“Pfft—”
Luo Yu couldn’t hold back, and the tea he had just taken a sip of sprayed out. Luckily, he reacted quickly and pulled his chair back, avoiding getting drenched!
But before he could wipe the table, there were a few knocks on the door of the private room.
Dazed, Luo Yu reached for a tissue on the nearby table, and Song Lingyuan lent a hand, quickly pulling him and the chair back into place.
“Come in.”
The person outside heard and entered; it was the restaurant manager pushing a cart to serve the dishes.
Knowing Song Lingyuan’s identity, the restaurant manager was already on edge. Upon seeing the puddle on the floor, he immediately gasped in shock!
“I’m terribly sorry, President Song! Did we overfill the teapot and spill water on you?”
As he spoke, he reached out to clean the table.
Song Lingyuan glanced casually at the teapot, seemingly contemplating whether it was indeed the cause.
Luo Yu’s mind was still processing the shock of Song Lingyuan’s sudden confession, and he unconsciously wiped at the water on the table. The enthusiastic restaurant manager swiftly snatched the tissue from his hand.
“Oh, it’s all our fault! How could we let you do the cleaning!”
Luo Yu looked up in confusion. “It’s not the teapot’s fault…”
“Oh dear, then it must be a design flaw with our teacups!”
The restaurant manager seemed determined to take full responsibility.
“President Song, to provide a better experience for you two, I’ll personally serve you in this private room today.”
He then diligently served the dishes from the cart onto the table. After arranging everything, he glanced between the two of them and picked up the serving chopsticks to serve Luo Yu.
Luo Yu stared in disbelief as his bowl piled up with crispy pork ribs, steamed fish, and salted egg yolk chicken wings…
By the time he reacted, it had already turned into a small mountain.
He instinctively looked at Song Lingyuan.
“Go ahead and eat,” Song Lingyuan said, lifting her chin slightly.
Luo Yu had no choice but to lower his head and start gnawing on the chicken wings.
To his surprise, the salted egg yolk chicken wings tasted really good! They were both crispy and fragrant.
Seeing Luo Yu eating so heartily, the restaurant manager proudly switched to a new pair of serving chopsticks and turned to serve food to Song Lingyuan.
Unexpectedly, Song Lingyuan raised his goved hand, coldly blocking him.
“You can leave now.”
The smile on the restaurant manager’s face instantly froze!
Was he being dismissed?
But he didn’t dare to argue.
He could only obediently push the cart away, quickly disappearing outside the door.
The private room fell silent again, with only the faint sounds of Luo Yu gnawing on the chicken wings.
After a while, Luo Yu felt something was off and looked up, only to find that Song Lingyuan hadn’t served himself but was watching him intently.
He really wanted to ask why Song Lingyuan wasn’t eating.
But then he recalled that confession from a few minutes ago.
Whatever he said now seemed inappropriate!
So he lowered his head again.
Nibble, nibble, he continued to eat the chicken wings.
After watching for a while, Song Lingyuan finally picked up his chopsticks and seemingly casually asked, “So, do you want to come over to my place to sleep later?”
Luo Yu suddenly choked on a piece of chicken wing and quickly gulped down a large mouthful of water.
Turning his head, he noticed that Song Lingyuan had somehow moved closer to him and gently patted his back. “Slow down, don’t rush.”
“I’m not rushing… I mean, I have my own home. Why would I go to your place to sleep?” Luo Yu asked, coughing as he couldn’t help but question.
“That’s because I had someone buy an expensive new bed, and I want to invite Streamer Luo Yu to help me try it out to see if it’s worth the price,” Song Lingyuan said with a serious tone, as if discussing a matter of importance.
“You bought a new bed?” Luo Yu was intrigued by this statement. Hesitating for a moment, he couldn’t help but ask quietly, “What kind of bed did you buy?”
“An electric adjustable bed.”
Song Lingyuan calmly picked up some vegetables with her chopsticks.
“I heard it can adjust the height of the head and foot of the bed based on the owner’s preferences and can also adjust the mattress’s firmness. But I’m not very familiar with beds, so I haven’t tried out all the features yet.”
“An electric bed?” Luo Yu suddenly became interested. “I’ve never slept on one of those!”
“Is that so? Then it’s perfect for you to come over and check it out.” Song Lingyuan continued without a change in his expression, “Mainly, I don’t need to sleep right now, so I can’t evaluate whether the bed is good or not. That’s why I want you to try it out for me first.”
Luo Yu was really tempted!
