Chapter 14: The Bloodthirsty Fox
Wen Ye’s face was even redder than when he had a fever. “Le Xiaomai, what madness are you spouting? Dare to eat my ears!”
“Don’t you want me to help you find your spirit pearl?” I raised an eyebrow, calculating him with a wicked smile. “How about I accompany you to find the spirit pearl if you cut off your ears? Anyway, you’ve transformed into a human form, so these fox ears are useless. Why not give them to me?”
His chest heaved with anger as he frowned and glared at me.
After a long silence, Wen Ye made up his mind and said, “Okay! I’ll give them to you.”
As soon as he spoke, a halo of light appeared in his hand, as if he was gathering strength, and he looked like he was about to grab his ears. I quickly let go of him and muttered dejectedly, “I was just kidding. Who wants your ears anyway.”
Why is this guy so serious?
“Then what about the matter of you helping me find the spirit pearl?” He sat up and asked.
I covered myself with the quilt, closed my eyes, and said faintly, “I’ll reply to you after I wake up. Allow me to consider it for a night.”
“Le Xiaomai! Is there any truth in your words!” He grabbed my pajama collar, grinding his teeth.
I looked at him amused and asked, “What about you? Can you guarantee that everything you’ve said is the truth?”
“I can!”
Wen Ye’s angry breath rushed toward me. The smile on my face froze, and I felt that I had taken the joke a little too far.
I patted his hand that was grabbing my collar. “Let go of me first. I apologize for the joke just now, but I really haven’t made up my mind.”
“Hmph, a joke… Do you think it’s very funny?” He sneered, let me go, and turned away, his whole body radiating anger.
My head hit the pillow, and my brain was blank for a moment. I looked at his dejected back and really wanted to go over to apologize and comfort him.
Forget it, I really haven’t made up my mind yet. Giving him hope and then disappointing him would be even more heartbreaking.
Everything can wait until I wake up.
——————
I woke up at noon, tormented by back pain and abdominal distention. Wen Ye was nowhere to be found in the room.
After going to the bathroom, I went through all the rooms and confirmed that he was really not at home.
I hurriedly called Zhao Yanzu. Hearing that Wen Ye was missing, he wasn’t anxious at all. “We couldn’t control him when he was a little fox. Now that he’s a biped with a legitimate identity, we can’t control him even more.”
“But he’s injured and has ears and a tail. Also, he said yesterday that he couldn’t control his magic power or something. What if he gets caught and studied!” I was very anxious. “Does he have a cell phone? Do you have his contact information?”
“He hasn’t been transformed into a human form for long. He doesn’t know how to use a cell phone.”
What should I do?
“Xiaomai, go do your own thing first. Wen Ye will be fine.” Zhao Yanzu asked, “Have you considered what happened yesterday?”
I scratched my messy hair, my head in a mess. “Brother Yanzu, I’m a bit confused right now. Can you wait for me to sort things out before I reply to you? I’m very worried about Wen Ye’s safety right now.”
“Okay, no rush.” He chuckled. “Xiaomai, you admit you’re worried about him. You two have only been together for a day.”
“I…”
He interrupted me, chuckling, “My little fox is very good. You’ll know when you get along for a long time. Okay, go back to school first.”
“Okay then… If you have any news about him, send me a WeChat message.”
Only after he replied, “No problem,” did I hang up.
Before I could put down my phone, it rang again. Peng Fei was in a hurry. “Xiaomai, where are you now? Didn’t you see the group message? Wang-gou said your thesis has a lot of problems and specifically wants you to go to his office!”
In an instant, I had two big heads, quickly opened WeChat. Wang-gou said some nonsense in the graduation group and tagged me separately. Seeing that I didn’t reply, he sent me a smiling emoji in a private message.
Wang-gou was our structural mechanics teacher and also my graduation mentor. Because he looked like a husky and liked to make a fuss when lecturing, and his surname was Wang, we secretly called him Wang-gou (Dog Wang).
When I was choosing a graduation mentor in the first semester of my senior year, my great-grandmother fell, and I took a few days off to take care of her.
When I returned to school, the mentor I wanted to choose no longer had student slots, so Peng Fei and I chose Wang-gou.
