The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies
The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies | Chapter 313: Who Approves, Who Opposes?

“What is there to look for? There’s not even a bone fragment left!”

If it weren’t for the doctor’s diagnosis that my cousin had paranoid delusions, he would have almost been beaten to death by my aunt.

My aunt emerged from a chaotic era, where opportunities were abundant, and grew into a successful businesswoman despite tough times. Though she initially focused on her career and neglected her family, my cousin proved to be ambitious, possessing remarkable business talent.

She retired early, handing the business over to her son, and began to enjoy a life of leisure and travel.

Her son didn’t disappoint, taking the company to new heights, until he fell for a woman, and everything went downhill.

Even though she had been dead for years, he couldn’t move on. He even fell victim to a conman who pretended to be a bodyguard and tricked him with a fake letter.

Third Young Master Rong tried to persuade him but failed.

Worried about his cousin’s safety, he followed him out of desperation.

He thought that with the Rong family’s reputation in Fengchen and police stationed at their home, unless the thugs were extremely reckless, they had to show some respect to the Rong family.

Looking back, he wondered where he found that confidence.

Once kidnapped, the entire city knew.

When the furious aunt learned that the trouble was due to my cousin, she showed no mercy, slapped him a dozen times, and ordered him to be locked up.

She declared that if he tried to run again, his legs would be broken!

Jiang Ning was shocked, never expecting that even a domineering CEO would have such a day, and only a powerful mother could handle him!

“Does he really have paranoid delusions?”

“Who knows, but he’s being forced to take medication.”

Third Young Master Rong felt incredibly unlucky to have a mentally ill cousin. Thankfully, his aunt took the responsibility and insisted on getting another plane to compensate the old man; otherwise, he wouldn’t have survived.

Jiang Ning, out of politeness, offered some comfort before asking Ah Ben to drag the ‘mummy’ away, not wanting to see him.

Despite his anger, the old master, being the biological father, didn’t beat his son to death. He hit just hard enough to make a point.

After ten days or so, the second generation was lively again.

This time, the embarrassment was huge, and Third Young Master Rong became much more low-key.

After resting enough, Jiang Ning resumed her duties. Each family had three members on patrol, each doing four-hour shifts, and then resting at home.

Other families became envious and started doing the same thing.

Any child who dared to refuse would either be slapped or kicked out to survive outside the villa area.

The harsh environment made family ties even more fragile. They gradually lost their polite manners, revealing their impatience with each other.

Even the old master Rong didn’t hesitate to beat his son, so why would they?

As a result, scenes of fathers and sons facing harsh realities became common in the villa area. Formerly well-dressed rich men now chased their disheveled heirs with brooms while wearing slippers.

Jiang Ning just watched and enjoyed the show.

While patrolling with a flashlight, she paused while contemplating about the quiet villa.

She remembered Villa 25. When the security team was wiped out during the Eternal Night, the house had remained vacant ever since.

The house was of impeccable quality, decorated with the best materials.

Leaving it empty felt like a waste.

Third Young Master Rong still held the title of the owners committee chairman. Jiang Ning found him in the wind-sheltered guard post.

“Six villas in the community are empty. Any thoughts?” she asked.

Third Young Master Rong instantly became wary. “What are you up to now?”

Wasn’t one villa enough for her? Did she want to switch houses daily?

His attitude had cooled since being hurt by his sister.

Jiang Ning suggested, “The houses are empty anyway. Why not rent or sell them?”

Third Young Master Rong almost choked. She really dared to think big!

The ownership of the houses belonged to the owners. If they died without heirs, by regulation, the properties would be reclaimed by the authorities.

It’s just that the Eternal Night has been too chaotic, leaving the authorities overwhelmed. They focus all their efforts on maintaining public order. Who has the time to pay attention to vacant properties?

Moreover, Fengchen is overcrowded. No community or commercial building would be foolish enough to report vacant properties. Whoever finds an empty house first, occupies it.

Jiang Ning wasn’t joking. Zhang Chao and Lu Yu had supplies, but their living conditions were cramped. Which makes it impossible to even eat meat openly.

This situation couldn’t continue; perhaps there was a better solution.

“Don’t refuse so hastily,” Jiang Ning advised. “With security guards abandoning their posts and bodyguards betraying trust, many families have let go of their servants and bodyguards out of fear. Now, all that’s left are people who’ve never done any hard work. Can we really expect them to defend the community?”

Eternal Night is dangerous. Even if the servants and bodyguards mean no harm, they don’t own the property or supplies. When the looters return, will they risk their lives for their employers? They would flee as quickly as rabbits.

We need fresh blood. If they have a place to stay and treat this place as their home, they’ll defend it to the death when danger arises.”

Third Young Master Rong stared at her. His sister wasn’t one to suffer losses.

She used to be indifferent towards him, but now she was talking endlessly. Did the sun rise in the west, or had she received some benefit?

He was suspicious. “Who do you want to give the houses to?”

“Your Ah Ben is practically living at my place. Who do you think I’m finding houses for?”

Third Young Master Rong didn’t pretend. “Those four people?”

“Yes, they have a life-and-death bond with my family and years of experience as security patrol officers. One of them is even a former Sanda champion. Each of them could easily take down your bodyguards.”

No need for her to elaborate; the old man had sent people to investigate. Their skills were indeed impressive.

However, he felt uncomfortable. He had given his all, yet his sister remained indifferent towards him but treated others so well. Hmph!

But Jiang Ning wasn’t wrong. Besides his own house and Building 50, the rest were useless.

If something really happened, they’d be lucky if they didn’t drag everyone down, let alone help.

Eternal Night had only been around for a short time, but every household was on the verge of collapse. Fresh blood was needed, but it had to be trustworthy.

“Sis, you won’t set me up, right?”

Jiang Ning rolled her eyes. “What are you talking about? Would I bring wolves into my home?”

Third Young Master Rong hesitated. “I can’t make this decision. The old man has to approve.”

He had been beaten enough and didn’t want to end up like his cousin, locked up and forced to take medication.

However, he was loyal. “I’ll ask him for you.”

After her patrol, Jiang Ning mentioned her plan to Huo Yishen.

Third Young Master Rong indeed discussed it with Old Master Rong.

Old Master Rong understood. Building 50 had to have strong backing to be able to wipe out the black forces and rescue his son.

Agreeing was a must. Recruiting skilled newcomers was beneficial for the community’s long-term development and showed respect to Building 50.

But he saw the bigger picture. This needed to be done properly to avoid giving the impression that the Rong family was dictatorial. So, he had his dim-witted son call a homeowner’s meeting to discuss it openly.

The vacant villas could be rented out, but there needed to be interviews and guarantors. The proceeds would be shared among the homeowners.

Third Young Master Rong, eager to please his sister, delivered a passionate speech at the meeting.

“Everyone, empty villas are eerie, and we’re all exhausted from daily patrols. Recruiting new skilled tenants can reduce our patrol burden. We could then work in shifts and even generate unexpected income. This is a good thing for all of us.”

After his speech, Third Young Master Rong faced the crowd with a smile. “Who approves, who opposes?”
