Jiang Ning went specifically to the Chinese Medicine Research Institute. Ma Guangnian and the others had been working hard, and fortunately, the glass planting shed was still intact.
The planting shed, built by official professional and had a clever structural design that successfully withstood the acid rain attacks. The herbs inside were well protected.
After not seeing them for more than half a year, the respectful Jiang Ning brought gifts for everyone: tea for Professor Li, sugar for Ma Guangnian, cigarettes for Lao Hu, along with rice and cured meat.
She didn’t dare to give too much and kept everything within reasonable limits.
Lao Hu seemed much more cheerful, though Jiang Ning didn’t dare ask if he had moved past the shadow of his young wife. However, according to Rong Sanshao, his young wife seemed to be pregnant.
She was tied down and wouldn’t harm others anymore.
Seeing that everyone was in good condition, Jiang Ning returned to Fengcheng with peace of mind.
It’s true that natural disasters had escalated, but the authorities believed in the prophecy and made many preparations. They hoped that when the tectonic collision day arrived, they could lead more survivors to live through it.
People like Professor Li and Teacher Ma were to be protected by the authorities, so there was no need for her to worry.
With the end of the acid rain, many residents began repairing their villas and were hoping to make them sturdier for the next disaster.
Spit, spit, spit, they’re hoping there won’t be a next disaster!
After drinking some wine in the evening, she slept especially soundly.
“Bang!”
It felt like the ground was being pounded hard, and the steady bed shook.
Jiang Ning’s ears buzzed, and she sat up in fright.
What the hell? The acid rain had just ended a few days ago, and now the tectonic collision was coming?
There were still nearly two years left!
Huo Yishen also woke up and quickly turned on the light.
They exchanged a glance and got up to dress quickly.
Doudou was also awakened. She swiftly put on her clothes and strapped on the earthquake rescue pack.
As the three ran downstairs, Jiang Ning was about to release the life pod in the yard when Coke suddenly barked urgently toward the Rong family’s villa, then ran to scratch the door.
Huo Yishen listened intently, “It’s Ah Ben barking.”
The sound seemed like a cry for help.
Jiang Ning calmed down and didn’t feel the ground shaking anymore.
Huo Yishen opened the door and used his binoculars to observe, “Something seems wrong at the Rong family.”
Many residents were awakened by the loud noise and looked around. Those near the Rong villa turned on their lights and started shouting, “Quick, help, the house collapsed!”
The house collapsed?
Jiang Ning was surprised. The construction materials used by the richest family were top-notch, so how could the house collapse?
The walkie-talkie crackled with Rong Sanshao’s almost desperate voice, “Sister, my dad is injured, quickly help me save him!”
“What happened?” Jiang Ning asked calmly, “Where is Mr. Rong injured?”
Rong Sanshao didn’t know. The house mysteriously collapsed halfway; the old man was scared, fell, and injured his forehead, while his cousin’s family remained trapped under the rubble.
“Don’t panic, move the old man to a safe place without shaking him.”
It was a false alarm. The earlier tremor was not due to tectonic movement but something unknown that caused the Rong house to collapse.
Considering that half of the space assets were related to the Rong family and the care they had shown to Building 50 over the years, Jiang Ning decided to go and investigate.
She placed the life pod on the ground floor and had the two stay inside.
Huo Yishen instructed, “Doudou, fasten your seatbelt and take care of Coke. Even if the sky falls, don’t come out. Anning and I will check on the Rong family and return later.”
Doudou was worried, “Brother, sister-in-law, be careful.”
They didn’t delay and hurried over to the Rong family.
In the dark, Jiang Ning took surgical instruments and medicines from her space and stuffed them into her backpack.
Many owners walked out of their villas and were shocked to see the Rong family’s magnificent villa with its collapsed annex building.
Damn, who had the guts to target the Rong family? Did they use a rocket launcher?
After the initial shock, everyone rushed to help with the rescue.
When Jiang Ning arrived, the Rong household was in chaos. Rong Sanshao was holding the injured Mr. Rong on the living room sofa.
Mr. Rong had hit his head, and blood was flowing profusely, soaking Rong Sanshao’s clothes.
Several children were crying in fear nearby, and the frustrated Rong Sanshao yelled at his nieces and nephews, “Why are you crying? Shut up! You’re driving me crazy!”
His shout silenced even Mrs. Rong.
Jiang Ning walked over, “Prepare a clean room and help Mr. Rong inside.”
She also requested that all the Rong family’s medicines and instruments to be brought out.
With the prolonged disaster, they had to use whatever was available.
Before Jiang Ning and Huo Yishen arrived, Rong Sanshao had already instructed people to prepare, and they quickly helped Mr. Rong inside.
Jiang Ning was slightly surprised, not expecting the spoiled second-generation heir to remain calm in a crisis.
Just as she was about to enter, a woman in her thirties grabbed her arm. “My son’s arm is dislocated. Can you help?”
This was the second daughter-in-law of the Rong family. She was holding her crying son tightly and the child’s arm hanging limply.
Jiang Ning said tactfully, “Please wait a moment.” Dislocation is painful, but it’s less urgent to address than external injuries.
However, the woman held onto Jiang Ning’s sleeve, her eyes filled with impatience and urgency.
Rong Sanshao’s eyes swept over, and he felt like he was going to kill someone.
The second daughter-in-law, feeling guilty, subconsciously let go.
Jiang Ning entered the treatment room, with Huo Yishen assisting her.
It must be said that the Rong family is well-stocked, with half of the room filled.
Surgical gowns, masks, surgical instruments, emergency medicines, Western medicines, and Chinese herbal medicines were all plentiful and well-preserved.
Jiang Ning searched for medical supplies. Some of the medicines were brand new. Judging from the packaging, they were produced by official sources or bases, showcasing their extensive network.
With no shortage of medical supplies, Jiang Ning began treating Mr. Rong’s external injuries.
After two years of honing her skills at the research institute, she was now much more confident in her medical abilities and handled everything methodically.
Rong Sanshao didn’t stay but returned to the collapse site to direct the rescue efforts.
Many residents came to help, including Qin Chuan, Zhang Chao, and others. They moved bricks, rubble, and broken glass in the dark, “Everyone be careful, watch your step.”
As time passed, one injured person after another was pulled out.
Jiang Ning prioritized her treatment based on the severity of the injuries, regardless of status.
Among the injured were servants, bodyguards, and even the mother of the tyrant CEO, who had a deep cut on her face.
Despite her injuries, she limped around the site, refusing to leave. She was so anxious that her voice was hoarse, “Please help me, my son is still inside…”
The tyrant CEO’s son cried hysterically, blood and tears mingling and streaming down his face, “Daddy, Mommy…”
Jiang Ning hadn’t rested for several hours. Her waist, back, and legs ached, and she felt her bladder was about to burst.
After treating more than a dozen injuries, they finally dug out the tyrant CEO and his wife at dawn; both were covered in blood.
Yu Tong had lost too much blood due to the miscarriage, and she had stopped breathing from suffocation and lack of oxygen.
To protect his wife, the tyrant CEO used his body to shield her tightly. However, his spine was injured by a sharp object, leaving him unable to move.
This time, Yu Tong was truly gone.
The tyrant CEO pupils were dilated, and even his soul was gone…
