I Became a Fortune Teller in the 90s Chapter 16: He’s Completely Stumped

Dai Qing ignored the emotions in his eyes and spoke calmly,
“Though your ties with family are weak, your fortune is strong. However, due to your current status, you are bound to endure some hardships, fighting against fate. Your wealth will come at the expense of your health. If you can find a righteous path, your gains will come from honest work, and the road ahead will be smooth. Moreover, a noble people has already appeared by your side.”

Yan Biao stared at her, lost in thought, without speaking for a long time. He lowered his head, deep in contemplation.

Standing beside Cheng Hao, Ge Bing nudged him with his elbow, motioning toward Yan Biao with his mouth. He was about to say something but was silenced by a sharp look from Cheng Hao.

“Master, can I really succeed?” Yan Biao finally broke the silence.

Ever since he set out on his own, he had lived by his code of loyalty, always ready to fight and never afraid to die. He never thought someone like him could actually make something of himself by legitimate means.

“If this noble person is in your life, it will naturally bring you good fortune. Just follow your heart.”

Upon hearing this, Yan Biao immediately stood up, bowed deeply to Dai Qing, and respectfully offered the only sixty yuan he had on him.

“Thank you, Master, for your guidance.”

In their line of work, they often prayed to Lord Guan, so naturally, they believed in such mystical things.

“No need for thanks. Meeting is fate.”

Dai Qing accepted the money without hesitation and glanced at the two people standing as mere background props before walking away.

Not bad. She had earned back the money she had spent.

The three men stood in silence, watching Dai Qing’s departing figure. Finally, Ge Bing couldn’t hold back anymore, pointing in her direction.

“Brother Hao, what the…?” They had been in the middle of a fight, and she suddenly popped up with a fortune-telling session. The craziest part? Yan Biao actually paid her! It left him completely dumbfounded.

So… do they continue fighting or what?

Yan Biao shifted his gaze back and, turning to the two men, clasped his fists in a sign of respect.

“Brothers, it seems today we’ve come to know each other through a fight. As the Master said, today’s beating is my karma, a result of my poor leadership. I accept it and hold no grudge.”

“You believe that?”

Cheng Hao’s mouth twitched slightly. He had always been a skeptic, and even though the girl’s words seemed spot on, he still had his reservations.

“Why not believe it?” Yan Biao looked at him seriously. “She read me perfectly with just one glance. How could I not believe?”

“Keep your men in check and don’t provoke the security department again. Let’s pretend today didn’t happen.”

“Agreed.”

As Dai Qing walked further down the road, she soon realized that two people were following her. When she boarded the bus, the two men got on as well.

The bus passed by the textile factory—apparently, it was along their route.

After just two stops, Dai Qing got off the bus, carrying her things, but after walking only a few steps, she heard someone call out to her.

“Hey, comrade, wait a moment.”

Hearing this old-fashioned form of address, Dai Qing paused for a second, turning around to look at the two men. “What’s up?”

Ge Bing glanced nervously at Cheng Hao before scratching his head and awkwardly looking at Dai Qing.

“Uh… what you told Yan Biao… was it all true?”

“Of course,” Dai Qing replied, raising an eyebrow.

“You weren’t just bluffing him?” Ge Bing asked, clearly embarrassed. The whole situation with her showing up and making cryptic statements did seem a bit sketchy.

“You’re overthinking it.” Dai Qing answered. Since she had chosen this path, she wouldn’t go against her professional ethics by lying to people.

Giving someone wrong guidance could lead to karmic consequences. At worst, it could invoke punishment from the heavens; at best, it could bring bad luck.

Cheng Hao patted Ge Bing’s shoulder, “He didn’t mean anything by it, he’s just curious. If Yan Biao really does follow your advice and goes straight, the textile world will be rid of one troublemaker.”

However, he still found it hard to understand how someone like Yan Biao could be so blessed with wealth.

Dai Qing noticed his doubt and arched her eyebrow slightly.
