“The true heir we’ve already talked about, but the system didn’t react at all.”
“Yes, yes, yes, but I’ve already given up. As long as I can survive, I’m satisfied.”
“Just look at my shiny hair, and you’ll know how high my IQ is.”
This contestant patted a few strands of hair on top of his head, looking like a walking spotlight.
“Are we stuck with a buff?” The sausage in the plate was cut in half, with some ketchup on top. Wang Qiang picked up a fork, and the sausage instantly teleported to Li Xiaoming’s plate.
“Yi Ge, what are we doing today?” Li Xiaoming chewed on the sausage, ketchup smearing his mouth.
Xu Yi quietly moved the carrots in his plate to another plate, and Yi Yu noticed and poured the carrots back, saying, “Picky eating is bad.”
“Let’s wander around.” Yi Yu answered the earlier question, his eyes on Xu Yi, who ate all the carrots in one bite. He only realized afterward.
“Why do I always listen to him?”
Wandering around, the entertainment room was bustling. Xu Yi took a round and then returned to his room, leaving Li Xiaoming and Wang Qiang behind.
Sounds came from the butler’s room, and Xu Yi stopped, pressing his ear to the door.
Inside, the sounds stopped, and Xu Yi quickly hid, avoiding encountering the person inside.
After the person had completely walked away, Xu Yi stared at the back, as if he had seen it somewhere before.
The empty room, Xu Yi initially wanted to tell Yi Yu that they could only wait now.
During the waiting time, Xu Yi mentally went over everyone he had seen in the villa.
The sky darkened, and Xu Yi opened his eyes to hear the sound of water running in the bathroom.
“Yi Yu, is that you?” Xu Yi called out, approaching the door.
A minute later, Yi Yu draped a towel over Xu Yi’s head. “There’s something to say.”
“Yes, today I heard sounds of arguing from the butler’s room, but I couldn’t catch much before I hid.”
“Someone came out, but I can’t remember who.” Xu Yi’s thoughts were written all over his face.
Yi Yu placed his hand on Xu Yi’s furrowed brow. “Think slowly, no rush.”
“Xu Ge, Yi Ge, we heard a big news!” Li Xiaoming quickly shut the door, and Wang Qiang was about to speak.
“The butler is actually the biological father of Sixth Young Master!”
Li Xiaoming nodded wildly.
“It turns out Sixth Young Master’s mother and the butler were childhood sweethearts. Later, she married Sixth Young Master, and the butler came here because of her.”
“Before Sixth Young Master, we heard many servants say that Sixth Young Master didn’t look like him at all, but more like the butler.”
“Then the butler is the real murderer of Sixth Young Master, just to help his son take the inheritance.”
Yi Yu felt that things were not simple. “The murderer is not important. What’s important is the real heir, especially if it’s not just one person.”
Xu Yi suddenly realized. “So that means there’s no such thing as an heir; the heir is just a decoy.”
“He brought us here to cover up the truth of the murder.”
Li Xiaoming said, “Then the people always around the butler must know something. As long as we get them to talk, everything will be solved.”
Xu Yi’s confusion was answered, thanks to Li Xiaoming’s mention. He remembered someone, the servant Xiao Hua.
“We need to think of a way to scare him.” Wang Qiang suggested.
Yi Yu already had a plan. He had gathered a lot today from the ninth floor. In each room of the historical family groups, there was a redwood cabinet, locked.
Yi Yu didn’t take much time to unlock it, and inside were personal leather masks, from the first generation to the Sixth Young Master.
As for why these were there, Yi Yu didn’t want to know.
On the ninth floor, after successfully taking the leather masks, the four of them made their way quietly to the servant’s area.
Xu Yi hadn’t yet put on the leather mask when the sound of a vase breaking came from Xiao Hua’s room.
Yi Yu kicked the door open. Inside, the butler was preparing to suffocate Xiao Hua with a pillow on the bed.
After being discovered, the butler grabbed a fruit knife and lunged at Yi Yu.
The knife was knocked away by Xu Yi’s backhand, and the butler was quickly subdued.
All six children also returned to the villa.
Xiao Hua knelt on the floor. “Young Masters and Young Ladies, I’ve told you everything. He forced me to do this.”
“You knew it all along.”
“Yes, your people told us everything. That act was for you to watch. Otherwise, how would you have exposed your fox tail so quickly, giving me the chance to have my second brother investigate you?”
The Eldest Young Master sat in the main seat. “All these years, you’ve recruited spies in the company. My father treated you well, so why did you resort to such extreme measures?”
The butler, hands bound, responded, “It’s because your father snatched away my love.”
“It’s because of Ling Ling that we broke up.”
The Sixth Young Master punched the butler in the stomach, angrily saying, “You’re talking nonsense. My mother is not the Ling Ling you’re referring to.”
“My mother just resembles her a little, but the woman you’re talking about, called Ling Ling, was never brought back by my father. I’ve never heard of her.”
The Fourth Young Lady tried to pull the Sixth Young Master away. “Sixth Brother, don’t beat him to death.”
“Zhao Quan, the woman you’re talking about, named Ling Ling, passed away over twenty years ago. The day you abandoned her and eloped with someone else, she hung herself in her home.”
“Are you out of your mind?”
[Congratulations to all players under 00.01, mission complete.]
Xu Yi had a very cartoonish band-aid on his hand. “Just a little scratch, no need to patch it up.”
Before Yi Yu could speak, Xu Yi extended his finger. Yi Yu lowered his head, and the touch of lips on his fingertip felt cold.
“This time, I won’t say I’m being a rogue.”
Xu Yi said impatiently, “If I say it, you won’t do it.”
“No way,” Yi Yu smiled brightly.
The last scene in the villa showed the six children of the Sixth Young Master crying inconsolably as they looked at the diary he left behind.
Whether or not the Sixth Young Master had already predicted his own end, looking at the empty villa, the echo of the laughter of children from the past seemed to flash by.
“Eldest, I know you hate me, but you were only 22 then. I specially sent someone to check your lover’s background. It was I who gave her money to leave, and she promised me she would never come back to you. If she really loved you, why would she take my money?”
“Second, you’ve always been the most worry-free of my children. I know you’re upright and kind, and won’t do anything harmful to others. But always be cautious, don’t let anyone take advantage of you. I feel very reassured knowing you and the Eldest are in the company.”
“Third, I’ve never told you this before, but now that you’re grown, I’ll tell you. I really loved your mother. She had a poor constitution, and after giving birth to you, her condition worsened. On her deathbed, she entrusted you to the Fourth Concubine. The Fourth Concubine has treated you and your sister the same. You know this. Lastly, if you’re bullied at work, just come home. Your family will have your back.”
“Fourth, you’ve always been the liveliest. I know you’re doing well. You’ll always be the first to stand up when anyone in the family is bullied. I’m very proud to see you grow from a little girl to the known leading actress of today.”
“Fifth, you’re now a big girl. You won’t be running after me to buy you candy anymore. You and your mother both like flowers. How’s the flower shop doing? If the business is good, don’t overwork yourself. You’re just like your second brother in character. Be careful out there.”
“Finally, my youngest son. When I first met you, you smiled at me so happily, and your mother let me give you the name ‘Le.’ I agreed. Now, you’re still like a little child. When you miss home while studying abroad, just come back. Don’t make things hard on yourself.”
“You six will always be my pride.”
