“The situation is like this for now. The eldest son has rarely come home since the big argument with the sixth young master two years ago,” said Li Xiaoming.
“As for the second young master, he’s always the good guy in this family and doesn’t get involved in disputes.”
“As for the three daughters, I don’t understand the minds of young girls,” Li Xiaoming’s voice was loud, and Yi Yu immediately covered his mouth with his hand.
Wang Qiang, from the other side, began to speak, “I heard from the servants that the reason the eldest son had a big fight with his father two years ago was because he disagreed with the marriage.”
“The eldest son wouldn’t listen, so the sixth young master cut off all his funds. About three months later, on a rainy night, the sixth young master brought his drunken eldest son back home from the street.”
“Third young lady only hates her father because she believes her mother’s death is somehow connected to the fourth concubine.”
Xu Yi paused as he spoke, and Li Xiaoming, with a serious face, urged, “Xu, continue.”
After a while, Xu Yi came out of his thoughts. “What’s wrong is their usual interaction.”
“Do you think they are just putting on an act?” Yi Yu looked up, his words tinged with weariness.
“Yes, when we first arrived, the butler never mentioned any disharmony between them. He only said one thing: they don’t care about the inheritance at all.”
To verify this idea, the four of them decided to follow the family members, and this action soon got the attention of the other participants.
On the street, countless shops, the hustle and bustle of shopkeepers calling out. Wang Qiang was the first to organize a group and pulled Li Xiaoming along. “Yi Ge, let’s follow the third young lady.”
Yi Yu reminded them, “If anything happens, head back to the villa.”
The smell of pan-fried buns wafted in the air, making it hard to resist stopping, but Xu Yi couldn’t eat any.
“It’s not safe,” he said seriously to Yi Yu, “It might be poisoned.”
“Who are we following? Other people will definitely follow too. We need to separate and not be caught all together.”
“Second young master.”
Xu Yi didn’t ask further, and Yi Yu stepped forward to block him, covering his back.
“Hold on to your clothes, there are too many people.”
“I’m not a three-year-old kid, I’m not doing that,” Xu Yi retorted.
The crowd behind them, however, suddenly surged toward them, shouting loudly.
“They’re… killing people!” Yi Yu, ignoring Xu Yi’s refusal, grabbed his hand and started running wildly.

“The second young master’s house is just ahead. Are you okay?” Yi Yu hadn’t caught his breath yet. Xu Yi bent over, waved his hand to indicate it was fine.
To avoid attracting attention, they observed possible hiding spots nearby, only to make an unexpected discovery.
“Look, isn’t that the sixth young master?” Xu Yi pointed with his finger.
Yi Yu gestured for silence.
Xu Yi suggested splitting up, and Yi Yu had no choice but to agree, “Be careful. Let’s meet back at the villa by 6 o’clock, don’t be late.”
He added quietly as Xu Yi disappeared into the alley, “Otherwise, I’ll worry.”
At 5:50, the three who had returned to the villa after dinner found that Xu Yi still hadn’t returned.
Yi Yu put on his clothes and prepared to open the door. When the door was pushed open, Yi Yu’s anxious heart finally relaxed.
“Why so late?” he asked.
Xu Yi, hungry, replied, “I’m starving.”
After finishing a large bowl of wontons, Xu Yi rubbed his stomach. “Big discovery.”
“Xiaoming, what about you guys?”
“We also made a big discovery. We followed the third young lady around all day. She was shooting a movie, but in the middle of it, guess who showed up for a visit?”
“Fourth young lady?” Yi Yu spoke first, and Xu Yi helped ease the tension. “He talks too much.”
“Yes, so this confirms they were just acting that day.”
“Now it’s my turn.” Xu Yi finished the soup without leaving a drop, giving Yi Yu face.
“The butler met with the sixth young master today, but he left the house quickly.”
Yi Yu, who had been following the second young master, didn’t report any issues. Afterward, Xu Yi noticed Yi Yu had fallen silent.
“Something on your mind?”
“The butler seems very concerned about the sixth young master. Did you notice that?”
“I did notice. His gaze toward the sixth young master… something about it tells me it’s not simple.”
“You’ve been silent because you’re thinking about this, haven’t you?”
Yi Yu wasn’t someone who hesitated. “No.”
“Is it me?” Xu Yi didn’t know where the words came from, but something deep inside told him it was true.
Their foreheads touched gently. Yi Yu lowered his voice, “Who else could it be, if not you?”
What Yi Yu didn’t know was that, after he spoke, Xu Yi felt a warm current flow into his heart, where a little deer was jumping around joyfully.
