Chapter 103: Extra – My Best Sister
After Lin Hexi was drawn into the so-called company sisterhood, Zhuo Yisi no longer clashed with him as before. Instead, he would occasionally help him out, especially when someone invited him to go shopping or get manicures on the weekend. Knowing that such things didn’t interest him, he would take the initiative to decline on his behalf, as if he wanted to reconcile and let bygones be bygones.
One day during lunch break, Lin Hexi was playing UNO with a few colleagues in the lounge. The loser had to promise to do one thing for the winner.
Lin Hexi had bad luck and lost the first round of the game. As it happened, the winner was Zhuo Yisi.
Most of the people present were art majors, so Zhuo Yisi didn’t make things too difficult for him. He simply requested that Lin Hexi draw a portrait of his favorite idol.
After hesitating for a moment, Lin Hexi agreed.
Last month at home, Lin Hexi had also promised to draw another portrait for You Chong.
However, shortly after making that promise, the end-of-month workload piled up, and the plan was temporarily put on hold.
Two hours later, Zhuo Yisi came to him with a carefully chosen reference image in hand.
Lin Hexi was busy revising a design draft. He glanced briefly at the picture of the handsome young man and said, “Just send it to me directly.”
Zhuo Yisi obediently sent the image to him via WeChat.
Noticing that both his phone’s wallpaper and chat background featured the same man, Lin Hexi casually asked, “Who is it that you’re asking me to draw?”
Zhuo Yisi froze mid-action, looking up in disbelief. “You don’t recognize him?”
Lin Hexi thought for a moment and regretfully asked, “Should I?”
“His ad poster is in the company elevator, and you still don’t recognize him?” Zhuo Yisi squinted in annoyance. “He debuted as the center in a hit talent show, was the leader of the hottest limited boy band WEEK two years ago, and was the most popular member after their debut. You really don’t know who he is?”
Lin Hexi looked uninterested. “What do you like about him?”
Zhuo Yisi launched into an enthusiastic explanation, “He’s handsome, has a great physique, chest muscles, abs, can dance, can sing—all of these—”
Lin Hexi waved his hand to interrupt, “That’s it?”
Zhuo Yisi grinned while holding his phone. “Those things aren’t the most important.”
Lin Hexi followed up, “Then what is the most important?”
“The most important thing is,” Zhuo Yisi paused, his tone shifting to one of unabashed disdain, “he’s nothing like you.”
Lin Hexi looked at him with a face full of confusion.
“No matter how much you try, you just can’t pull it off,” Zhuo Yisi said smugly. “He’s clearly an alpha top.”
Lin Hexi was silent for a moment and then suddenly felt that this response was very typical of Zhuo Yisi.
Recalling what his assistant had said last month, he raised his eyebrow. “So, this is your dream guy?”
To his surprise, Zhuo Yisi shook his head mysteriously, opened his photo album, and pulled out a picture to show him.
The photo was slightly blurry, with an angle that looked like it had been taken secretly. Lin Hexi took the phone but didn’t have time to take a closer look before his assistant suddenly came over to discuss something with him.
Lin Hexi handed the phone back to Zhuo Yisi without looking further and got up to follow the assistant.
After all, he had promised You Chong first, yet here he was drawing someone else for Zhuo Yisi. Lin Hexi couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
Coincidentally, You Chong was abroad for the next few days, so Lin Hexi decided to take the opportunity to finish the drawing of Zhuo Yisi’s idol before You Chong returned.
In recent years, Lin Hexi had rarely picked up a pencil, spending most of his time buried in work. You Chong had once suggested converting the room at the end of the second floor into an art studio, but Lin Hexi had declined.
As he put it, he wasn’t some renowned, professional artist. Back in the day, he could draw just fine in the cramped living room of a tiny rental apartment near the school, so he didn’t see why he needed a special space now.
You Chong didn’t say anything further about it.
