Hoarding Billions of Supplies, I Sustain the Apocalypse Base
Hoarding Billions of Supplies, I Sustain the Apocalypse Base Chapter 70 (There’s really no chapter 69 in the raws.)

Chapter 70: The Evolution of the Fish! That Fish is Super Fierce!

In an instant, the reservoir was filled with crystal-clear water.

Cool mist rose from the surface, bringing a refreshing dampness to the air. Amidst the moisture was a faint, wild scent of a natural lake.

The moment they saw this, the citizens erupted into cheers.

“The water is here! The water is here!”

“Water! So much water! Oh my god, it’s incredible—so beautiful!”

“I’ve never seen this much water before. I can’t hold back my happiness! This is amazing!”

The elderly fell to their knees at the reservoir’s edge, allowing the cool mist to envelop them, tears of joy shimmering in their eyes.

They never imagined they would live to see water again—real water, vast and abundant.

Something they had only dreamed of.

The younger generation felt their hearts surge with excitement. If just one lake contained this much water, how magnificent must the rivers, lakes, and oceans of the Golden Age have been?

As for the children, they cheered, jumped, and played along the water’s edge.

Even at their young age, they understood the importance of water. Seeing so much of it felt like greedy little food lovers stepping into a fairytale candy house.

One child accidentally slipped and fell into the water.

The water wasn’t too cold yet. The child froze for a moment, feeling the gentle embrace of the liquid around him—cool and ticklish, incredibly comfortable. He couldn’t help but giggle.

Instead of scolding him, the onlookers only smiled warmly.

His parents quickly pulled him out, and a nearby fire-type ability user dried his clothes with a quick burst of heat.

Still, the parents hesitated.

“Did we waste any water?”

The fire ability user reassured them.

“Don’t worry, the reservoir’s sealed storage system captures evaporating water. Nothing goes to waste.”

The parents finally relaxed.

They weren’t worried about their child—children of the apocalypse were tough.

But they couldn’t bear to waste water—the very essence of life.

Other children crowded around, their eyes shining with curiosity.

“What does it feel like to be in the water?”

“Was it fun? Did it feel nice?”

“Does this water taste good?”

Compared to the citizens, the scientists at the base were even more excited.

They immediately began collecting samples.

Natural water from the Golden Age was an invaluable research opportunity into the old world’s ecosystem.

Even Yu Fei’s eyes gleamed with enthusiasm as he practically begged:

“City Lord, please let me study this water!”

“Water from an untouched, natural lake—its research potential is immense!”

“It might contain fish, microorganisms, and aquatic plants from the Golden Age!”

“I must find out if they’ve changed after being transported by the Savior!”

Song Lufeng’s gaze deepened.

He had to admit—Yu Fei’s reasoning made sense.

But he couldn’t agree so easily.

Yu Fei understood his hesitation and suddenly grinned.

“City Lord, I’ll let you implant a quantum bomb and a quantum tracker in my brain. I’ll even make all my research completely transparent to you. If that’s not enough, you can install a control chip in my mind.”

“City Lord, I know you have the ability to do that.”

“As long as you let me study the Savior’s transported materials… Everything except the Savior herself, of course! Anything else, I’ll agree to it all!”

He raised his hands in surrender.

Yu Fei was an extreme evolutionist, a scientist obsessed with progress.

To him, the pinnacle of evolution was both his dream and his faith.

Everything else was insignificant.

So, he was willing to accept any restriction Song Lufeng imposed.

Song Lufeng granted his request.

He took Yu Fei away briefly—then brought him back.

Yu Fei shook his head a bit and smirked.

“City Lord, you’ve made a wise decision.”

Then he shed his external restraint and leapt into the water.

Splash!

He kicked his legs, gulped down some water, then instinctively started swimming.

Everyone stared.

“This guy… is just playing in the water, isn’t he?”

Shu Weng muttered, feeling a strong sense of envy. He wanted to jump in too.

But that would be too extravagant.

It was like using a bottle of 1982 Lafite as bathwater.

He couldn’t bring himself to do it.

“Everyone, get in! This water can heal and strengthen the body… Come bathe in it!”

Yu Fei’s shout was dangerously tempting.

People hesitated.

Then—

Splash!

A massive disturbance rippled through the water.

A colossal shadow emerged.

A ten-meter-long giant grass carp!

But it no longer resembled an ordinary grass carp.

Its golden scales gleamed like steel armor.

Its dorsal fin had grown into two transparent, wing-like structures.

Its powerful body curved in a way that made it seem like it could leap out of the water and take flight at any moment.

Between its teeth was a fishing hook, still attached to a length of fishing line.

With a flick of its head, it wrapped the line around Yu Fei, pulling him in!

Yu Fei let out a crazed, ecstatic laugh.

“Just as I expected! The fish transported by the Savior have evolved!”

“This is proof!”

“This big fish has mutated—it even has abilities!”

Yu Fei eagerly reached out to touch the fishing line—then tried to pet the massive carp.

The fish’s eyes showed an almost human-like expression.

‘What is wrong with this lunatic?’

‘Would eating his brain make me sick?’

It spat Yu Fei aside.

Then, like a king patrolling its domain, it swam through the reservoir—followed by a huge school of fish.

All of them had evolved just like the giant grass carp.

Though their transformations weren’t as advanced, they had still changed.

Yet, they didn’t seem particularly interested in humans.

They simply swam about, minding their own business.

Some of the cheekier ones swiped their tails through the water—

Splash!

Soaking the dumbfounded onlookers.

Everyone: “…”

Song Lufeng, who had been preparing to rescue Yu Fei: “…”

Shu Weng gasped. “Oh my god!”

Lu He glanced at him.

“Take that back—let me say it instead.”

Yu Fei continued taunting the fish.

“Come on! Eat me! I dare you!”

The fish got annoyed and dove underwater.

One fish swam up.

Yu Fei reached out his hand.

“Come on, bite me.”

The fish turned—then slapped him with its tail.

Then it followed the others and disappeared beneath the surface.

The water level continued rising.

Until the reservoir was full.

Even the lotus flowers and reeds from the original lake were transported over.

The scenery became breathtakingly beautiful.

Everyone stared in awe.

Yu Fei was dazed for a few seconds—then suddenly burst out laughing.

“I get it now—I understand the Savior’s ability!”

There’s no chapter 69 in the raw maybe the author was mistakenly put the wrong number in the chapter, the content flow was okay and doesn’t seem like there’s something missing so, I think the author mistakenly put chapter 70 instead of 69, thanks!
