Huo Yishen now had a nail gun in his hand and a modified one.
The motorboat deflated at a speed visible to the naked eye. The tattooed men screamed in fright, and several of them lost their balance and fell into the water.
The current was strong, and two of them were quickly swept away.
Others swam towards Jiang Ning. She picked up a wooden stick and hit them on the head.
“Ah, you stinky woman. Do you want to die?” one of them yelled.
“Help, I can’t swim…”
Huo Yishen not only shot at the motorboat but also aimed at the tattooed men without hesitation. They wailed in pain as the deflating boat sank into the water, and everyone fell into the flood.
Jiang Ning played like a game of whack-a-mole, cracking their heads open without mercy.
These scums were everywhere, destroying humanity with their looting and killing. Now, by beating them to death, who knows how many people would gain a chance to survive.
In the chaos, the wooden stick was grabbed, and a bald, fierce looking man swam over, wanting to tear her apart.
Jiang Ning forcefully pulled him over and, without hesitation, swung the sharp knife at him.
With a scream, blood gushed out, and the man, loosening his grip due to the intense pain, was instantly swept away by the flood.
Lu Yu was completely shocked, and his body was as stiff as a sculpture.
He knew Jiang Ning could fight, and even he and Zhang Chao together couldn’t beat her. But he didn’t expect her to be so ruthless, she chops off their heads like chopping watermelons.
The tattooed men disappeared completely in the flood, and the whole world was filled with rain and everything was wash clean.
After a brief rest, Huo Yishen continued to dive into the water.
One person carried, two people lifted. They cooperated vigorously in the pouring rain and flood.
Luck was on their side, as they found a total of 12 liquefied gas bottles. If divided equally, they could last a long time.
To their surprise, 1801 also found a three double burner gas stoves at the liquefaction station.
They might not work after being soaked for so long, but they would deal with that later.
The liquefied gas bottles were not small in size, and the motorboat could barely hold them. However, they would easily fall into the water with the slightest movement.
Jiang Ning took out a rubber boat from the large backpack, inflated it, and securely tied it to the motorboat. They transferred half of the liquefied gas bottles over and secured them with ropes.
Exhausted, she took out six chocolate bars and gave them to the others to replenish their energy.
Once they had recovered their strength, they drove back in the motorboat.
Huo Yishen and Lu Yu were in the front, while Jiang Ning sat in the rubber boat.
Although, it might have been difficult to retrieve the liquefied bottles, but it was even harder to safely transport them back. With so many, it was natural to attract attention.
They were prepared for anything. On the way, they encountered others searching for supplies. When they saw them carrying so many liquefied gas bottles, their eyes lit up with envy.
Unfortunately, they only had a rubber boat, so they couldn’t catch up even if they tried their best.
They almost collided with a dragon boat in the urban area which was carrying twenty men on board. Fortunately, Jiang Ning had been vigilant and used her binoculars to observe the surroundings, prompting 1801 to detour in time.
Successfully back at the Jinrong community, 1801 didn’t slow down. They directly accelerated and drifted, skillfully stopping at the apartment building.
Lu Yu, who had been thrown into the water, muttered to himself, “Help me, wife!”
At the window, Zheng Weili was already waiting.
The four of them quickly and deftly moved the liquefied gas bottles into the building. Some residents heard the noise and opened their doors to see, but faced with the residents of the 18th floor who were like grim reapers, though envious, no one dared to have any crooked ideas.
As they were moving upstairs, they bumped into an elderly lady. “Young lady, where did you get these liquefied gas bottles from?”
“We salvaged them from underwater,” Jiang Ning replied without hiding anything. “If you have the means, you can try salvaging some too.”
It would be best if everyone went out and salvaged more instead of just coveting what the 18th floor had.
After four trips, they finally moved everything.
Zheng Weili pulled Jiang Ning into the house. “Listening to Lu Yu, all of these were salvaged by Huo Yishen, and he even provided the motorboat and gasoline. How should we distribute them?”
