The car window rolled down, and the remaining man was shot in the thigh by Huo Yishen, and he fell to the ground. 

The marauder smashed through the wall as if it were made of tofu. 

Jiang Ning demolished all the barricades before stopping the car. 

Getting out, she walked coldly towards the injured man, her eyes full of murderous intent. 

You want to eat dog meat stew, huh? You also want to take Doudou to see big birds? You even dared to throw a bomb on the 18th floor, which almost blew us to pieces. Was that thrilling and fun for you? 

Setting up obstacles, extorting tolls, and treating other people’s lives like dirt. 

Jiang Ning had the urge to chop him up, but she held back, thinking about the task ahead. 

She raised her foot and stepped on the bald man’s head, her face full of arrogance and sarcasm. “With this little ability, you dare to come out and embarrass yourself? I’m really embarrassed for you! 

Go back and tell your boss to get lost while he still can. If he dares to mess with our Leilong base again, we’ll take his head and use it as a piss pot. 

I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll spare your pathetic life. Get lost! ” 

The bald man looked pained and furious but didn’t dare say a word. He limped away with a bleeding thigh. 

Back in the car, Huo Yishen handed a bottle of cold water to Jiang Ning. 

Jiang Ning took a few sips, and the irritability and anger in her heart gradually cooled down. 

She drove into the deserted mountains, removed her makeup, and changed into clean clothes. 

Switching to a Hummer, they headed for the Qinggang base. 

Jiang Ning advised the dog, “Coke, we’re going to stay at the base for a few days. Be strong when you need to be, but don’t show off too much.” 

The dog tilted its head, seemingly pondering its owner’s words. 

Huo Yishen was gentler. “Doudou, don’t be afraid. Brother will protect you.” 

Saying she wasn’t afraid would be a lie, but knowing she was with her brother, sister, and Coke made Doudou feel less anxious. 

Jiang Ning noticed that, since the stabbing incident, Doudou had matured a lot. Coupled with Huo Yishen’s rigorous training over the past two years, her combat skills were decent. But she had experienced too little cruelty, and she was easily deceived when she met an experienced person. 

Doudou, knowing the danger, showed determination in her eyes. “I’m not afraid.” 

When the bomb exploded, her ears buzzed, and her mind went blank. 

The endless waiting reminded her of her parents’ departure, when they smiled and said, “Doudou, wait at home. Mommy and Daddy will be back soon.” 

But they never returned. 

She was so scared her brother, sister, and Coke wouldn’t come back either. 

No matter how dangerous, she didn’t want to be separated from them. 

The Qinggang base wasn’t far, only about thirty miles from the checkpoint, located in a village at the foot of a mountain. 

Row after row of houses indicated that they once belonged to the villagers. 

Jiang Ning didn’t want to think about where the villagers had gone. 

The village was surrounded by concrete walls, and the entrance had a guard post. The Hummer was stopped from a distance, and Jiang Ning and her group were surrounded. “What are you here for?” 

Huo Yishen lowered the window and said coldly, “From the 18th floor of Jinrong Community, we are invited by your boss.” 

The 18th floor was apparently infamous and on Qinggang Base’s death list. Everyone’s eyes turned towards them, filled with anger, disdain, contempt, and even shock. 

Someone asked, “Where are our people?” 

Huo Yishen didn’t bother with excuses. “We got here unscathed. You tell me where they are.” 

His attitude was so arrogant that the tattooed men surrounded them. 

Huo Yishen remained unfazed. “Your boss invited us with such sincerity. Now that we’re here, is this how you treat guests?” 

At that moment, someone walked over. 

It happened to be the man who led the van that day. He recognized Huo Yishen, and his face showed a hint of complexity. Then he chuckled, “Oh, you finally decided to come? I thought you guys were too stubborn; I didn’t expect you to agree so quickly.” 

Huo Yishen seemed to not understand his sarcasm and replied calmly, “We’ve come to our senses. We really want to join this warm, big family of yours.” 

The man choked for a moment, forced a smile, and said, “That’s right, it’s best not to be too stubborn. You wait here; I’ll go ask the boss for instructions.” 

As he turned around, a cold smile played at the corner of his mouth as he muttered, “Just that? And they’re from the 18th floor? Still a bunch of cowards afraid of death.” 

Unfortunately, Jiang Ning heard every word clearly. 

Good, it was he who arranged last night. 

It was normal to assert dominance upon entering. They waited for a whole hour before the bald man arrived late. “The boss has requested your presence. But we have a rule in our base: outsiders can’t bring weapons in. You’ll have to get out of the car and undergo inspection.” 

The three people and the dog got out of the car, and the Hummer was roughly searched. 

The man signaled to his lackeys. 

One of them stepped forward. “You also need to be inspected.” 

It was scorching hot, and they were even wearing short sleeves. What kind of weapons could they hide? They are clearly just being difficult. 

The tattooed man approached Jiang Ning, his eyes full of malicious intent. “You, I’ll search for you.” 

As he spoke, his hand reached towards her chest. 

Jiang Ning’s eyes narrowed, and she delivered a heavy kick to his most vulnerable spot. 

Before the lackey could even scream, she swiftly immobilized his throat. 

Others crowded around and aimed their weapons at her. “You’re quite bold. You even dared to be so arrogant on our turf.” 

“It’s said that a dog’s behavior reflects its owner. Don’t forget your boss invited us to join.” 

Staring at this bunch of scoundrels, Jiang Ning was not afraid at all. “Do you know why he invited us? You are waving your sword in front of Guan Gong; did you forget to consider your own strength? Are you disrespecting us, or just embarrassing your boss?” 

“How dare you! You’ve got some nerve. You wiped out two of our groups, and yet you still dare to be so arrogant!” the man shouted angrily. “Do you really think we’re powerless, toothless tigers? Don’t be shameless!” 

Huo Yishen spoke up: “We can leave. Whether you can keep us here is up to you.” 

The situation instantly became uncontrollable, and the dog showed its teeth and was ready to charge. 

“Yang Laowu.” 

A loud voice rang out, and a middle-aged man walked over. “The boss has asked you to bring the guests in. Why haven’t you done so yet?” 

The man was annoyed and had to stop his actions. “I’ll do it right away.” 

The standoff ended, and the middle-aged man approached, smiling. “Mr. Huo, right? I’m Qiao Laosan, the third in command of Qinggang Base. It’s an honor to have you here. The boss has been eagerly waiting. It’s the fault of the subordinates for not being sensible, and they cause you trouble. Please come inside quickly.” 

With the third-in-command’s order, no one dared to search them anymore. 

The gate opened, and the Hummer drove into the base. 

Most of the houses were built along the road, showing signs of repair after the flood. 

A few minutes later, the car stopped in front of a spacious three-story villa. It seemed to belong to a local tycoon, occupying about four to five acres of land. The front courtyard was very elegant, while the backyard was spacious enough for horseback riding. 

Several armed members stood at the entrance, resembling the bodyguards from before the disaster. 

Huo Yishen remained calm, but he seemed to be thinking about something…
