’t want the things anymore. Since we can’t do business, why hold grudges?”
After saying that, he led Ye Baixiao away without looking back.
The man’s spine had almost turned cold. Just now, Ye Baixiao’s gaze seemed to want to kill him. He dared not speak again in fear.
Xie Fuyi took Ye Baixiao away from the Baibao Pavilion, then instructed, “Baixiao, are you okay? Don’t be so reckless next time. There are many cultivators here on the mountain. If you really provoke someone powerful, I won’t be able to protect you…”
Xie Fuyi still couldn’t believe it. The protagonist got angry just because a passerby touched his hand.
His gaze towards Ye Baixiao couldn’t help but become complicated this shouldn’t be happening! This treatment was clearly something the protagonist received later, on the street!
But in Ye Baixiao’s eyes, Xie Fuyi wasn’t blaming him, but worrying about him.
A warmth spread in Ye Baixiao’s heart, his eyes softened, and he earnestly said, “In the future, no matter what danger we encounter, Master shouldn’t stand in front of me. Let me protect you.”
“How can that be? Since you’ve called me Master, how can you hide behind me when danger comes?” Xie Fuyi was surprised, barely maintaining a natural smile, and dared not say much more to Ye Baixiao. “We haven’t bought anything yet, let’s go somewhere else first.”
According to the plot, he had to buy a new alchemy furnace today. He really couldn’t understand how he could bring back a precious furnace with just a few spirit stones.
“You go first, Master. I’ll come later.” Ye Baixiao watched Xie Fuyi’s departing figure, his black eyes deep.
Xie Fuyi nodded, leaving Ye Baixiao alone to browse the market.
Finally, he stopped at a small stall. After looking at the medium-grade alchemy furnace in his hand, he wondered if this thing could refine the overbearing dragon blood with spiritual power.
Suddenly, a hand supporting a crystal-clear medicine furnace with a faint blue light appeared in front of him. Ye Baixiao, who had disappeared for a while, rushed over and handed the precious medicine furnace to Xie Fuyi. “Master, use this one.”
Xie Fuyi was stunned. This one was even better than the one he had just chosen. It was probably more expensive… It didn’t need to be this good; after all, this furnace would be used to burn him later.
Xie Fuyi looked at Ye Baixiao in surprise. “Where did you get this? Do you have spirit stones?”
Ye Baixiao faintly curved his lips. “I exchanged it with my own things.”
What things? Xie Fuyi scanned Ye Baixiao’s body. Except for the clothes he had just bought for the other party, there was nothing. Could it be dragon blood or dragon scales?
Originally, he wanted to speak out to prevent the other from harming himself. But now he didn’t dare to say more. The protagonist’s plotline was already going off track!
“Alright.” Xie Fuyi directly took the furnace without politeness. “Since we have everything, let’s go back.”
“Okay.” Ye Baixiao lightly responded.
In Ye Baixiao’s mind, a voice echoed cynically — “Since when did the decisive Dragon God become so cautious? He even learned to lie. He’s afraid of letting others know about killing for treasures?”
Ye Baixiao followed behind Xie Fuyi, his expression still cold and calm. But in his mind, he retorted lightly — “I didn’t lie. I left behind a dragon crystal in exchange for the furnace, worth tens of millions.” Although, the ugly man who dared to covet him would never have the chance to use it again.
…
The two returned to the Mists Valley, where Mingqing had been waiting for a long time. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Xie Fuyi.
He stepped forward, intending to take the package from Xie Fuyi’s hand as usual, but Ye Baixiao had already taken all the things and put them in the alchemy room. When he came out, he even had a cup of warm water in his hand.
“Master, are you thirsty? Have some water.” Ye Baixiao’s expression was indifferent, a hint of softness passing through his black eyes.
Ming Qing stared at him. Although he wanted to assign him chores, he felt a bit unhappy when he was actually robbed of his task
of serving the master. He hurriedly said, “Master, are you hungry? I’ll go cook.”
Xie Fuyi took a sip of tea. “Not now. I want to try the new medicine furnace I just bought.”
He took some herbs and went into the alchemy room.
Ye Baixiao lifted his foot to follow but was stopped by Ming Qing. Irritably, Ming Qing said, “Master doesn’t like being disturbed when he’s refining pills. Don’t go in.”
Just as he finished speaking, they heard Xie Fuyi’s voice from inside, “Baixiao, come in.”
Ming Qing: …
Ye Baixiao faintly smiled, showing a hint of politeness. “Senior brother, please step aside.”
He suddenly became polite, which annoyed Ming Qing even more. Watching Ye Baixiao’s departing figure, he angrily turned to the kitchen to study cooking.
Inside the room, Xie Fuyi was putting the prepared herbs into the furnace. Seeing Ye Baixiao come in, he said, “Baixiao, I need your blood…”
Xie Fuyi had prepared a bunch of grandiose words, but before he could say them, Ye Baixiao had already neatly cut his palm, and fresh blood rushed out, falling into the bowl on the side.
Ye Baixiao had made a large cut on his hand, flesh and blood spilling out. He seemed to have no sense of pain at all, his expression unchanged. Even when he saw his wound healing too quickly, the blood almost coagulating, he fiercely cut his wound again, clenched his fist to let the blood flow faster, and in almost no time, he filled a large bowl.
The blood of the Dragon God had no strong smell. It emitted a faint white light, filled with a faint fragrance of spirituality, permeating the room.
“Master, is this enough?” Ye Baixiao’s face turned pale from rapid blood loss, but his eyes toward Xie Fuyi were as clear as ever, without any hesitation.
Xie Fuyi was stunned by the suddenness, only recovering after a while. This guy didn’t even ask why he needed his blood. And in the original plot, wasn’t it just one or two drops? Dragon blood was precious. With this much, even ordinary people would probably be instantly overwhelmed by spiritual power.
So much bloodletting, and before the protagonist even arrives, the protagonist’s attacker has already been drained dry!
Xie Fuyi looked anxious and hurriedly approached Ye Baixiao to give him a hemostatic pill. “Why did you bleed so much? Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
The gentle master suddenly became angry. Ye Baixiao, surprisingly, laughed and reassured him, “Master, don’t worry about me. I’m not an ordinary demon. I’m actually from the Dragon God Clan, and I have a strong recovery ability…”
As Ye Baixiao spoke, he inadvertently held onto Xie Fuyi’s finger while taking the pill. The warm tip of his tongue touched the slightly cool finger that still carried a faint medicinal scent. He abruptly stopped talking, his body tensed instantly, and his heart was beating rapidly.
Xie Fuyi sensed something was wrong and froze for a moment—damn it, that unsettling feeling came again!
Wasn’t it said in the book that the protagonist was cold, ruthless, and decisive? Even if the original body saved him, he wouldn’t pay much attention to the other party, let alone reveal his true identity. So why is this protagonist so obedient now, even eager to bleed himself?