But thinking about their ambiguous relationship made him hesitate as he chewed his food. “I’ll think about it…”
Seeing his hesitation, Song Lingyuan continued to coax him softly, “Luo Yu, don’t worry. I just want you to try out the bed because you have a good understanding of sleep. I want you to evaluate it professionally; there’s no other meaning behind it.”
Since Song Lingyuan said so, Luo Yu found it hard to refuse: “Okay, then I’ll go check it out.”
Song Lingyuan slowly lowered his eyes, suppressing his joyful feelings to keep a calm demeanor.
“Yeah, just check it out.”
Soon, they finished dinner, and Song Lingyuan led Luo Yu back across the jade-white bridge.
The summer night was still warm, but the breeze by the lake brought a refreshing coolness.
The wind puffed out Luo Yu’s shirt, making a “whoosh” sound.
As they got off the bridge and approached the car, Song Lingyuan suddenly stopped, turning to look at Luo Yu.
Luo Yu blinked. “What’s wrong now?”
He saw a turbulent undercurrent in Song Lingyuan’s deep blue eyes, his voice low and deliberately restrained:
“Luo Yu, I’m going to start pursuing you. There’s no rush to respond; I’ll give you all the time you need to consider it.”
Luo Yu’s heart skipped a beat, and he glanced up at the sky, avoiding his r gaze: “The moon is so round tonight.”
Song Lingyuan slightly curved his lips, turning to look at the bright moon in the night sky. With an unintentional smile, He opened the back door of the car and invited Luo Yu to get in.
Once Song Lingyuan was also in the car, Luo Yu suddenly felt the space inside was unprecedentedly cramped!
Even though no one was talking, he felt a noisy atmosphere around him.
It took him a while to realize it was his own rapid heartbeat that was so loud.
When the car finally arrived at Song Lingyuan’s standalone villa in the suburbs, Luo Yu followed him inside, only to see Song Lingyuan turn and “click” lock the front door.
The whole villa was now just the two of them.
Luo Yu suddenly felt he probably shouldn’t be here!
He felt as if… he was a prey willingly walking into a trap.
“Where’s your bed?” He tried to sound assertive, making his intentions clear.
“In that room.” After changing into slippers, Song Lingyuan seemed oblivious to any discomfort, calmly leading Luo Yu through the living room toward another room he hadn’t been to yet.
Luo Yu followed him inside, and sure enough, there was a bed set up there.
The dark wood bed had a naturally elevated headboard that formed a streamlined curve with the bed frame, creating a beautiful human silhouette.
Luo Yu unconsciously walked to the side of the bed. “Wow, it really can adjust? How amazing!”
“Go ahead and try it out,” Song Lingyuan encouraged from behind him.
Luo Yu hesitated for a moment, slowly took off his slippers, and jumped up. He was quickly drawn in by the bed’s soft yet firm feel.
Before long, he found a row of glowing buttons on the other side of the bed, labeled with various adjustment functions.
He reached out to adjust the height of the bed’s head and foot several times, trying out different levels of softness and firmness before finally letting go and lying down contentedly.
Luo Yu wanted to tell Song Lingyuan that the bed was really nice, but when he turned over, he saw that Song Lingyuan had somehow already gotten onto the bed and was now lying beside him, looking at him!
Luo Yu was momentarily at a loss for words:
“How did you suddenly get up here…”
Song Lingyuan was staring at him, lying very stiffly at the edge of the bed, motionless:
“I wanted to see if what Luo Yu was adjusting was really comfortable.”
“Well, what do you think?”
After asking, Luo Yu felt it wasn’t the right time for that question, took a deep breath, and felt everything was getting chaotic:
“You… maybe you should go out. I need to sleep now.”
“Can’t I work next to you? We used to be able to sleep together, right?”
Song Lingyuan asked calmly in succession, his expression not showing much emotion, but his breathing was noticeably heavier than usual.
Luo Yu felt the air become thick and sticky; he pushed Song Lingyuan’s shoulder in a flustered manner:
“No! Not right now!”
“Well, fine.” Song Lingyuan said lightly, “Then I’ll go out.”
He said this, but he didn’t move.
There was only a fist’s distance between them, lying face-to-face on the bed.
It was too close. Luo Yu bit his lip, and he could even feel the burning temperature and heated breath radiating from Song Lingyuan.
Just when every inch of Luo Yu’s skin felt overwhelmed by the other person’s warmth and started to tremble slightly, Song Lingyuan finally sat up.
He turned around and got off the bed, walking toward the door.
“Your pajamas are in the nightstand. They’re new.”
With that, he left the room, casually closing the door behind him.
Luo Yu waited for a while before reaching out to pull open the nightstand drawer.
It was filled with brand new, unopened pajamas, neatly arranged in cotton, silk, black, white, gray, and beige, all perfectly organized in a compulsive manner.