While You Chong was abroad, Lin Hexi moved all his drawing supplies into the second-floor study and took over You Chong’s usual work desk.
During their nightly video calls, You Chong noticed that Lin Hexi’s usual background had changed from the living room sofa to the study. He raised an eyebrow in surprise on the screen. “Busy with a lot of work lately?”
Lin Hexi was about to shake his head but glanced down at the drawing paper spread across the desk and changed his mind midway, nodding instead.
You Chong didn’t suspect anything and instead smiled with satisfaction. “You’re still in your three-month probation period. It’s only right to work hard and put in extra hours.”
Lin Hexi mercilessly exposed him: “That’s not what you said when you were at home.”
You Chong wasn’t the least bit annoyed. He even admitted it calmly, “At least this way, you won’t have time to sneak off to gay bars with your colleagues while I’m away.”
“Oh?” Lin Hexi suddenly leaned closer to the phone, propping his chin on his hand as he gazed at You Chong. There was a hint of amusement in his voice. “You’re jealous because I go to gay bars for drinks?”
Seeing Lin Hexi’s face suddenly magnified on the screen, You Chong chuckled, his voice low and laced with teasing intimacy. “Looks like you’re asking for trouble.”
Lin Hexi, thick-skinned as ever, nodded and suddenly went off-script, starting to unbutton his pajama top right in front of the camera.
You Chong’s breath hitched, though his tone remained relatively steady. “Why are you taking off your clothes?”
Ignoring him, Lin Hexi unbuttoned his pajamas all the way, letting the shirt fall open to reveal his chest. Then, with a face full of mock regret, he looked at the person on the screen and
said, “What a shame, you can’t do anything about me right now.”
You Chong’s gaze landed on Lin Hexi’s chest, and he coolly mocked, “With your little swimming pool-level exposure, do you really think that’s enough to get a reaction out of me?”
Unfazed, Lin Hexi leisurely stood up from his chair, bent down toward the camera, and began taking off his pants. In the end, he was left wearing nothing but a pair of briefs. Lowering his gaze, he hooked his finger on the waistband, giving it a light snap, then reached up to pinch his own waist. “How about now?”
You Chong remained in the same seated position, but his breathing had noticeably deepened.
Without letting Lin Hexi notice any change, You Chong deliberately slowed his breathing. His gaze traveled from top to bottom, taking in the scene on the screen. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, and his voice carried a faint rasp that was hard to miss. “Still not enough.”
Though his breathing betrayed nothing, his voice gave him away.
Lin Hexi’s lips curled knowingly, as if he’d figured it out, but he pretended to be oblivious. With deliberate ease, he reached for the last piece of fabric still on his body, as if to remove it.
Halfway through removing the fabric, the scene beneath was already faintly visible. Lin Hexi discreetly observed the subtle changes in You Chong’s expression.
Noticing the way You Chong’s gaze lowered, his composure starting to crack under the growing temptation, Lin Hexi abruptly paused his movements.
The next second, as if nothing had happened, he casually pulled the fabric back up and put it on again. Turning around, he grabbed his pajamas and wrapped himself tightly from head to toe. Then, with a smile brimming with amusement, he looked at the barely-controlled You Chong on the screen and said, half-seriously, half-playfully, “It’s getting late. I should shower and go to bed.”
You Chong didn’t say anything, only gritting his teeth as he forced out two words: “Just wait.”
Then, he ended the video call from his end.
Lin Hexi stared at the now-dark phone screen and laughed for a long time.
After calculating You Chong’s return date, he felt entirely at ease and casually dismissed those two words from his mind.
Unexpectedly, You Chong returned from abroad two days earlier without giving any notice.
The night You Chong arrived home, Lin Hexi was completely unaware. He was in the study room, door closed, fully engrossed in his drawing.
It wasn’t until he heard approaching footsteps outside, accompanied by the sound of the dog barking, that Lin Hexi snapped out of his focus. Realizing that You Chong had likely come home early, he hurriedly tucked the nearly finished drawing into the drawer. As the study door opened, Lin Hexi stood up quickly.
