Jiang Ning went downstairs to walk her dog.
After dealing with several criminal gangs and with the security patrols in place, the neighborhood had become much quieter.
Interestingly, despite the police encouraging citizens to report gang activities, none of the many survivors in the community, who disliked the residents of the 18th floor, ever made a report.
The atmosphere was oddly harmonious.
Not only did they avoid provoking the residents of the 18th floor, but they also stayed far away when they saw them. Even when walking her dog, the survivors did not dare to mess with the dog from the 18th floor.
They didn’t even have dog treats; otherwise, they would have tried to bribe the dogs to get in the good side with the powerful residents of the 18th floor.
Some even tried to get the Zhong family to help them make connections, but after what happened to the Zeng and Xu families, Grandma Zhong refused to get involved in these messy affairs.
After the Dragon Slaying Society was taken down, the Xu family moved back from the shelter but didn’t dare to live on the 17th floor anymore and returned to their own house instead.
When the Xu family came to the 17th floor to collect their belongings, Grandma Zhong politely greeted them but didn’t let them come upstairs. Instead, she had her daughter-in-law help carry their things down.
Jiang Ning walked her dog until dusk, then put Coke in her backpack, put on her ice skates, and skated towards the police station.
She originally wanted to drop the letter in the municipal mailbox, but there were too many people, and it was too chaotic, making it easy for the letter to be ignored or disbelieved and casually discarded.
After thinking it over, Jiang Ning decided to send it to the police station.
Firstly, the police had believed her previous tip-off letter, so seeing the familiar handwriting again might make them more likely to believe it. Secondly, if the police forwarded it to the city government, it would likely be taken more seriously.
This was the most she could do.
Taking advantage of the night, Jiang Ning avoided the security patrols and silently approached the police station.
To her surprise, there were officers on duty.
While improved security was a good thing, it made it impossible for Jiang Ning to get close.
After some thought, she released her dog.
The critical moment had arrived: Raise a dog for a thousand days, use it for this moment.
“Go, Coke!”
Following its owner’s command, the dog took the letter in its mouth, ran a few steps, and effortlessly leaped over the two-meter-high wall without making a sound.
Inside the courtyard, it avoided the lights and crawled forward. Seizing the moment when the on-duty officer got up to make some tea, the dog stood up and placed the letter on the desk.
It then leaped back over the wall and into Jiang Ning’s arms.
Jiang Ning rewarded it with a piece of jerky, “Good dog.”
When the officer turned around with his tea, he saw the letter on the desk.
If he hadn’t been a firm non-believer, he might have screamed on the spot. Especially when he opened the envelope and saw the contents, he was instantly creeped out!
After reading it, he laughed. In these apocalyptic times, people were panicking, talking about the end of the world and that everyone was going to die…
He had seen people confess quickly while wearing silver handcuffs. Others, claiming to be mentally unstable, came to the police station talking nonsense, saying they had superpowers and could communicate with gods. They demanded fifty kilograms of grain in offerings, promising that the gods would send a Noah’s Ark on New Year’s Eve to save the devoted ones from the earth.
The police station is already understaffed, and if it is tortured by all the random people and things, it will really drive it crazy.
Letters like tonight’s were all too common.
However, tonight’s letter was more detailed, creating a vivid sense of the situation.
The key question was: how did the letter get delivered?
With poor security, the police station gates were locked from the inside at night.
A nearly three-meter-high wall was impossible for an ordinary person to scale, let alone deliver a letter to the office unnoticed.
In the last days of natural disasters, strange things were commonplace.
The officer shook his head and casually tossed the letter onto the file rack.
Sipping his hot tea for warmth, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, so he took the letter out again for a closer look.
The handwriting seemed… familiar, like I’ve seen it somewhere.
The officer racked his brain for a while before suddenly slapping his head. Wasn’t this the same person who reported on the Dragon Slayer Society?
Chief Ling had previously ordered that this person must be found, he believed that he was a high-ranking member of society. They had thought the informant had slipped away secretly after repeated interrogations yielded no results, only to reappear now, this time as a prophet.
If the contents of the report were true, it would be a disaster for humanity.
The officer couldn’t afford to slack off. He decided to keep the letter and hand it over to Chief Ling first thing in the morning to see how the leadership would handle it!
…
The temperature continued to drop.
Jiang Ning continued to stay indoors, spending her days sleeping in her room, self-studying the unfinished coursework, and exercising with 1801.
Yes, she had forgotten about the embarrassing incidents of the past two days. After all, Huo Yishen didn’t find it embarrassing, so why should she?
The dog was naturally lively and couldn’t stay still in the room.
But it hadn’t expected the trainer to slack off too and actually trained Doudou to be his successor and let her go out to train dogs every day.
The dog was extremely dissatisfied. Who was supposed to be training whom?
Whatever, they trained each other. Without fighting, neither of them felt fulfilled.
One moment, the human trained the dog, the next moment, the dog trained the human. It was really lively.
She slept until she naturally woke up in the morning, then suddenly heard knocks on the door, “Anning, Anning!”
Zhang Chao was extremely anxious. Jiang Ning thought something big had happened and rushed out of her room with disheveled hair, “What’s wrong?”
“Anning, happy birthday!”
Zhang Chao and Lu Yu suddenly burst out, and Zhang Chao aimed the confetti cannon at Jiang Ning, spraying her all over with confetti.
The noise was deafening. Jiang Ning almost pulled out a gun from her space to feed them two peanuts.
Fortunately, she reacted quickly and held back!
They had picked up the confetti cannon from the mall and hadn’t been willing to throw it away, so they used it to celebrate Jiang Ning’s birthday.
Birthday? Jiang Ning was dumbfounded.
It took her a while to remember that her birthday was indeed at the end of the year.
Orphans didn’t like celebrating birthdays. Jiang Ning never remembered this day.
What was there to celebrate on the day she was abandoned?
So, every year it was Zhang Chao and Lu Yu who took the initiative to organize, and Jiang Ning just went along.
She hadn’t expected that even in the apocalypse, she would still celebrate her birthday, and it would still be with Zhang Chao and Lu Yu.
“Anning, happy birthday.”
Zheng Weili came over and handed her a festive card.
It was also picked up from the mall, it played music when opened.
Childish, yes, but the music made it seem like she was still in the previous world, as if the apocalypse hadn’t arrived.
Zhang Chao was used to putting his hand on Jiang Ning’s shoulder, “It’s your birthday today, so whatever you want to eat, just say it, we’ll treat you!”
Lu Yu nodded, “Yes, as long as we have it, you can order anything.”
To have someone celebrate her birthday for her, even in the apocalypse… to say Jiang Ning wasn’t moved would be a lie. After a moment of thought, she said, “Forget it, I’ll treat you guys instead.”
With the limited supplies in 1803, who knew how long they could feed three big eaters. To save food and firewood, they only ate two meals a day, one of which was porridge, with the rice stored in a thermos bottle kept warm under the quilt.
“Looking down on us?” Lu Yu pretended to be angry, “We may not have a lot of supplies, but celebrating your birthday is no problem.”
“Let’s change the rules. From now on, whoever’s birthday it is treats for dinner?” Jiang Ning said in a tone that was unquestionable, “From now on. I won’t treat you to your birthday. “
Ah, could you play like this?
Well, today, the birthday girl had the final say.

So happy that policeman took the tip off letter seriously! Glad author didn’t lower the authorities’ IQ/EQ just to make their MC fake smart like many other novels/comics LOL
