From thyroid to the bladder, all possible examinations were done.
Jiang Ning slowly figured it out and felt that there was no major problem with Huo Yishen’s body, and then called Doudou in, “Come, it’s your turn.”
Doudou also had no problem and left happily.
Huo Yishen walked in with a righteous expression. “Anning, take off your clothes.”
Jiang Ning, who was called by name, “…”
With something to study and no worries about food and drink, life was not difficult.
But unexpectedly, two months later, just as Jiang Ning was about to study the CT machine, new neighbors arrived.
They didn’t know where they had come from, but there were over 30 people with off-road vehicles and motorcycles.
They looked worn out and disheveled.
Seeing a sand-beaten RV appear in front of them, they excitedly surrounded it, “Is anyone there?”
Those who can migrate to high terrain and have off-road vehicles and motorcycles are definitely not simple people.
Jiang Ning didn’t want to respond, but they kept getting closer, and there were even hints of excitement and calculation in their eyes.
Two of them secretly pulled out their guns.
Protected by bulletproof vests and steel helmets, Jiang Ning opened the car door with cold eyes. “What’s the matter?”
The leader was a middle-aged man, who smiled and stepped forward. “Excuse me, we just migrated here, and the car just ran out of gas. We are short of water and food. Can you lend us some?”
“No.” Jiang Ning was feeling very impatient, “Go away! There’s nothing here!”
Nothing? They weren’t blind.
The clothes were new and clean, their skin was white and rosy without any redness despite the high altitude, and the bulletproof vests and steel helmets they wore were also very new.
With the RV, they must have plenty of supplies.
The middle-aged man was not angry when he was rejected and continued to pester Jiang Ning shamelessly. “Please help us out. We all have similar roots. If you don’t have gasoline, at least give us some water. We’re dying of thirst.”
While he spoke, the crowd behind exchanged glances, and the ones who secretly drew their guns used the crowd as cover to move forward.
But before the two could move forward, gunshots suddenly rang out.
Two bullets swept near the middle-aged man’s feet.
The tips of his shoes were shot through, and he could even feel the heat from the gunpowder.
He was so scared that his knees gave out, and he fell to the ground, wetting his pants.
Jiang Ning did have a submachine gun hidden behind her, but she hadn’t had the chance to bring it out, and it was again taken by Huo Yishen.
She hadn’t fired a shot yet!
The intruders didn’t expect a sudden gunfire and were frightened into retreating.
Huo Yishen, holding the submachine gun, stepped forward, “Still need the water?”
With the spotlight stolen, Jiang Ning revealed her submachine gun, her expression fierce, “Don’t think that just because you have a couple of broken guns, you’re invincible and can rob anyone you see.”
Damn, they actually had two submachine guns!
Just when they were shocked, Doudou popped her head out, holding a grenade in her hand, and greeted them with a smile, “Hello, uncles and aunties.”
And Coke, not wanting to be left out, came out holding a bundle of explosives, its sharp fangs and fierce gaze was intimidating.
Everyone gasped in shock, feeling a deep sense of despair.
The middle-aged man got up in a panic. Facing the absolute overwhelming firepower, he could only smile apologetically. “It’s only a misunderstanding, we have no ill intentions; we just want to ask for a drink of water. If you don’t want to, forget it. There’s no need to make such a big fuss, right?”
“It’s been so many years since the end of the world, and you still treat others as fools?” Jiang Ning sneered. “If those two guys with broken guns try anything again, I swear I’ll shoot you all.”
Everyone was speechless after being exposed on the spot.
It’s not easy for anyone to survive until today. Jiang Ning warned with a dark face, “For the sake of our shared roots, I will spare you this time. Get out of here as far as you can.”
The middle-aged man led the group away in a panic.
Doudou was worried and stared at them vigilantly.
Half an hour later, she came in with a frown, “Brother, sister-in-law, those people are camping one kilometer away.”
Jiang Ning wasn’t surprised. It was impressive that they made it this far; where else could they go? Besides, they probably weren’t giving up easily.
It wasn’t that they weren’t scared, but fear was useless in the face of life and death.
The reason they set up camp around the area was that they saw three people and a dog living comfortably and guessed there should be a water source nearby. Additionally, their desire to rob hadn’t faded, and if it came down to it, they might attack when least expected.
If she guessed correctly, these people were born rich and used to the treacherous business world. They are not only cunning and calculating but also have stronger psychological qualities than ordinary survivors.
Jiang Ning used her binoculars to observe and saw them talking among themselves, with some even glancing in her direction.
She became alert, “We need to be careful.”
Huo Yishen thoughtfully said, “Let’s surround the RV with an electric fence later.”
So, the three people and the dog spent half a day using an electric fence to enclose the RV.
Thanks to years of training, Doudou could handle things on her own. Jiang Ning took the backseat, continuing to study the CT machine’s manual while leaving the lookout duty to her.
The next day, as expected, someone came. They politely asked from outside the electric fence where they could find a water source.
Still frightened by the previous encounter, they didn’t want to take risks, but after searching nearby and finding no water source, they were nearly dying of thirst.
Who knew where the water source was? Jiang Ning certainly didn’t lack it.
Their response was silence.
Three days later, it was pitch black outside, and the wind on the highland howled like ghosts and wolves.
Jiang Ning was a little sleepy and couldn’t help but make a cup of coffee to stay alert as she continued to flip through the doctor’s notes.
Doudou, who was wearing the night vision goggles, turned around, “Brother, sister-in-law, they are coming.”
There were fifteen people in total, sneaking over here under the cover of darkness.
They were probably driven crazy by the lack of water, so they planned to attack this place again.
From their skill, it was clear this wasn’t their first time doing this.
Compared to their previous recklessness, this time they were obviously more patient.
They were afraid of the firepower from the RV but couldn’t endure the thirst. If they could take over this place, not only would they get the water source, but also the RV and its supplies!
At the critical moment of life and death, they could only gamble with their lives.
The car windows were stained with thick sand and dust, and it was impossible to see clearly from a distance. When they got closer, they found that the lights were still on.
Fearing that they would be discovered, they had to crawl on the ground and wait for the people inside to fall asleep. Then, they would use wooden sticks to push open the electric fence and rush in to seize the opportunity.
The RV was bulletproof, and Jiang Ning was not in a hurry. She even got up and walked from time to time through the car window and did not rest even in the middle of the night.
The highland wind was strong, and the night was extremely cold. Everyone was frozen stiff, and the sand-filled air was like a knife.
They were careless and shouldn’t have come so early.
The lights in the car didn’t go out until early morning.
Everyone was so cold that their whole bodies hurt, and some even had symptoms of hypothermia. They struggled to get up quietly and gently moved their frozen bodies.
But in their minds, the RV is so big; there must be a lot of supplies. This job was definitely worth it.
There are also two women who look very beautiful; they could be kept for pleasure.
As for the man, he would be killed, and the dog would be turned into soup…

Please bear with me if I didn’t update right away 😅. I was either buried in work 💼… or buried in rereading the book 📖. (P.S. Most of the time I’m rereading it 🤭—so you know just how good the story is! 🌟)
