Li Qingqing instinctively clutched her chest with both hands. His face was so close that she didn’t even dare to breathe deeply.
The distinct icy scent on him was even more noticeable now—cold and crisp, with just a trace of alcohol. Li Qingqing turned her face away, guilty and too flustered to meet his eyes.
“First day with me, and you’re already out having dinner with another man? Li Qingqing, you’ve got some nerve.”
Lu Yan was so close that she could feel the warm breath from his words landing on her cheek, but his voice was frigid as ever.
“I told you already—it was just dinner with my mentor. And it’s not even eight yet…” she stammered.
But the moment Lu Yan heard the word “mentor,” his temper spiked.
He suddenly grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him, his fingers tightening.
His gaze was burning with fury, his clenched teeth emphasizing every word:
“Don’t ever call him your mentor in front of me again. Understood?”
His demand felt absurd to Li Qingqing, but now wasn’t the time to provoke him. So she nodded obediently, “Okay, I understand…”
Before she could even finish her sentence, he fiercely sealed her lips with a kiss.
Li Qingqing struggled feebly to push him away. “Mmm… it’s not even eight yet…”
But the man was already beyond reason, consumed by a fire he couldn’t suppress. His voice was low and husky, his eyes darkened with undisguised desire. His large hand gripped her slender waist firmly as he growled near her ear:
“The time—I decide.”
Beep—
Shen Xing once again raised the privacy divider at exactly the right time.
…
“Don’t call him your mentor ever again, you hear me?”
“Mm… I got it…”
The sheer dominance in his presence left her unable to even complete a full sentence.
The black Bentley pulled into the underground parking garage of the Wanhua Apartments. By the time they got out of the car, Lu Yan was practically half-carrying, half-dragging her.
Looking at her flushed cheeks, Lu Yan chuckled wickedly. “One round and you’re done already? You better prepare to beg for mercy tonight.”
“I’m not done. My legs just cramped up a little from being curled up in the car…”
Li Qingqing didn’t know where her sudden competitive streak came from, but she couldn’t let him have the last word.
Lu Yan let out a soft laugh and wrapped his arm around her waist as they entered the elevator.
The moment the doors closed, he leaned down and kissed her again without warning.
Li Qingqing tried to push him away. “Someone might see…”
Lu Yan’s hand slid into her soft black hair, holding the back of her head in place as he deepened the kiss. “No one will. I own this entire building.”
…
Li Qingqing was stunned once more. No wonder she rarely saw any other residents in this place—so this was the kind of unpretentious wealth rich people had…
Still kissing, the two of them exited the elevator. Lu Yan’s long, elegant fingers quickly unlocked the door via fingerprint, then spun her around and swept her off her feet, carrying her into the apartment like a dancer in full flourish.
He pressed her into the sofa. Compared to the cramped space in the car, the wide, plush couch gave them much more room to move.
They didn’t stop until well into the night.
Li Qingqing was completely drained. Yesterday afternoon had already left her on the verge of collapse—and tonight was somehow even more intense.
So this is what it meant to earn a million yuan…
Right now, she missed her period more than anything else.
…
While Lu Yan went to take a shower, Li Qingqing returned to her room. Suddenly, she remembered that she hadn’t explained anything to Mu Xingyi about her sudden disappearance.
She hurried out to the living room, retrieved her bag, and dug out her phone. Sure enough, a flood of unread messages popped up.
She opened WeChat and found not only Mu Xingyi’s messages, but also a couple from Shen Lu.
She clicked on Mu Xingyi’s first—there were about seven or eight in total:
19:49
【Qingqing, are you okay? Do you need me to come find you?】
20:31
【Qingqing, are you busy? Just let me know you’re safe, okay?】
20:55
【Qingqing, are you really alright? You’ve been ignoring all my messages…】
…
Reading those messages made Li Qingqing’s heart ache. She had just left him sitting there like that, without even a word of explanation…
She quickly locked her door and immediately called Mu Xingyi back.
The phone had barely rung once before it was answered.
“Hello? Qingqing? Is that you? Are you okay?”
Mu Xingyi’s voice was laced with concern and urgency.
Li Qingqing felt even more guilty.
“…It’s me, Master. I’m fine. Something came up at home, and my phone died, so I didn’t see your messages…”
Mu Xingyi finally relaxed a little. “I’m glad you’re okay. Just make sure to keep your phone charged from now on, okay? Your mentor worries when he can’t reach you.”
Li Qingqing: “Mm, I understand. Thank you, Master.”
“Then go rest early. I won’t bother you any longer.”
After hanging up, Li Qingqing opened Shen Lu’s chat. There were two messages from her:
【Qingqing, where did you go? Dr. Mu even came looking for you at my place.】
【Message me when you see this.】
Li Qingqing’s long, pale fingers tapped out a reply:
【Something came up at home. I’ve already spoken with Dr. Mu. You should rest early too.】
She even added a little heart emoji at the end.
After tying up all the loose ends, Li Qingqing collapsed onto her bed in a starfish position.
Finally… rest!
Knock knock knock.
Just as she lay down, she heard Lu Yan knocking on her door.
“What now?” she shouted toward the door.
“Come sleep with me,” came Lu Yan’s voice from the other side.
