Chapter 78
Lu Shiyi had always known how strong Ye Baixiao’s oppressive presence could be, but having grown up together, Ye Baixiao had always been somewhat cold towards him. However, at that moment just now, he keenly felt the other’s surging anger, accompanied by a chilling killing intent, almost causing him to stop breathing.
A chill ran down Lu Shiyi’s spine, his fingers clenched tightly, barely maintaining a calm demeanor on his face. He explained in a gentle tone, “He slipped in the bath… I was just helping him check…”
Ye Baixiao’s gaze fell on the delicate ankle of Xie Fuyi, the fair skin slightly swollen.
Xie Fuyi was also startled by Ye Baixiao’s sudden cold anger, but Ye Baixiao’s fury wasn’t directed at him. He didn’t feel the overpowering dominance that the other brought. Angrily, he spoke up to defend Lu Shiyi, “Why are you so aggressive? He just helped me when I fell.”
Even though Lu Shiyi had helped him, how could an alpha stay with an omega while they were bathing?
It was obviously ill-intended!
But the naive omega still believed in the other.
Under Xie Fuyi’s protective gaze, Ye Baixiao couldn’t even immediately beat the other up on the spot. Feeling stifled, he stepped forward to block Lu Shiyi, his eyes cold. “Leave.”
For a moment, Lu Shiyi sensed the inevitable rift that had formed between him and Ye Baixiao.
With a slight smile still on his face, he closed the door considerately when he left, “Remember to apply some medicine for him.”
Ye Baixiao didn’t spare him a glance, squatting down in front of Xie Fuyi to examine his ankle.
He fetched some ointment and gently applied it with calloused fingers.
With only the two of them left in the room, Xie Fuyi suddenly remembered that he had just asked the other to stay and sleep with him?
“Ah…”
Seeing Xie Fuyi’s gaze following Lu Shiyi as he left, his hesitant expression, Ye Baixiao paused for a moment, and the force of his hand applying the ointment unintentionally increased.
Xie Fuyi let out a light sigh, then kicked Ye Baixiao lightly with his other foot. “Be gentle!”
The young master was naturally afraid of pain, but even though Ye Baixiao’s movements were gentle, rubbing in the medication still made his eyes well up with tears.
Ye Baixiao’s heart skipped a beat as he held Xie Fuyi’s foot in his palm, clean and beautiful, the skin smooth and tender, even whiter than his own hands. He couldn’t help but soften his movements, and his icy tone softened slightly, “I’m sorry.”
Xie Fuyi gave a light grunt and glanced at the person kneeling in front of him, casually asking, “Where did you go just now?”
“I went to deal with Norman.” Ye Baixiao didn’t elaborate on how he dealt with him, but he paused and reassured, “Don’t worry, from now on, you can go anywhere on the starship without anyone daring to bully you.” After all, his actions tonight made it clear to everyone how much he cared about Xie Fuyi, his fiancé.
Xie Fuyi couldn’t help but feel that the other still cared a lot about this ‘green hat.’ He had punished Norman, but not him?
Xie Fuyi cautiously spoke up, “You’re not angry with me?”
Ye Baixiao raised his eyes slightly, his gaze falling on Xie Fuyi’s handsome face, his black and white eyes clean and clear. At this moment, he looked slightly nervous, as if he was afraid of his reaction.
The innocent young master has done nothing wrong, has he? He’s just too enticing, which is why those alphas can’t help but covet him.
Ye Baixiao’s gaze was firm yet gentle. “It’s not your fault, and it will never happen again. Once we go back this time, we’ll get married immediately.”
Xie Fuyi instantly glared at him and muttered, “I refuse to marry an Alpha.” He withdrew his foot, lightly kicked Ye Baixiao’s chest, then curled up in the bed, occupying Ye Baixiao’s space. “I’m going to sleep now, get out!”
Ye Baixiao hadn’t planned to share a bed with him anyway, considering they only had an engagement for now, which wouldn’t be good for an omega’s reputation. But with Xie Fuyi rejecting the idea of being with an Alpha like this, he knew there was still a long way to go to change his mind.
“I’ll be outside in the other room. Call me if you need anything.” Ye Baixiao helped him tuck in, then turned off the light and went to rest on the sofa outside.
Xie Fuyi: … Can he endure this? Looks like he needs to wear fewer hats!
With Ye Baixiao’s orders, Xie Fuyi had the freedom to come and go on the starship.
He began to roam around boldly, as he still had to collaborate in mischief behind the scenes and needed to familiarize himself with the terrain first.
On this particular day, Xie Fuyi happened to run into the training ground.
In the training ground was Lu Shiyi, whom he hadn’t seen in the past few days. Lu Shiyi usually appeared gentle and elegant, but now he was only wearing a thin training suit. His movements were neat and agile, his muscle curves smooth, and even when surrounded by four people attacking him at once, he didn’t falter.
Xie Fuyi’s storyline was about being infatuated with Lu Shiyi, this “omega.” He usually revolved around him in daily life, but in recent days, he hadn’t seen him around while wandering. Occasionally, he heard from soldiers that Ye Baixiao had given him heavy tasks these days.
