I actually fell in love with my mortal enemy Chapter 21

Wutou Town was bustling with activity. The small stall owners were shouting loudly, and after traveling through the night, the group was hungry. They entered a tavern, settled down, and then went downstairs.

To get the information they needed, they had to rely on the waiter. Li Xiaoming, brimming with confidence, set a plate of peanuts and a jug of wine on the table, almost managing to coax the whole history of Wutou Town out of the waiter.

The table next to them was not ordinary either. Xu Yi immediately recognized the person as Fei Ye. Fei Ye’s head seemed to have eyes on the back of it, and realizing that someone was watching, he turned around.

“What a coincidence, handsome, we meet again,” Fei Ye said as he casually moved next to Xu Yi and began to pour wine into his previously empty cup, only to be stopped by Yi Yu. Yi Yu lifted his eyes, meeting Fei Ye’s half-smiling, half-amused gaze.

“He hasn’t recovered yet. He can’t drink.”

“NPC, huh?”

Xu Yi didn’t introduce Fei Ye. He got straight to the point. “What news do you have?”

Fei Ye leaned in closer and whispered in Xu Yi’s ear. After a moment, he turned and left without a word, going upstairs.

At the second watch of the night, Xu Yi arrived as promised, using his light-footed technique to move silently across the eaves of the buildings in Wutou Town. He was at the famous Zhaoyuan Bai steamed bun shop.

“Don’t tell me you came here to eat buns,” Xu Yi said, addressing Fei Ye.

Fei Ye gestured for him to be quiet, quietly picking up a tile shard, from which light was shining through.

Xu Yi crouched down on the eaves, looking down. A large amount of gold items were being kissed by Zhaoyuan Bai, among which was a finely crafted wooden box.

“This guy hides his treasures well. By day, he sells buns and displays Yuan Da Tou coins, and by night, he’s a thief. Even the Su family, who were supposed to guard the jade artifact pen, aren’t exempt.”

After their previous experience, Xu Yi instinctively looked to the side. “Yi Yu, what do you think?”

Receiving no response, a sense of loneliness crept in. Fei Ye, however, found it amusing. “Yi Yu?”

“Why did you tell me this?” Xu Yi asked, confused.

“Because I find you interesting. Let’s see if anything develops.”

When Fei Ye spoke, his peach blossom eyes looked especially captivating under the moonlight. For a moment, they seemed to merge with Yi Yu’s gaze. Xu Yi shook his head. When he came to his senses, he was ready to go down.

“Don’t rush. Wait until he falls asleep.”

Xu Yi realized that Fei Ye had other intentions. This wasn’t the first time he had heard such words, but he still maintained his distance.

Fei Ye sighed and smiled again. “Looks like I don’t have a chance.”

The pen wasn’t as easily obtained as expected. Even as he fell asleep, Zhaoyuan Bai clutched the box containing the gold items.

Taking advantage of his turn, Fei Ye grabbed the box and handed it to Xu Yi.

The two knew nothing about the password, and in the darkness, Zhaoyuan Bai took the long sword hidden under the quilt.

Fei Ye couldn’t use any martial skills. “I’m not the type to know martial arts,” he muttered.

Xu Yi, still injured, quickly fell into a disadvantage. They fought on the roof, and Zhaoyuan Bai turned to face Fei Ye.

Fei Ye threw the box toward Xu Yi, who glanced over and saw Li Hai running off with it.

Zhaoyuan Bai’s face, once human, transformed under the moonlight into that of a pig, and the long sword in his hand turned into a nine-clawed hook.

Xu Yi, unable to ignore his injuries, found himself too weak to resist as the hook approached. He was already preparing to accept his fate when the scent of alcohol filled the air. Jugs of wine were thrown at Zhaoyuan Bai.

Not just Fei Ye, but Yi Yu had arrived unannounced.

As the moonlight slowly became obscured by clouds, Zhaoyuan Bai’s strength began to wane. After taking several blows, he collapsed in the street.

Xu Yi, bloodied and supporting himself with his sword, knelt on the ground. His glasses were stained with blood, and in his blurry vision, he saw Yi Yu rushing over and holding him.

Feeling safe in Yi Yu’s embrace, Xu Yi finally relaxed. As he closed his eyes, he saw fresh blood pouring from Yi Yu’s chest.

Soon, Zhaoyuan Bai was defeated by the arriving group.
