Chapter 11: Life is Too Good

Qiu Yue, without waiting for a response, pulled the father and son away and led them to a high-end tea set shop. After much deliberation, he finally selected a complete set of exquisite Ru Kiln porcelain.

“This is perfect!” he exclaimed with delight, commenting, “The sky-blue Ru porcelain is just like the Heavenly Dew from that day, separated by a courtyard, with the Four Waters Returning to the Hall, the narrow table with its wisp of blue smoke, and the moment when the Fairy nearly killed me—it’s all equally breathtaking!”

The father and son were stunned. What kind of description was that?

The shopkeeper beside them smiled and said, “Ru Kiln, a romance that spans a thousand years. You have excellent taste, sir!”

After saying this, he quoted a jaw-dropping price.

Qiu Yue waved his hand grandly, “I’ll take it!”

Lao Zhao, horrified, protested, “This is too much!”

Qiu Yue glared at him, “It’s not for you!”

Lao Zhao: “Oh, right… this is good, this is good…”

After buying the tea set, Qiu Yue still felt it wasn’t enough. He took the father and son to a neighboring tea shop, where he went on a spree, buying all sorts of teas.

Seeing the father and son loaded with items, Qiu Yue thought that just drinking tea would be too monotonous, so he decided to pair it with some snacks. Another round of extravagant spending ensued.

An hour later, the three of them were so laden with goods they could barely carry them.

Qiu Yue simply bought a carriage, loaded it up, and continued shopping with such ease and decisiveness that it was almost enviable. He didn’t stop until the carriage was completely full, packed to the brim.

The two simple villagers went from being shocked to bewildered, and finally, their expressions turned numb. Every single item in the carriage was worth a fortune to them.

Finally, when it was all over, Qiu Yue suddenly thought of something and asked, “May I ask, what is the Fairy’s surname?”

Last time, they had practically fled down the mountain, so he truly didn’t know. He even suspected that the father and son didn’t know either.

Lao Zhao tugged at his son’s arm, “How do you pronounce those three characters of the Fairy’s name?”

He was illiterate and only knew that when the Fairy had bestowed a name upon his daughter, she had written her own name on the ground.

Zhao Tiezhu whispered, “The Fairy’s name is Xiao Ranshu.”

Qiu Yue bowed deeply to the two of them, “Thank you!”

The father and son hurriedly bowed back in a flustered manner, creating a scene that was both solemn and somewhat comical.

With his mind at ease, Qiu Yue said to the two of them, “Please don’t forget to put in a good word for me in front of Fairy Xiao!”

The father and son nodded like chickens pecking at rice.

Qiu Yue was very satisfied. He escorted the carriage out of the city and then took his brothers down another road to leave.

He had some business to attend to first, and only after that would he have the time to visit Ling Mountain again. He hoped the master wouldn’t mind his previous offense.

Little did he know, after they parted ways, Yan Zhongze stepped onto the city gate, watching the distant carriage and Qiu Yue with a flicker in his eyes.

“What’s the deal with those two beggars?” he asked.

The attendant beside him replied, “Judging by their route, they’re heading to Ling Mountain Village. They must be villagers from Ling Mountain.”

Yan Zhongze laughed, “Villagers?”

The attendant: “Should I send someone to follow them and investigate?”

Yan Zhongze raised his hand, “Go to Ling Mountain Village and find out everything.”

“Yes!” the attendant nodded, then asked, “What about Qiu Yue?”

Yan Zhongze sneered, “Tracking someone in the Enlightenment Realm? Are you looking to die?”

At the top of Ling Mountain, in the thatched cottage.

Xiao Ranshu, as usual, slept until the afternoon. She was lazy and loved to sleep.

When she got up, opened the door, and walked into the courtyard, she was stunned.

What’s going on?

She saw Zhao Tiezhu and Lao Zhao carrying large wooden boxes in and out, bustling with activity.

Zhao Yujun’s Mind Opening had been quite extraordinary. Just yesterday, he couldn’t walk or speak, but today he was trotting behind his father and brother, helping out.

Zhang Da Niang was cooking in the kitchen, and the aroma of food had already wafted out.

“Has the Fairy woken up?” Lao Zhao was the first to see Xiao Ranshu and greeted her excitedly.