Now that Xie Fuyi saw Lu Shiyi, naturally, he wanted to cheer him on.
He clapped excitedly from the sidelines, “Lu Shiyi, come on!”
Lu Shiyi heard the familiar voice and glanced over, locking eyes with Xie Fuyi’s sparkling gaze. His movements involuntarily gained a bit more force.
The few soldiers who were originally just sparring partners suddenly felt something was off—wasn’t this just a regular training session? Usually, they stopped when necessary, so why did it suddenly feel like they were injected with adrenaline?
Ye Baixiao had originally been in the command room observing everyone’s training, but Xie Fuyi’s sudden appearance and his enthusiastic cheering for Lu Shiyi made him instantly understand why ancient Earth had peacocks displaying their feathers to show off.
He couldn’t stay put anymore and quickly made his way to the training ground where Lu Shiyi was.
“Lieutenant Lu, they’re no match for you. Let me spar with you,” a deep, cold voice rang out. As Ye Baixiao approached, he slowly took off his military jacket and rolled up his sleeves.
The soldiers who were already feeling sore and tired instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
Lu Shiyi’s gaze shifted from Xie Fuyi, who seemed a bit puzzled, to Ye Baixiao, who stood opposite him, slowly focusing. He had just warmed up, his light-colored eyes ambiguous, and he slightly curved his lips. “Sure.”
Ye Baixiao and Lu Shiyi sparred in the training ground, and they fought fiercely!
Xie Fuyi was a bit bewildered—wasn’t something wrong? Weren’t they childhood friends with a good relationship? Why were they fighting like enemies?
They had never fought before, but unexpectedly, they didn’t hold back at all, unlike their usual training sessions.
The soldiers watching on the side had their faces changed. If Ye General’s punch landed, wouldn’t bones break? Turns out, during their usual training, they didn’t even use thirty percent of their strength!
Lu Shiyi soon became drenched in sweat, while Ye Baixiao didn’t even seem to break a sweat.
In this spar, Lu Shiyi naturally lost; he was no match for Ye Baixiao.
However, Ye Baixiao didn’t receive the expected praise and excitement. Instead, he was fiercely glared at by Xie Fuyi. Protecting Lu Shiyi, he looked somewhat displeased, “Did he offend you? Why did you strike so hard?”
“Fu Yi…” Ye Baixiao was taken aback, his icy demeanor showing signs of confusion.
Lu Shiyi leaned against Xie Fuyi’s shoulder, not exerting much force. His tall figure seemed to envelop the other, despite his injuries, and he wore a comforting smile on his lips. “It’s not General Ye’s fault. I simply lack the skill.”
But why does this conversation have a hint of bitterness?
In Xie Fuyi’s eyes, Lu Shiyi was an omega, and being able to perform like this was already impressive.
Ignoring Ye Baixiao’s hesitation, Xie Fuyi helped Lu Shiyi walk out, “I’ll take you to get some medicine.”
Lu Shiyi glanced at Ye Baixiao, who was pursing his lips and standing stiffly, a hint of amusement flashing in his dark eyes.
As Ye Baixiao watched the two of them walk away, he couldn’t help but feel a sourness in his throat. He could conquer the battlefield with ease, but he didn’t know how to make his beloved happy.
However, no one could use petty tricks to take Xie Fuyi away. His gaze turned icy as it landed on Lu Shiyi.
…
Because he upset Xie Fuyi, Ye Baixiao used all sorts of novel and delicate things to coax him for several days before Xie Fuyi was willing to show him a good face.
However, on this day, after Xie Fuyi had breakfast and was about to go watch their training, suddenly, the entire starship shook a few times. Xie Fuyi barely managed to steady himself by holding onto the table.
It’s an attack!
In his mind flashed the plot—this time by a twist of fate, he betrayed Ye Baixiao to the leader of the Star Pirates, Caslow, letting the other take away Lu Shiyi. Lu Shiyi would trigger the sensitive period in this operation!
Ye Baixiao originally asked Xie Fuyi to stay obediently in the room, but how could he possibly listen?
In a hurry, Xie Fuyi rushed out of the door towards the command room.
Halfway there, there was another shake, and Xie Fuyi, unable to stand steadily, was about to fall when he was caught by a strong hand around his waist and pulled into someone’s arms.
With a low, hoarse voice tinged with amusement, the voice whispered in his ear, “Look what I found. There’s actually a beautiful omega hidden in Ye Baixiao’s army? Darling, are you the one he keeps for warming his bed?”
The young master had never received such humiliating words. Instantly, he tried to break free from the man’s embrace, but his slender waist was held firmly, and he couldn’t move. He could only glare fiercely at the man and retort, “You bastard! Ye Baixiao is almost like warming my bed for this young master!”
The tall man with golden hair and blue eyes, handsome and with deep features, was dressed in a long black coat that accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist, his figure tall and lean.
“How intriguing.” Caslow’s blue eyes fell on Xie Fuyi’s pretty face. A faint scent lingered around his nose, and he felt a warmth in his chest. With a wicked smile playing on his lips, he said ambiguously, “Darling, come with me. I’ll keep you warm.”
Xie Fuyi: … Why should he go with him? That’s not how the plot goes!
