The solar panels were taken apart and kept in the storage area. Just as the two were about to head downstairs, they noticed the mushroom clouds spreading like explosions, with countless lightning bolts lighting up the clouds.
Thunderstorm!
And those surging clouds were cumulonimbus clouds.
Lightning, densely packed like centipedes, pierced through the clouds, striking the sea surface directly, resembling a tightly woven net.
Again and again, continuously emitting high-voltage electricity.
This wasn’t some trick of light and shadow caused by technology; it was a real event unfolding before their eyes.
Jiang Ning felt her scalp tingling, her heart freezing, and a suffocating sensation overwhelming her.
They say the sea is like a mother, but now it’s showing its hostility, unleashing such a massive formation. It’s likely more than just a typical storm.
It’s definitely too late to escape.
No matter how fast the four wheels were, they couldn’t possibly be faster than the enraged sea.
What should I do? Jiang Ning’s mind raced.
Suddenly, she thought of something and quickly took it out of the space.
A 3-meter-diameter orange escape pod appeared out of thin air on the rooftop.
Hopefully, they wouldn’t need to use it, but it’s better to be prepared.
Huo Yishen flashed a look of surprise but quickly regained his composure, going downstairs to continue packing. “Doudou, come help dismantle the air conditioner.”
While Doudou was distracted, Jiang Ning kept gathering things from the space: air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, sofas…
Luckily, only essential items were placed; otherwise, who knows how long it would take to pack up?
At a critical moment, Huo Yishen demonstrated the speed of a special police officer, making his movements faster than five Jiang Nings combined.
She had just finished collecting things when he had already stored away all three air conditioners with their outdoor units.
By now, the sunlight had vanished completely, darkness engulfing everything.
After packing up, the three humans and a dog ran up to the rooftop.
Lightning streaked across the sky, pressing it lower and lower, as if invisible hands were pushing it forward rapidly, making the world increasingly oppressive.
No, this wasn’t an illusion; the world was truly closing in.
Jiang Ning picked up her binoculars and stared closely, only to realize after a while that it was waves!
Waves as high as the sky, like a wall sweeping across from the end of the sea.
Tsunami, it’s a tsunami!
The survivors on the beach noticed something strange. First, they were confused, then shocked, then they started shouting and hurried backward.
The crowded people, with screams rising and falling, some turning and running, others knocking down the elderly or children, hesitated to leave their tents, wanting to pack them up and take them along.
People squeezed against each other, colliding in the chaos. Trampling ensued, families became separated, and everyone scrambled to escape like a rushing tide of darkness.
Some fled to higher ground, while others sought refuge in the fishing village, fearing mingling with despair.
But no matter how fast they were, they couldn’t outrun the waves that covered the sky and earth.
In the face of the sweeping tsunami, humanity was as small as ants; no matter how they struggled and resisted, could ants move trees?
The densely packed crowd was instantly swept up by the waves; some didn’t even have time to struggle before being swallowed up.
The tsunami enveloped them, its relentless force advancing without pause.
The pier was no exception; it was adorned with numerous fishing boats of all sizes. Before humanity’s eyes, they stood as steel behemoths, courageously combating the wind and waves at sea. Each return brought abundant harvests, instilling endless hope in humanity.
But in the face of a real natural disaster, they were like paper boats, towering waves of tens of meters crashing over, easily flipping them over.
Yes, overturning everything.
Jiang Ning watched helplessly as the giant fishing boats capsized and sank, vanishing in an instant.
It’s ironic, really. The Tang Group and the Haisheng Base fought fiercely, each vying to assert dominance over this sea area.
But with a single wave spanning the sky, both sides’ hard-won territories were utterly obliterated, washed away with blood and sweat.
The fishing boats vanished, and the salt fields were swept aside.
Everything simply vanished.
“Bang!!!”
The waves roared, heavily crashing against the mountainside.
Even though they were several kilometers away, it seemed like sea spray was splashing on Jiang Ning’s face.
And behind the dozens of meters high waves, even higher waves followed closely…
Huo Yishen’s voice was stern. “Anning!”
Jiang Ning snapped back to reality and quickly opened the escape pod door. “Quick.”
She climbed into the escape pod, and Huo Yishen sat Doudou in the seat, tightly fastening her safety belt. “Doudou, don’t be afraid; sit tight and hold onto the handrail.”
As Jiang Ning turned to close the door, she heard the sound of cars roaring on the mountain road and the frantic footsteps of runners.
The wealthy and their families from the mountain villas were either fleeing in cars or running in a sorry state, rushing madly towards the mountaintop, trying to escape to the highest point to save their lives.
The mountaintop villa Jiang Ning rented was undoubtedly the highest on the mountain.
“Hurry, upstairs.”
“Oh my god, there’s an escape pod!”
“Hurry, they have an escape pod.”
Without time to brake, they crashed into the cars ahead, some even grabbing and pushing the people in front, wanting to squeeze onto the rooftop first.
Dozens or even hundreds of people, who usually soaked in milk baths and drank red wine, wearing suits or dresses, either elegant or beautiful, were now more disheveled than the refugees.
“Damn, who the hell is pulling me?”
“Help, don’t snatch my spot!”
Hair messed up, high heels broken, they scrambled into the courtyard.
Jiang Ning hesitated for a moment and closed the pod door, locking it tightly!
She sat down in her seat and quickly fastened multiple safety belts.
“Coke.”
There wasn’t a designated seat for the dog, so Huo Yishen gave it a command.
The dog jumped onto the trainer’s lap, allowing him to hold it tightly.
The crowd rushed up to the rooftop like fast zombies, scrambling to get on the escape pod, constantly banging on it. The people in front were pushed by those behind, their faces pressed against the glass door, looking fierce and terrifying.
Some didn’t even have time to speak before they were dragged out by those behind them.
The pod door wasn’t big, and everyone knew there were few seats inside, so they had to fight with all their might for a chance to survive.
“Open the door; I have money, gold, silver, jade, and gems; houses and cars are fine; just give me a seat.”
A woman behind rushed forward and fought with a man. “Bastard, what about my daughter and me?”
The man kicked her away. He was fighting for his own life; how could he have the ability to take care of his wife and children? He shouted anxiously inside, “I have food; I’ll give you 5,000 kilograms, no, 50,000 kilograms, open the door quickly to save yourselves.”
Before he could finish his sentence, he was dragged and thrown out by those behind him. A man in security uniform rushed over and said, “Miss Jiang, I’m Lao Luo; please, please give me a seat; I can’t die; I have an eighty-year-old mother at home and a baby to feed; I really can’t die!”
The escape pod door had triple-layered glass and soundproofing, but they could still hear clearly.
Lao Luo wasn’t a bad person, but he was too practical, and sometimes he spoke without thinking.
The security guards in the apocalypse were different from before the disaster. They felt they were guarding the safety of the wealthy, and their words and actions carried a sense of superiority. Especially when some wealthy people would give them benefits privately, making it easier for them to come and go or gather information.
Being provided for by the wealthy, they soon developed other ideas, flattering those who gave them benefits and making things difficult for those who didn’t, either by implying or acting on them.
Jiang Ning had been hinted at before when she provided the cigarettes.