Luo Yu picked out a set of ivory pajamas, pulled the blanket over his feet, and carefully changed into the pajamas under the covers.
Although there was no one in the room, the lingering scent left by Song Lingyuan still hovered in the air, making him feel a bit unsettled.
After changing his clothes, Luo Yu squeezed the cuffs.
These pajamas were bought for him by Song Lingyuan.
Thinking of this, Luo Yu wanted to scream, burying his whole head into the pillow.
A few minutes later, he quietly took out a sleeping pill from his personal space.
When Luo Yu groggily woke up, the dark room was filled with silence after the lights were turned off, with a little light seeping through the door crack, accompanied by very faint voices.
He nestled in the comfortable blankets, listened for a while, and realized it was Song Lingyuan in a meeting.
Waking up to the feeling of someone being at home was really nice.
He lazily curled up in the blankets for a while, then felt thirsty. He remembered there was a water dispenser in the kitchen, so he sat up, slipped on his slippers, and walked out to get some water.
Luo Yu quietly pushed open the door and saw Song Lingyuan with his back to him, leaning against the sofa, one hand gently pressing his temple and the other supporting a laptop, responding coldly to something on the screen.
The voices drowned out the sound of the door opening, so Song Lingyuan didn’t notice he had gotten up.
Luo Yu didn’t want to disturb him and carefully walked past the space between the sofa and the wall.
When he reached behind Song Lingyuan, he suddenly froze—
Song Lingyuan was actually on a video call!
He and Song Lingyuan appeared in the frame together, wearing white pajamas and looking very disheveled, and they were shocked to make eye contact!
Song Lingyuan slowly turned his head, locking eyes with the frozen Luo Yu:
“Awake?”
Luo Yu nodded: “I’m going to get some water!”
Saying this, he quickly dashed out of the frame!
Song Lingyuan turned back and saw the other participants on the call, each showing varied expressions. Seeing him look over, they all nervously lowered their heads!
They were afraid to be found out that they had witness some top secret and would be silenced!
Only the assistant responsible for meeting minutes, Li Rui, bravely asked loudly:
“President, wasn’t that Luo Yu who just walked past you in pajamas?”
“Why is Luo Yu in your home?”
In an instant, everyone in the video conference fell into silence.
Song Lingyuan’s expression turned serious: “We’re pressed for time; let’s not discuss unrelated matters.”
Li Rui:…
“Let’s wrap this meeting up for now. I’ll be heading back to headquarters immediately; we can continue offline.”
With that, Song Lingyuan quickly closed the meeting window.
Suddenly being kicked out of the meeting, Li Rui:…
That was definitely Luo Yu!
When Luo Yu finished drinking water and came out, standing by the sofa, he awkwardly scratched his head:
“I didn’t know you were on video call.”
Song Lingyuan looked at Luo Yu, who was wearing the pajamas he bought for him, swaying in front of him, and felt particularly happy, slightly curling his lips:
“Come sit, I’ll make you some noodles.”
After eating the completely flavorless noodles, Luo Yu was dropped off by Song Lingyuan at the Academy.
Soon, the car stopped at the gate of the A Academy.
Just as Luo Yu was about to open the car door to get out, Song Lingyuan suddenly pressed down on the back of his hand, turning to look at him:
“Luo Yu, how was the trial sleep today? You haven’t given me any feedback yet.”
Only then did Luo Yu remember, and he said seriously:
“It was very comfortable! I suggest you adjust the softness and firmness to three levels and the mattress height to two levels next time, but this is just my personal advice; everyone’s preferences may vary…”
He went on for quite a while, and Song Lingyuan listened attentively. After he finished, he nodded:
“Thank you very much, Luo Yu.”
“Go ahead; I’ll come pick you up later.”
With that, he released the back of his hand.
He would come pick him up? Why would he pick him up?
Luo Yu quickly blinked but didn’t ask anything. He turned and jumped out of the car, jogging all the way to the history department’s research room.
After sitting down at the desk, Luo Yu took a long time to calm down but still couldn’t settle his mind to organize his materials!
So much had really happened last night!
Just as Professor Tao and Wen Li hadn’t arrived yet, he called out in his mind:
“Administrator, I want to draw prop!”
Drawing a few props would help him adjust his mood!
【You have 7 draws remaining in your personal space. Would you like to use them all?】
“Let’s use them all!” Luo Yu waved his hand grandly!
【1st draw is in progress…】
【Congratulations! You have drawn an A-level prop: a round bed sprinkled with rose petals!】
Luo Yu: ?
What the heck?
Why would he need something like that when he’s sleeping alone?!
