Jiang Ning continued to sleep with her eyes closed while swaying gently.
Huo Yishen opened the curtains and saw that it was pitch dark outside. He could vaguely see the stars when he looked up.
The stars were beautiful, but the world was terrible.
Huo Yishen covered Jiang Ning with a blanket and closed his eyes to continue resting.
He felt groggy, and when he opened his eyes, the sky was already starting to brighten.
The dog was lying by the window, looking into the distance curiously, “Woof!”
The sea was relatively calm today, and the shaking was much less. Jiang Ning unbuckled her seat belt and moved over.
It turned out to be a sunrise over the sea.
There was a layer of light mist on the sea, like a mysterious veil. The red sun shone with gold and rose slowly. The light tore through the mist and dyed the sea and sky red.
It was beautiful, yet cruel.
Jiang Ning took out her mobile phone and took a photo of the dog watching the sunrise through the window.
After a nap, Doudou was much more energetic and quietly ate buns and drank some white porridge.
Jiang Ning muttered in a low voice, “The waves are still quite big. Yachts and cruise ships probably won’t work. Can we use the submarine?”
Huo Yishen advised against it. “Submarines are meant for deep-sea operations. Since the land has just sunk and the depth is unknown, we could easily get stuck or damage its components.”
With no other choice, they settled on watching a comedy show and munching on sunflower seeds.
When Doudou got up and moved around, she looked at the outside world through the glass. Her eyes suddenly locked in the distance, “Mountains, there are mountains!”
Humans are not naturally good at surviving in the ocean. How can they not be excited when they hear about mountains?
Jiang Ning leaned over and saw a mountain in the distance.
A mountain standing in the ocean.
The sun shone on the top of the mountain, and it emitted a faint light.
Feeling the call of the divine light, Jiang Ning took out her binoculars to observe. She felt that the mountain was quite huge and seemed a little familiar. It seemed that she had seen it somewhere.
Uh, isn’t this the roof of the world? Oh, she actually drifted here.
If she continued drifting, she would soon drift out of the country.
It seemed close, yet it was still far away.
After drifting for two hours, they still hadn’t arrived. Instead, the waves were getting more and more violent, and it felt like a storm was coming soon.
Sure enough, one wave after another, they started to show off wildly.
She looked at the roof of the world from time to time but didn’t expect that it would start to crack and collapse in the blink of an eye.
Jiang Ning stared at it with wide eyes, watching its collapse.
The violent shaking caused the glaciers on the top of the mountain to burst, revealing the black-brown mountain that had existed for billions of years.
The rolling glaciers kept colliding, then split into countless fragments, colliding with the mountain over and over again.
The glaciers turned into ice blocks, the ice blocks turned into ice particles, and the ice particles turned into snowflakes…
Yes, from a distance, it resembled both a high mountain avalanche and milk pouring from a chocolate tower, with clear and distinct layers.
The glacier shattered and flowed into the sea, and the roof of the world was chopped into countless pieces by the cold and ruthless devil’s hand waving a deadly sickle.
First, there was a violent tremor, then the mountain exploded, and rocks that had been there for billions of years rolled down, holding the heroic spirit of dying together, and slammed into the roaring sea…
It causes huge and terrifying waves.
The massive wave was like a moth to a flame.
It was heroic, but useless.
The backbone of the Earth was easily crushed and silently submerged in the vast ocean.
No matter how hard you look for it, it is no longer visible.
The feeling of loss ruthlessly swallowed up the joy of discovering it.
Jiang Ning witnessed everything, and her heart seemed to be stabbed with a knife.
She had never climbed the roof of the world, but for humans, this mountain was a symbol of spirit and a beacon in the darkness.
As long as it stood tall, there was still hope for the land.
But under the impact of successive natural disasters, the spine was shattered and could never stand up again.
Even though she had prepared for the worst, Jiang Ning still had a glimmer of hope in her heart, which was extinguished in that moment.
She looked in the direction where the mountains were swallowed and couldn’t recover for a long time.
…
After swaying in the sea for a long time, Doudou began to feel dizzy again, but she resisted and didn’t say anything.
She saw a living person floating on the sea outside on a bamboo raft.
It was too far away to see his skin color, but she could feel that he seemed very weak, and no one knew how long he could hold on.
Compared with him, she was so fortunate to be with her brother and sister-in-law.
The escape pod was a little shaky, but at least she could move freely, without wind and sun, and she didn’t have to worry about food and drink.
She didn’t say anything; after all, she couldn’t save him.
Doudou turned her face away and avoided any unnecessary troubles.
At night, after Doudou fell asleep, Jiang Ning still went into the space to rest.
In fact, she had been considering whether to tell Doudou the truth over the years.
Despite being very careful and always having Huo Yishen as a cover when she took things, Doudou had grown up and was very smart.
Dealing with her, who had a seemingly sweet but dark side, Jiang Ning often felt powerless.
In the future, entering and exiting the space would become more frequent, and finding reasons would become increasingly difficult. She even suspected that Doudou might already know the truth but chose not to say anything.
Although Doudou spoke softly, she was very perceptive and kept many things hidden inside her heart. Even her own brother might not know everything, let alone her sister-in-law.
She was like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
This character was an advantage in the end times. Not only was she not easily deceived, but she was also the type to profit from others’ losses.
But Jiang Ning was slightly worried. Currently, their interests are aligned with no conflicts, but in a few years, what would happen when Doudou got married?
Just like she and Zhang Chao Lu Yu, who had grown up together like family, with Zhang Chao even taking bricks for her.
But later, they both found lovers to spend their lives with.
Though they initially appeared united, their interests diverged. At first, they were a group, but later, they found their own partners.
Zhang Chao now would no longer take a brick for her like he did when they were kids because he has his wife to take care of him.
She is the same; she will lend a hand when encountering difficulties, but she will never risk her life to protect her friends.
Jiang Ning couldn’t make up her mind, so she left the decision to Huo Yishen.
Huo Yishen thought carefully.
Over the years, he has attached great importance to Doudou’s education. He kept all the imaginative novels downloaded by Jiang Ning away from her and didn’t let her read them.
She doesn’t know what space is at all.
Even if she knows that things can be taken out of thin air, she may not know that people can enter and exit freely.
However, Doudou was indeed very perceptive, so it was possible she already knew about the space.
No matter how close the brother and sister are, Doudou will not tell Huo Yishen everything.
And Huo Yishen is not sure how many things she has hidden in her heart.
“Let’s not talk about it for now. When the day comes that we can’t hide it anymore, I’ll say it’s my space.”
If the disaster is over and civilization is restored one day, and Doudou really has other thoughts, they could say the space had disappeared.
It’s hard to be a man, and even harder to be a good one.
The space belongs to Jiang Ning. She takes good care of Doudou for his sake. No one can guarantee that things will remain the same forever.

Please bear with me if I didn’t update right away 😅. I was either buried in work 💼… or buried in rereading the book 📖. (P.S. Most of the time I’m rereading it 🤭—so you know just how good the story is! 🌟)