“Equally.”
“But won’t he lose out too much?”
“If he proposes to take more, then give him more, but we won’t cooperate in the future.”
Jiang Ning’s attitude was decisive, not because she was stingy, but because there was no absolute fairness in teamwork.
If someone voluntarily asked for more, it would only feed their appetite, and they wouldn’t be grateful. Instead, they would feel entitled.
Once there were calculations in the mind, dissatisfaction and greed would breed.
Jiang Ning knew what she was thinking. “Don’t think Lu Yu didn’t contribute much. Think about how you take care of the children and the house, ensuring our home is not taken by others. This job isn’t easy either, and your contributions are no less than anyone else’s.”
Zheng Weili came back to her senses. “You’re still so considerate. I almost got confused.”
When they came out, Jiang Ning looked at 1801. “How should we divide these?”
Huo Yishen glanced at her. “Split evenly among the three families. What do you think?”
Zheng Weili and Lu Yu had no objections, so each family received four bottles of liquefied gas. With this, they wouldn’t have to worry about running out for a year.
Doudou woke up and ran barefoot out of 1803, leaping into Huo Yishen’s arms with excitement. “Brother.”
His clothes were still wet. Huo Yishen took a step back and patted her head. “Are you being good?”
“Good.” Doudou looked up at him, her eyes sparkling. “I listened to Sister Li’s words.”
After speaking, she threw herself onto Jiang Ning. “Sister, I want to see the bunny.”
Jiang Ning smiled and opened the door to let her in.
After changing into dry clothes and drinking red date ginger tea to warm up, Jiang Ning lay down on the sofa to rest.
Around dusk, He Zhian knocked on the stairwell door, returning the boat with a smile. “Thanks to Miss Jiang’s reminder, we went in time and actually found several boats.”
Jiang Ning ignored him and lowered her head to check the rubber boat.
Seeing her silence, He Zhian smiled awkwardly. “I heard you salvaged quite a few gas cylinders. I wonder where you salvaged them from?”
“In the water.”
“Which water area?”
“The liquefaction station.”
He Zhian smiled and asked, “Are there any more?”
Jiang Ning glanced at him. “Why don’t you just ask me to give you a bottle?”
“Look Miss Jiang. I’m just asking.” He pushed his glasses up. “Anyway, thank you. If you have any trouble in the future, feel free to come to us.”
“As long as you don’t cause trouble, everything’s fine.”
Feeling that there were too many incidents downstairs and also concerned about Zheng Weili’s safety, Jiang Ning knocked on the door of 1801. “I have a stainless steel door, do you want to install it too?”
Huo Yishen had no objections. A few people quickly set it up.
After closing the curtains and turning on the solar lights, Jiang Ning took out salt and pepper prawns, grilled skewers, fried rice noodles and beer to treat her stomach.
Leaving a gas cylinder in the kitchen for appearance’s sake, she would use a portable power bank when cooking. Other resources could be saved for later when conditions didn’t permit.
She had deliberately tried it out; all the power banks could be fast charged in the space, which was really awesome.
She continued to sort and organize the goods she had scanned from the supermarket until late at night before turning off the lights and taking a rest.
Today was indeed tiring, but quite fulfilling.
The space wasn’t lacking in supplies, but she needed to improve herself and increase her survival experience in order to survive in even harsher natural disasters.
The next day, it became lively outside.
There were noticeably more motorboats and rubber boats on the streets than yesterday.
Whether it was because they had tasted success or because of survival, many people came out to cause trouble. Without the internet and surveillance, the darkest side of their humanity was completely unleashed.
There were all kinds of noises, crying and howling, seemed to be mixed with gunshots.
Gunshots?
Jiang Ning perked up her ears, and indeed, she hadn’t misheard.
Returning residents were discussing, “Someone was killed, the soldiers killed someone.”