Returning to the dormitory to get the materials, Peng Fei leaned over and said in a low voice, “Xiaomai, Wang-gou is deliberately making things difficult for you. He always looks at you with lustful eyes and takes advantage of you whenever he gets the chance. I’ll go with you.”
Although I hadn’t been in a relationship, I still understood that kind of stuff between men and women. Every time I went to Wang-gou for guidance on my thesis, he would always intentionally or unintentionally touch my hand or make other physical contact.
It made me want to get angry, but he would pretend to be serious and walk away. A typical hypocrite, which was both frustrating and disgusting.
Arriving at the office, there was indeed only Wang-gou.
“Teacher, what other problems are there with my thesis? I’ll go and revise them immediately.” I put a thick stack of paper in front of him, enduring the discomfort and being polite.
Wang-gou sat in front of the computer with his glasses on, clicking the mouse, not even looking at me, acting as if nothing had happened. “Close the office door first.”
If looks could kill, I would want to slowly slice him to death.
Seeing that I didn’t move, he raised his oily eyelids and threatened, “Do you want to delay your graduation?”
I clenched my fists tightly, closed the door, and left a small crack.
At first, Wang-gou picked out a few problems, but they were all minor issues with formatting and wording.
In less than two minutes, he stood up to get water from the water dispenser, walked slowly to my side, and spat out tea leaves. “Le Xiaomai, the teacher knows that your family is poor. Although your grades aren’t very outstanding, you’re usually very serious and hardworking in class. This is very popular in society.”
“The teacher has a good job here, a state-owned enterprise. Not only is it easy, but the salary is also high. Do you want the teacher to help you get it?”
“Did the teacher call me here today to introduce me to a job?” I tried to keep smiling. “You didn’t look for so many excellent students in the class. Why look for me?”
Wang-gou grabbed my arm, his oily mouth coming closer. I had been prepared for this, quickly dodging, almost letting him slam my face.
Damn it, so disgusting.
“Why do you think I’m looking for you! Isn’t it because I like you! The teacher couldn’t stand it the first time I saw you.” He said excitedly, twisting my arm hard and pulling me into his arms.
“You clearly look very pure, but your butt is unusually pert. It would be even better if your breasts were bigger! Do you want me to help you enhance your breasts! Watching you sway back and forth in front of me, I really want to fuck you to death!” As he spoke, he pushed me into a corner, pulling at my clothes, and unbuckling his belt.
I struggled to push him away, shouting for him to let me go, scolding him for threatening and raping and sexually harassing me under the pretext of checking my graduation thesis.
Wang-gou’s face was full of lust, impatient with thirst. “That’s right! I’ve already turned off the camera here. If I don’t fuck you, you won’t have a chance! Be obedient, and I’ll take care of your job! Otherwise, don’t even think about passing your graduation defense!”
You dog thing, I’ve been waiting for you to admit it!
“Peng Fei! Did you get it all on camera!” I shouted at the door.
Before the words could land, the office door was suddenly blown open by a gust of wind, slamming against the wall with a bang.
A beam of white light, like lightning, suddenly pounced behind Wang-gou in front of me. I didn’t see it clearly, but I heard him scream sharply.
“Ah! What is this thing!”
Wang-gou lay on the ground disheveled, and a white fox stretched out its claws and sharp teeth, attacking violently.
Wang-gou struggled desperately, but still couldn’t shake off the fox on his head. His back, neck, and side of his face were instantly covered with blood and deep claw marks.
“Ahhh! Le Xiaomai, save the teacher!”
The fox bared its teeth and looked up at me, its eyes full of bloodthirsty red, and its mouth hanging with shredded meat. I was so frightened that I collapsed to the ground.
It’s Wen Ye!
How could I be deceived by his cute human appearance and naively believe that he wouldn’t hurt me after swearing to heaven?
He is still a fox, a five-hundred-year-old fox spirit. How could he be tamed and become docile…
This is its nature—bloodthirsty and cruel.
Wen Ye looked at me without blinking. My mouth was dry, my pupils widened, and I couldn’t say a word in fear.
