They had such beautiful thoughts, but unfortunately, they hadn’t acted yet when the sound of gunfire suddenly erupted…
A line of bullets swept back and forth.
They couldn’t see in the dark, but Jiang Ning, Huo Yishen and Doudou were wearing night vision goggles, so they could shoot accurately.
They didn’t even have time to take out their weapons, and they fell one after another.
Jiang Ning opened the electric fence gate and stepped out with a Tang sword.
Several people struggled to their death, begging in horror, “Beauty, I don’t want to die yet, please spare my life.”
In the dark, windy night, Jiang Ning stood in the sand and wind with a cold smile, like a death-seeking demon.
Whether they were dead or not, it was right to finish them off one by one, and there was no need to leave hidden dangers behind.
She didn’t return to the RV but went to the camp one kilometer away.
In the dark, Huo Yishen accompanied her forward.
It wasn’t far; even though the wind was strong, the sound of gunfire still reached them.
The camp was in chaos, with voices of panic and complaints from men and women, “What should we do? What now?”
Considering the survivor’s heavy losses after the plate collision and the official base’s efforts over the years, Jiang Ning gave them a chance.
But they didn’t appreciate it.
If she were to act, she wouldn’t give them a third chance.
Jiang Ning fired through the tent and threw the bomb over…
The gasoline burned for a long time before gradually extinguishing.
Jiang Ning counted the bodies, ensuring the number was correct before leaving.
It was too late, and she was extremely tired. She couldn’t be bothered to clean up the bodies outside, so she went back to the RV to take a shower and sleep.
The next morning, she woke up naturally, and the bodies outside had already been cleared by Huo Yishen.
They weren’t buried but thrown back into their camp.
The climate is dry, the temperature difference between morning and night is huge, and the wind and sand are blowing strongly, so there is no fear of causing a plague.
If survivors come back in the future, this will serve as a warning.
Later, several groups really came one after another. They were all surprised to see the RV, but they met Jiang Ning’s cold and ruthless eyes.
They walked around the area and tried to set up camp. But when they saw the dried bones not far away, they were so scared that they decided to leave.
Life in the high terrain was tough; the ultraviolet rays were strong, the air was dry and dusty, and they had to use a humidifier and air purifier daily.
But despite the harsh conditions, time passed quickly.
The land kept sinking; it was easy to push wooden stakes in, and even stepping down felt soft.
Every day when they woke up, there was a continuous wind and sand, and the visibility wasn’t very clear.
The place seemed endless, with no mountains in sight, but Jiang Ning was certain the land was sinking.
Sometimes, she would wake up in the middle of the night feeling a slight tremor.
It wasn’t very strong, just like suddenly stretching out a leg while sleeping, as if in a dream.
The ominous feeling is getting worse and worse; even Doudou noticed it.
She patrolled on an electric bike every day. The terrain was full of sand and stones, and with the dry climate, the ground would be incredibly hard.
At the beginning, her bottom hurt from the bumps.
But now, riding the electric bike felt more and more comfortable.
Doudou stopped the bike and looked at a green sprout emerging from the withered grass.
It was supposed to be a dry season, yet grass was sprouting.
She pulled out the grass and took it back to show her brother.
Huo Yishen had rich experience in surviving in the wild. He looked at the weeds and said seriously, “Anning, this place is also sinking.”
Jiang Ning nodded, “We need to prepare.”
Moss grass is a rare garden grass found in high-altitude areas. It helps stabilize sand, maintain soil and water, and conserve water sources in dry, sandy regions.
It is an evergreen grass, but it can only sprout and grow in the highland in late spring because the snow on the highland melts with the rising temperature, providing rare water sources.
But now is the driest season, and they have sprouted.
It has not rained during this period, but the soil is moist enough to allow the dead grass to sprout.
It should be that the land is cracked, and there is a constant stream of water vapor rising.
Huo Yishen used a shovel to dig into the soil. After digging for about thirty centimeters, the soil was noticeably more damp.
A few days later, Jiang Ning smelled a slight fishy smell.
The air seemed not so dry and even had cold air.
It smells like sea water!
They lived by the sea in Yuecheng for a while before, and she could smell this smell as long as she opened the window.
Today, the wind was particularly strong.
The salty smell of seawater is detectable in such a high area, indicating that the sinking is about to happen.
Jiang Ning crouched down to observe the RV and made a new discovery.
The several-ton RV had slightly sunk into the ground.
These were all signs that left no room for negligence.
Jiang Ning decisively put the RV into the space and took out the escape pod.
She also brought four life jackets; everyone had to wear one and keep it on 24/7.
The dog’s body was special, so Jiang Ning had to custom make a life jacket, modifying it with needle and thread.
Not knowing when the sinking would come, the three people and the dog worked together to set up a tent next to it. They took turns to stand guard during the day and rest in the escape pod at night. Two days later, the dog was restless since early in the morning. Even its favorite leg wasn’t enough to calm it down. It dug at the ground with its nose and kept snorting.
It even growled at Jiang Ning, “Woof!”
“I understand,” Jiang Ning said, stuffing the leg into its mouth. “The world is vast, but eating is the most important. Once you finish eating, we’ll pack up.”
While the dog was wolfing down, she walked out of the tent and looked around.
The air had high humidity, and the salty, fishy smell was stronger.
Having a bad feeling, Jiang Ning and Huo Yishen packed up the tent after the dog had eaten its fill.
Animals are much more sensitive to earthquakes and other natural disasters than humans. The dog’s restless behavior, which they couldn’t calm, was a cause for concern.
Sure enough, after entering the escape pod and lying in the trainer’s arms, the dog calmed down a little.
By noon, they were eating while watching a drama.
The clay pot rice with a combination of cured meats that she made herself, the sausages with fat and lean meat, the sweet and delicious barbecued pork, and the green vegetables with a wok aroma.
Jiang Ning picked up the barbecued pork and was about to put it in her mouth, but the chopsticks suddenly shook, and the barbecued pork fell to the ground.
Uh, it wasn’t the chopsticks that were shaking, but the escape pod.
Jiang Ning reacted quickly. Not only did she throw her own clay pot rice into the space, but she also snatched the chopsticks from Huo Yishen and her sister.
Just as she was about to grab the dog’s bowl, the escape pod started to shake violently and began to roll.
It rolled left, right, and occasionally turned around.
Even with the gravity function, they still felt very shaky and felt like they were going to vomit what they had just eaten.
It continued to roll for more than two minutes and suddenly fell into the air…
Countless cracks appeared in an instant, like the devil’s hand wielding a knife, cutting hundreds of kilometers of high terrain into countless pieces, with cracks resembling a turtle shell.
The cracks spread rapidly and then collapsed with a loud bang…
The escape pod fell at high speed, collided heavily, and then kept falling.
This cycle continued repeatedly, and they crashed deeper into the cracks…

Please bear with me if I didn’t update right away 😅. I was either buried in work 💼… or buried in rereading the book 📖. (P.S. Most of the time I’m rereading it 🤭—so you know just how good the story is! 🌟)