That was all he managed to do—just stand up.
Lin Hexi didn’t even have the chance to turn around before he felt a strong force from behind. In one swift motion, You Chong spun him around and pinned him against the desk in an undeniably suggestive position.
Playing along smoothly, Lin Hexi reached out to wrap his arms around You Chong’s waist, smiling brightly as he asked, “Why did you come back early?”
You Chong chuckled, half-joking as he said, “A surprise inspection, to see if you’ve been working diligently at home.”
Lin Hexi scoffed lightly, teasing him, “More like a surprise inspection to see if I’ve been sneaking off to gay bars with others.”
You Chong pushed him back slightly, grabbed his chin, and followed up with his question, “So, have you been sneaking off to gay bars with others?”
Lin Hexi blinked slowly. “No.”
You Chong’s thumb brushed lightly over his chin, his narrowed eyes unreadable. “Words alone aren’t enough. I need to inspect.”
Lin Hexi leaned back onto the desk behind him, kicked off his slippers, and lifted his legs to wrap them around You Chong’s waist, his tone rising subtly at the end. “And how do you plan to inspect?”
You Chong’s warm palm slipped into the hem of Lin Hexi’s pants, gripping his slender ankle. As he slowly stroked it, he spoke deliberately, emphasizing each word: “I’ll inspect inch by inch.”
Lin Hexi hooked his arms around You Chong’s neck, his fingertips brushing against his Adam’s apple. His voice carried a hint of laughter as he said, “Where do you want to start?”
“Let’s start from where you stopped last time during the video,” You Chong murmured, his tone low and enticing as he lifted Lin Hexi off the desk. “The part you didn’t finish taking off.”
For the next two hours, Lin Hexi was pinned to the large bed in the bedroom, thoroughly “inspected” from every angle.
The inspection process was intense and eventful, and the results were highly satisfactory.
Afterward, noting how late it had gotten, the two took a shower together, climbed into bed, turned off the lights, and went to sleep.
While lying in You Chong’s arms, Lin Hexi couldn’t help but think about the nearly finished drawing. Since tomorrow was the weekend and there was no need to wake up early, he waited until You Chong had fallen asleep. Then, he quietly slipped out of bed, left the bedroom in the dark, and headed to the study to turn on the light and continue working on his drawing.
When You Chong woke up to find his arms empty and Lin Hexi no longer in bed, he got up, pushed the door open, and followed the light coming from the study. What he saw was Lin Hexi quietly working on a drawing in the middle of the night.
Hours earlier, when he had returned home and seen Lin Hexi in the study, You Chong had found it strange that there wasn’t a computer or books on the desk. Now, everything clicked into place.
At the time, there had been more pressing matters to attend to, so You Chong hadn’t brought it up in front of Lin Hexi.
Now, seeing Lin Hexi get up in the middle of the night to draw, his curiosity deepened. Recalling the sudden change in background during their video calls a few days ago, it became clear that Lin Hexi hadn’t been working overtime in the study, but he had been drawing there instead.
What was he drawing? And why didn’t he want him to see it?
You Chong thought for a moment and quickly recalled the promise Lin Hexi had made last month to draw something for him.
A faint smile tugged at his lips as a wave of satisfaction and joy surged in his heart. Without disturbing the person in the study, he quietly returned to the bedroom.
Lin Hexi, after staying up late to finish the drawing, slipped back into bed just as silently. Exhausted, he soon fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, Lin Hexi slept straight through until noon.
After getting himself ready, he headed downstairs for lunch, only to run into You Chong sitting at the dining table with his head lowered in thought.
Lin Hexi walked over to call him, but before he could say anything, he unexpectedly met You Chong’s subtle and unreadable gaze.
Confused, Lin Hexi asked, “What’s wrong?”
You Chong silently withdrew his gaze, saying nothing, though his emotions were a tangled mess.
