The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies
The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies | Chapter 12: The Tornado Shattered the Skyscrapers

[edited]

Jiang Ning’s breathing became tight, and she quickly picked up the binoculars to observe.

At that moment, in the same spot, tornadoes with similar looks but spinning in opposite directions spin like huge shredders. Wherever they went, they tore up trees, brought down buildings, flung cars into the sky like toys, and even sucked in the raging floodwaters.

The two tornadoes approached quickly and their fast spinning winds felt like a countless sharp saw teeth, crushing everything in their path.

“Ah!” Zheng Weili exclaimed, instinctively covering her mouth.

The two tornadoes clashed violently. They fought and merged forces, slicing through a skyscraper, engulfing it, and then vanishing without a trace.

A skyscraper of over thirty floors disappeared completely in less than a minute.

The merged tornado rampaged once more and it’s behaving like a stubborn child throwing tantrums and smashing everything in its path without regard for the consequences.

In all her years, Jiang Ning had never witnessed a dual tornado before. Their destructive power was more than twice that of a normal tornado, but fortunately, they lasted only half as long.

But in just over ten minutes, they could destroy an entire city.

Jiang Ning didn’t even blink, staring tightly at the vanished skyscraper.

She wasn’t sure if there were dual tornadoes in her past life, but she was sure the skyscraper hadn’t been destroyed. She had even gone there for supplies during the extreme cold, but unfortunately, it had already been looted by survivors and they only leave the devastation and chaos behind.

But now, it’s all destroyed.

Starting over, Jiang Ning’s confidence came from the supplies stocked in space and her accurate predictions of natural disasters. But now, everything had changed.

As the tornado disappeared from their sight, even Zheng Weili, who is usually optimistic and cheerful, couldn’t catch her breath.

Her cold hand grasped Jiang Ning’s tightly. “Anning, is this still a typhoon?”

This world feels so strange, almost as if there’s no chance to return to prosperity before the typhoon hits.

The dual tornadoes not only devoured and demolished the skyscraper, but also ravaged the surrounding area—a mix of commercial and residential areas and the most densely populated section of the city.

Would those people have a chance to survive?

Lu Yu’s expression turned solemn, feeling emotional. “The name of this typhoon, Chopper, seems quite fitting; it truly feels like it’s going to destroy this city.”

He hugged his girlfriend tightly, resting his head on her shoulder. “Don’t be afraid. We were fortunate to escape. Even if we hadn’t, the frightening part isn’t seeing it coming; it’s being taken away without warning.”

Because of his upbringing, Lu Yu had a somewhat negative personality, which was also why he fell in love with Zheng Weili at first sight. She could be beaten black and blue on stage but still come down smiling.

She was like a sunflower, forever warm and sunny.

But now she couldn’t even smile, and Lu Yu felt a bit sorry for her.

In the past few days, tornadoes had become frequent occurrences, and this wasn’t the first time the two of them had witnessed them. Zheng Weili hugged her boyfriend back and asked, “If we were unlucky enough to be hit, would you really be willing to die?”

“It’s not about being willing or not, at least we’d die together.”

Jiang Ning, whose mouth was stuffed with dog food, “…” What did I do wrong?!”

Natural disasters are terrifying enough on their own, but being subjected to public displays of affection is torture.

Zheng Weili, who was boxing and possessed a muscular physique all over, not only had a waist thicker than Lu Yu’s, but even her thighs were more muscular than his. The sight was incredibly conflicting and made Jiang Ning’s eyes burn.

Just as she was about to remind the two to take their affection home, heart wrenching screams came from the opposite building.

Jiang Ning, who lived on the top floor, glanced up to see a woman standing on the rooftop, holding a four or five year old child in one hand and another in her arms.

The woman’s hair was disheveled as she stood in the pouring rain, hysterically shouting, “Chu, you bastard, I’ll never forgive you even in my next life!”

The four or five year old cried loudly, the rain beating down so heavily that even his eyes couldn’t open. He desperately pulled his mother back, “Mommy, Mommy, I’m scared…”

“She…” Zheng Weili was frightened by the scene before her. “Is she going to jump off the building? And with her children!”

