The two little elves wanted bubbles, and of course, Chen Xing wanted to buy it for them. With the guidance of San’er, he finally found a shop.
The sign outside read “Bai Kaixin Iceberry Maker Specialized Store.” From the outside, they could see various machines inside the bubble house, all designed to make different Iceberry Bubbles.
Chen Xing pulled little Tu’er and Yu’er into the shop. There were no other customers inside, only one person who appeared to be the owner. He sat at the front desk, casually crossing his legs and putting his feet up on the table.
“Welcome to Bai Kaixin~,” the owner said casually.
From his voice, it was clear that he was not very old. However, his voice lacked the magical quality typically found in elves. It sounded quite ordinary, much like how Chen Xing spoke.
“Boss, we want to buy the kind of bubbles that you can step on and fly with. Do you have them?” Chen Xing asked.
The owner’s eyes narrowed slightly upon hearing his voice, a detail that Chen Xing naturally noticed. The owner looked about seventeen or eighteen years old, but he gave off a mysterious vibe.
His appearance was above average among elves, but Chen Xing couldn’t help but feel that he didn’t seem like an elf.
Chen Xing had seen many elves on the way, and while this elf had elf ears and wings, he lacked the typical elven aura.
The owner replied, “Yes, we have attachment-type, small-scale bubble generators. They can create bubbles with a total of 500 charges. The maximum volume is one cubic meter.”
Chen Xing didn’t fully understand what the owner was saying, so he could only guess based on the literal meaning. Regardless, he thought, whatever, I’ll figure it out when I play with it!
“Sure, I’ll take one. How much is it?”
“Ten thousand.”
Chen Xing paid and left. The owner watched his departing figure and narrowed his eyes again, muttering to himself, “Indeed, a human… Tsk tsk… Why are there more and more humans showing up recently?”
At that moment, a stunning elven woman emerged from a door behind him. She had a beautiful face and wore an ultra-short petal skirt. Nothing could be seen beneath the skirt. On her upper body, she wore a thin, plant-like material that resembled silk clothing.
The scenery was tantalizing, shrouded in a sense of mystery.
The elf woman looked at the young man with his legs crossed. She lifted her foot and kicked him in the butt.
Using her magical and melodious voice, she scolded, “How many times have I told you not to put your legs up on the table!”
The young man shrugged and quickly brought his legs down, casually saying, “I got it, big sister Bai.”
The elven woman, upon seeing this, shook her head in resignation and extended her pink fist to punch him. “Don’t call me ‘big sister’! You make me sound old!”
“Okay, Auntie Bai!”
“Get lost!”
The elven girl’s name was Elvira Wenhua Ming Bai, but she was known simply as Bai or Sister Bai. She wasn’t very old, roughly the same age as the young man, but had the charm of a royal sister.
In a world filled with elven sisters, she was still the ‘mature sister’ among the elves. Therefore, everyone respectfully called her Sister Bai.
“By the way, I heard you talking earlier. What did you say about more and more people coming in?” Sister Bai looked around the shop; there was no one else inside.
The young man replied expressionlessly, “A human came in just now, from who knows which dimension.”
“Oh? From the Spirit Continent?”
The young man nodded, “Probably, sigh…”
He sighed deeply.
Seeing the young man sigh, Sister Bai curled her lips. She reached out and ruffled his hair vigorously.
“Why are you doing that?” The young man helplessly rearranged his hairstyle.
Sister Bai rolled her eyes and said, “Why do you sigh all the time? I think you should just change your name to ‘Sigh’ instead of ‘Kaixin’ (which means ‘happy’).”
Yes, this young man was named Kaixin (Happy), but he didn’t look happy at all.
Kaixin pouted and argued, “Who says I’m not happy? I’m very happy. That person who just came in spent ten thousand on a bubble machine worth a thousand.”
“I’m quite happy~”
Although he said this, he still had a blank expression.
From the beginning, he had felt that Chen Xing didn’t seem like an elf. So, he deliberately quoted a higher price, wanting to see if Chen Xing would negotiate, but he didn’t. He just bought it.
With this, Kaixin became even more convinced that Chen Xing was a human who had just arrived in the Elf Dimension.
Bam!
Sister Bai gave Kaixin’s arm a firm punch.
Kaixin: ???
“Why did you do that? I earned you money!”
Sister Bai “banged” him with a punch again. She didn’t put much effort into it; it just made his arm sore.
She scolded angrily, “Ill-gotten gains!”
