Her Enchanting Fragrance
Her Enchanting Fragrance Chapter 25.2

On the other end, Si Hang was driving to the police station when he received the call.

When he answered, he asked directly, “What’s the matter?”

“You asked me last time if I had any emotional entanglements with my ex?” As soon as she spoke, she was slightly stunned, realizing her voice was still hoarse from just waking up.

The man on the other end also felt a sudden jolt.

Her usually soft voice, now a bit husky, had an inexplicable hint of sexiness.

An inappropriate image suddenly flashed through his mind—Zhuang Zi, just waking up, wearing that same nightgown, wrapped in a soft blanket, calling him from his bed at his place.

The car was waiting at a traffic light, and the green light from the opposite side snapped him back to reality.

He started the car and slowly moved forward with the traffic.

On the phone, Zhuang Zi quickly cleared her throat before continuing, “I think there might be something, though I’m not sure if it counts.”

His tone was calm and unhurried, “Tell me about it.”

As Zhuang Zi recalled, she slowly recounted, “There really wasn’t any emotional entanglement between us, but after we broke up, my sister did give him a scolding, and he might have had to quit his job at his previous company because of it.”

Last night, she had a bold guess—could it be that he bore a grudge because of the way her sister offended him that time?

“Why did she scold him?” Si Hang asked, “Because he wronged you?”

Zhuang Zi replied, “He didn’t wrong me, but his behavior was very uncomfortable.”

Si Hang was about to continue asking when his phone beeped with another incoming call. He glanced at the caller ID—it was the director.

The director calling him likely meant it was something important, “I have an important call coming in, we can talk later.”

……

Zhuang Zi thought he would call her back after he finished, but even after she finished breakfast, her phone remained silent.

He must be really busy.

She pondered for a moment and decided to call Xiao Zhao to pick her up and take her to the police station. Additionally, she would ask him to accompany her to Nanxin Community to pick up a few pieces of clothing.

The temperature had dropped suddenly over the past few days, and her phone’s weather app showed heavy snow in a couple of days, so she needed to prepare in advance.

……

Half an hour later, Xiao Zhao arrived downstairs.

Zhuang Zi invited him up for a cup of tea, but Xiao Zhao complained about the strict security at Si Hang’s luxurious riverside residence. Not wanting to deal with the security guards, he told her to get ready and come out; he would wait at the entrance of the community.

Not wanting him to wait too long, Zhuang Zi quickly changed clothes, greeted Sister Qin, and swiftly changed her shoes at the entrance before heading out the door.

……

When Zhuang Zi arrived at the police station, Si Hang was not in his office.

Xiao Zhao asked his colleagues and found out that the provincial leadership had come for an unexpected inspection today, and Si Hang had been called upstairs by the director to meet them.

No wonder he hadn’t called her back all morning.

Zhuang Zi sat on the sofa in the large office for a while, waiting for nearly half an hour, but he still hadn’t come down. She got up and went to the bathroom.

Not knowing how long he would be occupied with the leaders, she decided to head back to Nanxin Community to get some clothes first. As for the matter with He Yue, she would wait until he was free to discuss it; there was no rush.

As she walked to the entrance of the criminal investigation office, she suddenly heard someone calling her from behind.

She paused, thought for a moment while looking ahead, then turned around. However, the next moment, when she saw who it was, she was stunned.

The corridor between the criminal investigation office and the reception room was narrow, with no direct light, only the overhead fluorescent lights casting a cold and silent glow.

The man stood at the end of the corridor outside an interrogation room, wearing a black hooded coat, tall and upright.

The corridor lights were starkly bright, allowing Zhuang Zi to clearly see his features and immediately recognize him.

The once dashing young man in white was now a well-dressed, mature man. What hadn’t changed was his clean and handsome demeanor, just like before.

Six years had passed.

He was not like He Yue; Zhuang Zi still remembered his name. Although she had tried hard to forget him completely, his name, like the shadow in her heart, always lingered painfully.

Lu Yuze.

He had left without a word back then, disappearing completely.

She had thought that separation would be forever, that they would never meet again in this life.

Who would have thought?

The man stood still, not moving.

From the interrogation room behind him, Xie Kui and another officer came out, following the man’s gaze towards Zhuang Zi, then walked towards her.

They passed by her, casting some meaningful glances her way.

Zhuang Zi was unaware, still looking incredulously at the man at the end of the corridor.

They stared at each other across the long hallway, neither moving towards the other.

Xie Kui, curious about the reunion of old lovers, looked back as he walked away, wondering what kind of romantic drama might unfold. At the staircase, he nearly bumped into someone coming down.

Si Hang stopped steadily, frowning at him.

After regaining his balance, Xie Kui glanced at him, then a mischievous expression appeared on his face.

Si Hang gave him a peculiar look, “What’s your problem?”

In the next second, Xie Kui raised his thumb and pointed down the corridor behind him.

Si Hang looked over in confusion and saw Zhuang Zi standing at the entrance of the criminal investigation office, her back to them, staring blankly at another man at the end of the corridor.

At that moment, the man started walking towards Zhuang Zi.

Xie Kui explained, “First love, just finished giving a statement at the police station, and now they’ve run into each other.”

Si Hang glanced at the man, who was quite young. After a brief moment, he remembered who he was.

He had reviewed Lu Yuze’s file last night, and the person himself didn’t look much different from his photo.

After a brief pause, Si Hang withdrew his gaze and looked at Xie Kui with some annoyance, “What does it matter to you if they meet?”

“It doesn’t matter to me,” Xie Kui feigned ignorance, “I’m just curious about what former lovers will say to each other when they reunite.”

Si Hang couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and turned to head into the office.

Xie Kui watched him leave, a mischievous smile on his face, clearly enjoying the situation.

…..

Meanwhile, Zhuang Zi stood frozen, watching the man get closer.

She had never thought she would meet people from her past again, and her mind couldn’t quite process it all at once.

As she was still figuring out how to greet him naturally, a force suddenly pushed her from behind. She stumbled forward a step.

Turning back in confusion, she saw Si Hang standing behind her, looking at her coldly, frowning, “Standing at the door, don’t you know you’re blocking the way?”

Zhuang Zi was momentarily stunned. Realizing her mistake, she quickly stepped aside.

After glancing at the distance between her and the door, she frowned slightly.

There was clearly enough space for two people to pass; she didn’t seem to be blocking the way?

But considering she had been standing by the door and this was a public office, and he was the boss here, it was best not to argue with him.

After two seconds of contemplation, she apologized, “Sorry.”

He gave her a glance, then walked off without a word, hands in his pockets.

Zhuang Zi stood by the door, speechless, watching his back as he walked into the large office.

Two words popped into her mind—weirdo.