Xiao Ranshu nodded and pointed at the pile of items, asking, “What is this…”

Hearing the voice, Zhang Da Niang rushed out and said, “Fairy, you’re finally up! The father and son went to the city this morning. Should I have them put these in your room?”

Xiao Ranshu nodded in confusion.

Lao Zhao and Zhao Tiezhu immediately started moving the items, carrying them one by one into the main room.

There were bedding, daily necessities, and various cosmetics…

The exquisite packaging indicated that they were very expensive.

Zhao Yujun, unable to carry the heavy items, helped arrange them neatly, behaving remarkably well-behaved.

Xiao Ranshu noticed the little girl’s flushed cheeks, which were as red as spring.

She felt both touched and heartbroken.

She was a stranger to them, yet how could she be so fortunate to encounter such kind villagers?

They fed her and took care of her.

They wouldn’t even buy oil for their own daughter’s face, yet they gave her the best of everything.

Xiao Ranshu couldn’t bear to watch any longer and stepped into the east wing.

Zhang Da Niang called out, “Fairy, the food is almost ready! You should step out, the kitchen is smoky!”

Xiao Ranshu stepped forward and took her hand, saying, “Zhang Da Niang, you should spend your money on yourselves, don’t waste it on me.”

Zhang Da Niang quickly pulled her hand away, flustered, and wiped it on her clothes, “No! It’s not like that!”

Xiao Ranshu shook her head, “You…”

Zhang Da Niang, being straightforward, interrupted her, “It was bought by Lord Qiu! We didn’t spend any money! After Lord Qiu came down the mountain last time, he gave our family some silver. We’ve been able to live comfortably thanks to him.”

Xiao Ranshu was stunned, “Ah?”

Lord Qiu? Who?

Zhang Da Niang suddenly remembered she hadn’t mentioned this before and slapped her thigh in frustration, “Qiu Yue! A Warrior, carrying a big sword. He came up the mountain and said he had met you.”

Xiao Ranshu recalled and suddenly understood, “He was the one who spent the money?”

“Yes, yes, yes!” Zhang Da Niang nodded vigorously, then added, “Lord Qiu asked us to put in a good word for him in front of you.”

Xiao Ranshu sighed, “So he’s a good person after all…”

Zhang Da Niang exclaimed, “Of course! A great person! I’ve never met such a kind Warrior… He even bought a carriage. It’s at the foot of the mountain. If you ever want to go to the city, Fairy, you can ride in it.”

Xiao Ranshu felt reassured. Even in these turbulent times, it wasn’t as dangerous as she had imagined.

The Warrior was a good person, and the villagers were good people too. Since arriving in this world, she hadn’t encountered a single bad person—only those who treated her exceptionally well.

How fortunate she was!

Today’s meal was lavish, and Zhang Da Niang’s family, as usual, left immediately after finishing their tasks, not staying a second longer, giving the socially anxious Xiao Ranshu ample space to dine alone.

Xiao Ranshu ate heartily.

After the meal, she went to the courtyard and found that the stone table had been thoughtfully moved under the eaves, as it seemed to rain every day here for some reason.

The stone stool had been replaced with a rocking chair, no longer cold and hard.

On the stone table was a set of Ru Kiln tea utensils, along with tea leaves and delicate pastries. A charcoal stove had been set up beside it, and the water in the copper kettle was already boiling.

For Xiao Ranshu, post-meal walks or exercise were out of the question. Sipping tea while watching the rain was true comfort.

So she lazily drank tea and ate pastries, dozing off when she felt sleepy.

Life was just too good!

Xiao Ranshu was thoroughly enjoying herself, unaware that outside the slightly ajar courtyard gate, a pair of cold eyes was fixed on her.

The heavy rain washed away the traces on the mountain path. No one knew that a black-clad figure had infiltrated Lingshan Village, ascended the mountain, descended, and eventually returned to Rong City.

Night fell.

The black-clad figure hurried into the room of the second young master of the City Lord’s residence and whispered a few words into Yan Zhongze’s ear.

Yan Zhongze immediately laughed: “So there’s a beauty hidden at the mountain peak?”

The black-clad figure replied: “A beauty beyond compare!”

Yan Zhongze’s smile turned suggestive: “Send someone to capture her. Let me see just how beautiful she is.”
