Chapter 18
Honghe Town
Zhang Liang rubbed his fingers nervously and walked back and forth. Hao Han’s eyes hurt as he watched. The welding smoke hit the ox cart directly.
“Can you be quiet for a while? You’re walking around here, it’s annoying. It hurts my eyes.”
“The train arrives in Heihe at 7:30 this morning. It will take more than an hour to get from the city to the town. Only half an hour has passed. Why are you in such a hurry?”
Zhang Liang walked over slowly and sat down next to Hao Han, “Uncle, I’m just nervous.”
Hao Han looked at the scenery in the distance and said, “Why are you so nervous? Everyone has the same attitude. You are the captain, so don’t show your true colors. If the people in the dark find out, you will be in danger.”
Zhang Liang was silent for a moment. After all, he had been a soldier, so he couldn’t be too timid. He just sat there quietly.
Where he couldn’t see, Hao Han rubbed his fingers and wiped the sweat from his palms. This was his master’s only offspring, how could he not be nervous.
He didn’t know how many eyes were watching him in the dark, so he couldn’t act rashly.
As long as he saw that the child was still alive, he would be satisfied. In this world, no one could escape his sight.
An hour and a half later, a truck stopped on the street of Honghe Town. “Hurry up and get off. We have arrived at Honghe Town. The captain is here to pick you up.”
Shao Wenwen was reluctant to come down, but Yang Wenjun reached out and caught her: “Comrade Shao, don’t worry, I can catch you, jump down without worry.”
“Even if I fall down myself, I won’t let you fall down.”
Shao Wenwen saw that no one paid any attention to her and didn’t want to continue to be the focus of others, so she accepted it reluctantly.
In fact, she looked down on Yang Wenjun in her heart. Although his clothes were just a white shirt, they were very old. However, if there were people like him using it, it would be a waste not to use it. She could just give him some bribes.
She had seen many people like this in Kyoto. Not only did she have a good family background, but she was also good-looking, and a set of her clothes could cover a year’s living expenses for others.
Feng Moyan and Si Yinni were the last to come down. Looking at the two suitcases the little girl carried with her, they guessed that her things had also been mailed.
“Let’s go look for the captain of the Red Flag Brigade first. He should be not far away.”
Sure enough, the voices of various villages could be heard amid the noise.
“The Hongshan Brigade is here, gather here…”
“People from the Red Flag Brigade, come and gather here. People from the Red Flag Brigade, is there anyone coming…”
The person who came this time was Zhang Hao’s son Zhang Jiacheng, who is 25 years old and already married. His wife is Hu Lai, and they have a son and a daughter.
His son Zhang Aiguo is 5 years old, nicknamed Fat Tiger, and his daughter Zhang Aihong is 3 years old, nicknamed Niuniu.
He has a dark complexion and a strong body, and it can be seen that he is a capable farmer.
Feng Moyan carried Si Yinni’s luggage in one hand and held her hand with the other, fearing that the girl would be abducted by someone in the next second. How could he have ended up with such a scoundrel?
During the one-hour drive, he wanted to tell her all about his family’s wealth. If she hadn’t covered her mouth, he would have even told her how his father pursued his wife.
She has no interest in gossip.
It can be seen that this is a big family with only one girl like this, otherwise, how could she be so naive? It’s so terrible!
If her parents were still alive, she would probably be very happy.
It’s all those bastards’ fault, otherwise, she could have enjoyed the life with her parents.
“Comrade, we are the educated youth sent to the countryside to work in the Red Flag Brigade. My name is Feng Moyan and her name is Si Yinni. I wonder if they should report here.”
Before Zhang Jiacheng could say anything, he was pushed away by Uncle Liang: “Yes, this is the Red Flag Brigade, you are finally here.”
Zhang Liang lit up the moment he saw Feng Moyan, and he wanted to pull him aside to have a detailed chat, but Hao Han pushed him and said, “Captain, this comrade probably hasn’t picked up his luggage yet, don’t scare him.”
Zhang Liang stood up straight: “I am the captain of the Red Flag Brigade. My name is Zhang Liang. You can just call me Uncle Zhang.”
He glanced back and found that the two of them only had a small amount of luggage, and there was definitely no quilt or bedding in it. He felt a little worried and troubled.
“You didn’t forget to bring your blankets!”
Si Yinni’s face was full of question marks, but she smiled, “Uncle Liang, how could we be so stupid? The luggage has been mailed. I’d like to ask you and this comrade to wait for a while. We need to move our things.”
Feng Moyan turned his gaze to an old man sitting on a ox cart next to him. He seemed not to pay attention to them, but his eyes would glance over from time to time.
“Grandpa, can you please use the bullock cart? We have too much luggage to carry all at once.”
As Feng Moyan spoke, he took out a box of cigarettes and handed it over. Hao Han quickly stuffed it into his arms without any politeness.
“It doesn’t matter. We are all serving the people. Waiting here is just waiting.”
Zhang Liang watched Uncle Hao take the two girls away without asking the people who were about to come over if they wanted to join them.
Zhang Jiacheng was a little puzzled. The 1.85-meter-tall boy lowered his head and looked at Zhang Liang, muttering to himself.
“Uncle, what’s wrong with Grandpa Hao? He’s acting weird today, and so are you. I was just about to ask you why you pushed me out of the way and almost scared the educated youth.
And uncle, you are too enthusiastic today, even when you married my aunt, you were not as enthusiastic as before. “
Zhang Liang’s face darkened, and he scolded: “Don’t talk too much, I was just anxious. As the team leader, I must care about the younger educated youth. The others are older than them.”
Zhang Jiacheng felt strange, but without suspecting anything, he just stood aside and said nothing.
Shao Wenwen carried the luggage, her face was sunburned, and her temper became more and more impatient: “Why don’t you just stand there and help me? I have so much luggage, how can I move it by myself? And there’s your car, you can’t let us walk back!”
Zhang Liang answered nonchalantly, “The car has gone to pick up the luggage. You guys wait here for a while.”
A handsome young man in the crowd walked up to Zhang Jiacheng and handed him a cigarette: “Brother, do you smoke? I brought this from Kyoto. Try it.”
Zhang Jiacheng shook his head and handed it to Zhang Liang, “I don’t smoke, my wife won’t let me, you give it to my uncle!”
“Captain, try it.”
“I am this year’s educated youth. My name is Jiang Yuxuan. I am 20 years old. I came here to experience life in Heilongjiang Province. I heard that there are wild animals in the mountains here. Can I go hunting in the mountains?”
Zhang Liang glanced at the boy. The Jiang family from Kyoto were not simple people. He had received a message a few days ago, asking him to keep a close eye on the other party and not let anything happen.
“There are prey in the mountains, but not everyone can hunt. Otherwise, you might get attacked by a wolf or a wild boar and accidentally lose your life. That’s no joke.”
Jiang Yuxuan grinned, a little heartless: “It’s okay, I learned martial arts from my family when I was young, ordinary animals are fine, I’m just curious about what wild boars look like.”
After a short while, Jiang Yuxuan became familiar with the two of them, as if they had known each other for a long time.
Zhang Jiacheng couldn’t help but admire this young man from Kyoto. He had a lot of tricks in his words and it was very tiring to be tricked by him if you weren’t careful.