Kaixin shrugged, “We can always try fortune reading.”
Sister Bai extended her hand, rolled her eyes at him, and said, “Then do it.”
Kaixin rolled his eyes back at her and reluctantly extended his hand, placing it on Sister Bai’s hand.
“Whoosh!”
A white light flashed!
Kaixin disappeared on the spot.
Around Sister Bai, three dice floated in mid-air. However, there was nothing written or drawn on any of them.
In the next moment, with a thought from Sister Bai, and one of the dice floated in front of her. It started spinning and then came to a stop.
“Whoosh!”
Before her eyes, a frightening scene appeared. It depicted a person covered in blood but holding a holy angelic sword. The meaning behind this image might only be understood by Sister Bai and Kaixin.
Sister Bai squinted her eyes as she saw it. “He really is from the Spirit Continent. Your fellow human, Kaixin.”
Kaixin, however, remained calm. “I guessed as much… But what about those two girls with him? They seem peculiar.”
Sister Bai nodded. “Regardless of who they are, let’s check their fortunes for the day.”
Another die floated in front of her and stopped after spinning. Then, a blood-red word appeared before them: “Danger!”
Sister Bai raised an eyebrow. “Tsk tsk… It seems like things won’t go smoothly today. Let’s help him.”
“Danger doesn’t mean death. Are you planning to help with this too?” Kaixin asked.
Sister Bai rolled her eyes and looked at the three dice above her head. “When you’re in the mix, you have to pay your dues, kid.”
“Tch!”
Sister Bai snapped her fingers.
With a loud snap, the three dice floating in front of her began spinning rapidly. In the next moment, the three dice suddenly froze, and a crimson blood light burst forth.
“BOOM!”
A red mist exploded!
Two words appeared before them: “Great Misfortune!”
Kaixin: ???
Sister Bai: ???
“Oh no!” Sister Bai suddenly exclaimed, but as she did, the red light shot out directly.
Kaixin landed on the ground and looked at the dumbfounded Sister Bai. He couldn’t help but comment, “Are you poisonous? Turning someone’s potential danger into great misfortune.”
“I think you’re the reason he’s in danger,” he added.
Sister Bai was left speechless. “What else could I do? Your dice just aren’t working! I was trying to roll a great fortune!”
Kaixin: “…”
He was also helpless. This was originally a controllable skill, but thanks to this lady, it had become a random skill…
If she were just bad at it, that would be one thing, but she was bad and still loved playing with it…
This time, they had gotten themselves into trouble.
“Hurry, let’s go!” Sister Bai pulled Kaixin and headed out.
“What are you doing again?” Kaixin followed Sister Bai, feeling helpless. He just wanted to loaf around and take it easy. Why did this big sister always find trouble for him?
While running, Sister Bai said, “We’re closing up today! Quickly, go find him. We might still catch up.”
“But don’t let anything happen, or I won’t be able to sleep at night.”
Seeing her anxious expression, Kaixin teased, “He’s quite handsome, you know. If he turns into a ghost and comes to find you at midnight, wouldn’t you be happy?”
Sister Bai glanced at him.
Bang! She punched him directly, leaving a huge bump on his head.
The ominous red light that had just appeared shot out in all directions, and then it stopped right above Chen Xing’s head. Two bright crimson characters floated above him. 『Great Misfortune 』
“Hmm…”
At the moment the red light arrived, Chen Xing’s intuition as an assassin made all his hair stand on end.
“Weird… Why do I feel such a strong sense of unease?”
San’er: 【 I feel it too… 】
The blood-red light illuminated Chen Xing, making his whole body glow red. It didn’t just illuminate him; the red light shot up into the sky, reaching an alarming height. However, no one else could see it except Sister Bai and Kaixin.
As they walked out of the shop, they saw the red light in the distance, reaching up into the sky.
“What the…?” Kaixin and Sister Bai were both dumbfounded.
The ominous light pierced the sky… What did this mean?
Kaixin glanced at the bewildered Sister Bai and commented dryly, “This isn’t just ‘Great Misfortune.’ This is a ‘Freakin’ Disaster!’ Even more of a disaster than you…”
Sister Bai: ???
“Seriously…”
Sister Bai clenched her fist, although she wanted to punch him, she wasn’t in the mood now. She gave him an annoyed look. “Hurry up and chase after him!”
With that, her elf wings extended behind her and lifted Kaixin into the sky.
Sister Bai was a genuine elf, while Kaixin came from the Spirit Continent. They became partners due to fate’s quirks.