She opened the escape window, stuck her head out, and waved and shouted loudly to the opposite building, “Hey, you need to think clearly. The typhoon will pass. You have two children; if you don’t live for them, who will? You can’t be this selfish!”

But her voice was drowned out by the raging rain and wind.

Many people hiding in their homes witnessed this scene at Building 2 and shouted towards the rooftop, hoping the woman would come to her senses.

But the woman ignored them, dragging her children and she jumped off the building…

Someone ran up to the rooftop of Building 2 to try to rescue them, but it was too late. They could only watch helplessly as the mother and her two children fell.

A ‘plop’ echoed as a splash of water soared ten feet high.

The child struggled in the water, “Help, Mommy… Help…”

Lu Yu covered Zheng Weili’s eyes to prevent her from seeing the cruel scene.

The dual tornadoes earlier had instantly claimed countless lives, but since they were too far away to see clearly, the visual impact was nothing compared to what they were seeing now.

Zheng Weili couldn’t understand. Wasn’t it just a typhoon? Why couldn’t they survive?

Even if the mother felt overwhelmed as a parent, her children had their whole lives ahead of them. Did she have the right to take that away?

The water level calmed down, and the typhoon began to roar again.

Lu Yu closed the escape window and led the stunned Zheng Weili back to the living room.

Jiang Ning was unfazed. She had witnessed even bloodier and more brutal scenes in her previous life, and the farther she went, the more ruthless it became. Without a strong willpower, not everyone could survive.

“I know that woman from earlier,” despite being a bit of a freeloader, Lu Yu had seen all sorts of human conditions at the orphanage and evidently had a stronger tolerance than Zheng Weili. “Her husband was cheating on her, not only did he have a child with another woman in secret, but he also took the family’s savings to buy a house and a car for the other woman.”

Just before the typhoon hit, there were some elderly women gossiping downstairs, and he overheard a few things.

The woman, crushed by her husband’s betrayal and the loss of her money. Most probably her husband didn’t return during the typhoon. Even Lu Yu and Zheng Weili were worn out, let alone a woman raising two children alone. Besides natural disasters, there was also the darkness of human nature. She might have felt trapped with no way out and couldn’t bear to see her children suffer, so she sought comfort in this tragic act.

He looked confused, “Will this natural disaster really end?”

He seemed to be asking Jiang Ning, but he was also questioning himself.

After experiencing two disasters in a row and feeling extremely depressed, Lu Yu and Zheng Weili returned to their home next door.

Jiang Ning closed the door, listened to some soothing music, adjusted her mood, and took out a stew of radish and beef brisket, chicken stewed with mushrooms, and garlic fried lettuce.

She found a light hearted comedy to watch to pass the time while eating.

…

The typhoon continues, and the sky is still gloomy even before dawn.

Doudou almost knocked on her door every day, and lately, she was very consistent, always coming after lunch.

“Sister, can I see Xiao Bai and Da Hui?” Today, she had her hair tied up in a bun and smiled at Jiang Ning, tilting her head, and handing her an egg.

The child’s pure and clear smile could heal the worst moods, her dark grape like eyes shining like the brightest stars in the sky.

Doudou liked rabbits and often squatted on the balcony to watch them. She even named the two rabbits.

The balcony was sealed with glass and lined with cardboard in the cage, so the rabbits were still quite clean. Jiang Ning picked it up and let her play on the sofa. “Xiao Bai is pregnant, so you can’t touch her belly.”

Doudou’s eyes sparkled. “Is she going to have babies?”

After getting the answer, she giggled as she held Xiao Bai. “Can I raise the babies?”

Rabbits breed a lot, and some litters can reach over ten. Jiang Ning might not be able to afford to raise them all. “If your brother agrees, I can give you one.”

Hearing that her brother had to agree, her little face instantly fell, her disappointment was too obvious to hide.

From her clothing, it seemed that 1801 was taking good care of her. She wore new clothes every day even when it rained, but Doudou seemed a little afraid of him.

Well, 1801’s features were cold and intimidating, which could be quite frightening for a child.

By chance, Jiang Ning saw bruises on her arms, and she was incredibly surprised.

Not only on her arms, but also on her legs and waist, even her forehead had bruises, which was shocking.

“Doudou, what happened to the injuries on your body?”

“My brother did it.” Doudou lowered her gaze and patted the rabbit.