After waking up that morning, he had gone to the study to find the drawing Lin Hexi had worked on the previous night.
The piece was complete, and the subject was undeniably handsome and sexy, with incredibly lifelike abs and chest muscles. However, the face on the drawing was not his.
You Chong’s face immediately darkened. So, the person Lin Hexi had secretly drawn wasn’t him but some other man, and worse, the man in the drawing wasn’t wearing any clothes.
With a grim expression, he picked up his phone and called his assistant, instructing them to investigate the identity of the man in the drawing.
Sensing his foul mood over the phone, the assistant’s efficiency visibly increased. Before long, they had compiled the information about the man in the drawing into a document and sent it to You Chong’s phone.
After reviewing the document, You Chong had no choice but to draw an absurd conclusion—
The man in the drawing was a celebrity. Lin Hexi was a fanboy, and the person he was obsessing over was a handsome, well-built young male star.
The assistant, aware of Lin Hexi’s existence, as well as his profession and work, sent a voice message on WeChat asking, “Did Mr. Lin draw this?”
You Chong didn’t deny it, still processing the fact that Lin Hexi had been secretly fanboying over a male celebrity behind his back.
Two minutes of silence passed on the assistant’s end before they sent You Chong a link to a Zhihu Q&A post:
【My boyfriend threw away all my idol merchandise. Should I break up with him?】
You Chong’s gaze fell once again on the drawing on the desk, his emotions growing increasingly complex.
The assistant followed up by sending two more Zhihu Q&A links:
【What is it like when your girlfriend is a fan of celebrities?】
【How should one view their girlfriend being a fan of celebrities?】
After a moment of silence, You Chong clicked on them.
The articles mostly consisted of examples of exemplary boyfriends who supported their girlfriends in chasing stars, using the opportunity to strengthen their relationships.
Ten minutes later, You Chong finally decided to accept Lin Hexi’s fanboying. He called his assistant again: “Get two tickets to this celebrity’s upcoming offline event.”
Completely unaware of You Chong’s internal struggle, Lin Hexi delivered the drawing to Zhuo Yisi two days later, only to receive VIP tickets to Zhuo Yisi’s idol’s offline event from You Chong.
It was then that Lin Hexi realized You Chong had seen the drawing, misunderstood it as him being a fanboy, and even planned to accompany him to an event to “chase the star” together.
Although Lin Hexi wasn’t actually a fanboy, it didn’t stop him from being deeply moved. Overwhelmed with emotion, he couldn’t help himself and kissed You Chong directly in the elevator. The kiss made them miss their floor, and in the brief moment they were lost in the kiss, the elevator descended all the way back to the first floor.
As for Zhuo Yisi, he became the ultimate beneficiary of this entire misunderstanding.
The next day at work, Lin Hexi gave the two tickets from You Chong to Zhuo Yisi.
Zhuo Yisi was so excited that the hand holding the tickets trembled slightly. The event tickets had already been resold by scalpers at exorbitant prices, and despite setting five alarms on the day the official website released them, he still hadn’t been able to secure one.
Although thrilled, Zhuo Yisi also understood that his relationship with Lin Hexi wasn’t close enough to warrant such a generous gesture. He quickly calmed down and said, “I have no reason to take free tickets from you.”
Lin Hexi nodded knowingly and said, “I can sell them to you at face value.”
As if worried he might change his mind at any moment, Zhuo Yisi quickly agreed. “Deal.”
Lin Hexi placed the envelope with the tickets on Zhuo Yisi’s desk, then turned around and sat down in his chair, ready to turn on his computer and start work.
Zhuo Yisi called out to him again.
Lin Hexi leaned out from behind his desk and looked at him. “Anything else?”
Zhuo Yisi tilted his chin slightly, cleared his throat, and with a proud and dignified expression, declared, “I, Zhuo Yisi, officially announce that from today onwards, you are my best sister in this company!”
